Chapter 55: The Mora Clan and the Life-Saving Bounty
Chapter 55: The Mora Clan and the Life-Saving Bounty
It turned out that Song Chi’s idea was indeed a good one.
As more and more alien species entered the market, while the most popular shops continued to be those selling gene serums and tungsten alloy shields (or spears), quite a few aliens also began to visit the specialized resource acquisition shop.
However, after seeing the titanium crystals, most of these aliens shook their heads in confusion. Clearly, they had never encountered such a resource in their past experiences.
Song Chi wasn’t in a hurry. Titanium crystals were extremely rare, and if they were so easy to find, they wouldn’t have been classified as strategic resources by the Ember Human Civilization.
Time passed, and while occasionally checking the titanium crystal acquisition shop, Song Chi continued to wander through the free market area, searching for items with significant price disparities and keeping an eye out for any rare treasures.
The results were clear: rare treasures weren’t that easy to come by, but he did manage to acquire several items with significant price differences from the White Tower Floating Land.
Before long, several hours had passed, and the market’s trading session was drawing to a close.
At this moment, Song Chi stopped haggling with a vendor and turned his gaze toward the market entrance.
Just now, he had sensed spatial fluctuations from one of the nineteen spatial vortex gates, and what was crucial was that this particular gate had never had any creatures enter or exit before.
"Another spatial gate has been discovered by an alien species?"
As he pondered this, the spatial fluctuations from the vortex gate grew more pronounced. A few seconds later, a creature that had never been seen in the market before emerged from the spatial vortex.
Song Chi’s eyebrows raised as he scanned the newcomer, his eyes revealing a deep, meaningful expression.
If he was right, this new arrival was in a rather dire situation.
The creature’s humanoid body was covered in dark green blood, and its left arm was mysteriously missing, leaving only a right arm.
Clearly, it had likely survived a brutal battle and taken advantage of the chaos to enter the market entrance. There might even be a group of enemies waiting for it at the entrance.
The alien first scanned the rules displayed on the market entrance’s light screen, its eyes lighting up with excitement. Then, it staggered into the market.
Song Chi remained outwardly calm, but his mind was closely following the movements of this unknown creature.
The unique way it entered the market was enough to pique anyone’s interest.
Once inside, the alien looked around and finally entered a gene serum shop, where it exchanged fifty zero-grade life nuclei for a basic healing serum.
After using the healing serum, its injuries stabilized, but it didn’t leave immediately. Instead, it stayed in the shop for a while, using the information screens to learn more about the various serums.
Finding none of the serums it was looking for, the alien left the shop, disappointed, and made its way to the free trading area.
Seeing it about to set up a stall, the other aliens who had been observing it for some time quickly gathered around, just as curious as Song Chi.
Once the stall was set up, the one-armed alien began to take out various items from his backpack. These items were diverse, ranging from first-tier Life Core Nuclei to special minerals and Essence of Floating Lands.
Song Chi, mingling in the crowd, immediately noticed when the alien pulled out a first-tier Essence of Floating Land. He quickly approached and asked in the standard Star Sea Common Tongue, "First-tier Essence of Floating Land, what are you looking to exchange for it?"
The one-armed alien continued to pull out items but did not ignore Song Chi's question.
"Life-saving items, items that can harm a first-tier life form, items that can quickly advance me to the first tier, or items that can help me escape. If you can provide any of these four types of items, we can discuss the price further."
Upon hearing this, the aliens around the stall began to murmur. Soon, many of them lost interest and left. It wasn't that the one-armed alien was being unreasonable; he had mentioned that the price could be negotiated. However, the four items he requested were all extremely valuable, and the zero-tier aliens present simply did not possess them.
Even if some of them did have such items, they would keep them for their own use rather than trade them.
Song Chi, standing in the crowd, also looked conflicted. While the first-tier Essence of Floating Land was a valuable item, the four items the one-armed alien requested were not something he could easily produce.
Seeing the varied expressions on the faces of the aliens around the stall, with no one willing to speak up, the one-armed alien grew increasingly anxious. From the rule screen, he knew the trading session was nearing its end. If he couldn't use this last bit of time to exchange for what he needed, he would face certain death.
Thinking of this, he seemed genuinely desperate. He reached into his backpack again, and when he presented the item to the crowd, the eyes of the surrounding aliens immediately lit up.
Beneath the blinding purple light was a palm-sized brain tissue. It looked repulsive, but the purple light it emitted was unmistakable, indicating it was a Star Sea Curio, and a very rare purple-quality one at that.
Almost instantly, the aliens who had left returned, and more continued to gather. In no time, hundreds of aliens had crowded around the one-armed alien's stall, a testament to the allure of a purple-quality curio.
At this point, the one-armed alien no longer held back and explained his current predicament.
"Outside, there are at least five first-tier Moraclans waiting for me. I don't need anything else; whoever can provide the item that best ensures my survival will receive this purple-quality Brain Devourer Hyperbrain."
The eyes of the surrounding aliens glinted with greed and desire, but no one dared to make a move. Over the past twenty hours, some aliens had already demonstrated the consequences of having ulterior motives.
After some discussion, the highly coveted trade remained uncompleted. It wasn't that the aliens didn't try with their best items, but none of them satisfied the one-armed alien.
It was simply too difficult to make a zero-tier alien capable of standing up to five first-tier aliens in a short time or to ensure their safe escape right under their noses.
