Chapter 55: How Many Times Do I Have to Tell You, There Are No Dragons in Hogwarts!
"Fang?" Ivan recognized him at once and rushed forward.
Fang also ran into Ivan's arms, whimpering in fear, with streaks of blood on his legs.
"It's injured!" Harry noticed this as well and quickly followed, with Ron not far behind.
"It looks like a Curse, but fortunately, it didn't hit directly. It's just a graze." Hermione was much calmer than the two of them, but her calmness made her think of something more terrifying.
"It might be that Hagrid is in trouble in the Forbidden Forest!" Hermione became increasingly anxious.
"Whimper whimper" Perhaps understanding Hermione's words, Fang immediately wriggled out of Ivan's arms and started dragging Ivan by the pant leg.
This confirmed Hermione's suspicions. Harry and Ron, the two reckless ones, were about to rush into the Forbidden Forest to save Hagrid, but Ivan stopped them.
"It's too late. Running there now would be too slow, and the enemy that Hagrid and Fang couldn't handle won't be any easier for the three of you. The best thing to do is to quickly return to the Castle and inform the Professor."
Among those present, only Ivan knew that Hagrid had been investigating the attacks on Unicorns over the past few days. This meant he might have encountered Voldemort-possessed Quirrell.
Ivan hadn't expected that stopping Malfoy from eavesdropping on the Dragon Egg would lead to such a result.
"But Hagrid is in danger, we have to save him!" Harry understood that returning to get help was the best solution, but as Ivan said, by the time they returned, Hagrid might be long gone.
"That's why I said you should go back." Ivan sighed and then, to everyone's surprise, leaped onto Norbert's back, gripping the dragon's horn and sitting down firmly.
"Ivan, you're going to—?" Hermione realized something and her face showed surprise.
"Exactly, running is slower than flying. I might be able to catch up if I ride Norbert." Ivan nodded, knowing this was his responsibility and he couldn't just stand by.
Then Ivan looked at the big dog on the ground.
"Fang, get up! We'll need you to lead the way."
"Whimper" The timid Fang, seeing Norbert's massive and fearsome body, clamped his tail between his legs in fear, but with Ivan's repeated calls, he finally mustered the courage to jump up.
"Good boy!" Ivan was surprised that the timid Fang could overcome his fear. He had even considered asking Hermione or Harry to carry Fang to him.
"If you need to inform the Professor, Ron can do it alone. I and Harry can go with you." Seeing Ivan about to act alone, Hermione was very worried.
Harry nodded solemnly, while Ron looked bewildered, wondering why he couldn't go.
Ivan glanced at Harry, somewhat tempted. After all, to deal with Voldemort-possessed Quirrell, Harry was a trump card.
"No, Norbert can't carry the weight of all three of us."
After a second of hesitation, Ivan dismissed the idea. Norbert was only a little over a month old and barely managed to fly with him and Fang.
Moreover, to avoid exposure, Quirrell probably wouldn't engage in a direct confrontation. He and Norbert would be enough.
"Norbert, take off!" Ivan patted the young Norwegian Ridgeback on the head, and the dragon flapped its wings, creating a gust of wind. With a powerful thrust from its front limbs, it soared into the sky.
Ivan grabbed the dragon's horns like a steering wheel, and let Fang guide the way. The intelligent dog, despite the sudden shock of flying, barked furiously in the direction they had come from.
Ivan understood and pulled on the dragon's horns, guiding Norbert in the direction Fang was looking.
Although Ivan had been careful to keep the dragon's presence hidden, he had occasionally ridden Norbert at night, flying low to avoid detection. The allure of riding a dragon was too great, and Ivan couldn't resist it. This experience gave him the confidence to save Hagrid.
After Ivan rode Norbert away, Harry, Hermione, and Ron hurried back to the school.
"Move, move, move!"
Harry led Ron and Hermione, charging through the corridors. They had initially planned to rush to the Headmaster's Office, but then realized they didn't have the password to enter. Hermione remembered that Professor Mcgonagall was giving a lesson to the Third Year students.
So, the three of them barged into the classroom without hesitation.
The moment the door crashed open, all eyes in the classroom turned to them. The pressure was even more intense with the angry glare from Professor Mcgonagall.
"Mr. Potter, if you don't have a good explanation..." Professor Mcgonagall was about to scold them, but she was cut off as Harry and Ron forcibly dragged her away.
"Professor Mcgonagall, something terrible has happened! We'll explain on the way", Hermione managed to say before she, Harry, and Ron pulled the Professor out of the classroom.
The dozens of Third Year Young Wizards watched in shock as their Professor was dragged away by a few First Year students. It was clear that something urgent had happened, and Professor Mcgonagall wouldn't be back anytime soon.
"So, does this mean we don't have class this afternoon?" In the silent classroom, George suddenly realized something.
The other Third Year students erupted in cheers.
"Yay! No class!"
Meanwhile, in the corridor, Hermione was pulling Professor Mcgonagall along, explaining the situation as they ran.
"You're saying Hagrid is in danger in the Forbidden Forest, and now Hagrid is riding a dragon named Norbert to rescue him?" Professor Mcgonagall was skeptical at first, thinking Hermione might be making up a story.
"I have to stop you from fantasizing, there are no dragons in Hogwarts!" Professor Mcgonagall stopped in her tracks, refusing to be moved by Hermione and the others.
Harry didn't know how to explain; it was a long story that would take a while to tell.
Roar~
Just as Harry was about to summarize, a dragon's roar echoed from the distant Forbidden Forest. Standing by a window, the four of them saw a fire dragon rise from the forest, spewing flames as it dove down.
"I guess we don't need to explain anymore", Ron said with a shrug.
