Chapter 548: Farewell, Dementor
Chapter 548: Farewell, Dementor
On the Dementor Island deep in the North Sea, countless Dementors flew about in the sky, resembling black plastic bags dancing in the wind on a gusty day in the city. The strange changes in the weather around the island had made these Dementors wary, and they began to investigate their surroundings, trying to find the cause of the environmental shifts.
Watching the Dementors fly about aimlessly like headless flies, Rose Crystal remained calm as she manipulated the Array Plates. As she had predicted, these Dementors could not see the Puppets, and thus posed no threat to her and her companions.
Once the Array Plates beneath Rose Crystal's feet were fully charged with magic power, she immediately signaled her readiness through the soul connection. After confirming that everyone had completed the first step, Commander Canary gave the order to proceed.
"Wind rises." Rose Crystal growled, then began to perform an ancient ritual dance, waving her Crystal Sword. Through the dance, she channeled Faith Power from within her body into the Array Plates beneath her feet.
As she moved with the grace of an elf, her feet danced lightly on the Array Plates, and the Faith Power she had gathered as a deity in the A Song of Ice and Fire worlds began to seep out from her feet in the form of purple mist, gradually infusing the Array Plates below.
Soon, the purple mist accumulated, but an invisible barrier in the air kept it confined within the range of the Array Plates. This left Rose Crystal enveloped in the purple mist, her movements stirring the mist around her, as if she were dancing on a cloud.
As Faith Power continued to flow, the golden Array Plates beneath her feet began to hum and vibrate. The runes, originally drawn in cinnabar and as red as blood, gradually turned a vivid purple as they absorbed the purple mist. When the last rune transformed, all the mist coalesced into a vortex and was sucked into the Array Plates, as if everything that had happened was just a dream.
But it wasn't a dream. As the purple mist disappeared, Rose Crystal stopped her dance and raised her sword overhead with both hands.
Immediately, a fierce wind began to rage around her, forming a tornado with her at its center. The tornado spun faster and higher, and purple lightning threads mixed with the wind. Eventually, the top of the tornado touched the dark clouds above, creating a Wind Pillar that seemed to connect heaven and earth. The Wind Pillar was surrounded by countless purple lightning bolts, resembling a coiling dragon trying to ascend to the heavens.
The changes were not limited to Rose Crystal's location. If someone could stand above the island and see through the dark clouds, they would notice that eight Wind Pillars had risen from the island. Seven of these Wind Pillars were arranged in the pattern of the Big Dipper, while Rose Crystal's position corresponded to the North Star.
The eight Wind Pillars began to emit powerful energy, which gradually merged to form a massive energy field over the island.
At this point, the spell could no longer be concealed. The surging magic energy on the island gave the Dementors a target. A large number of Dementors immediately formed a black flood and rushed toward the Wind Pillars, trying to prevent the final step of this terrifying magic from being completed.
However, all their efforts were in vain. Any Dementor that tried to approach the Wind Pillars was instantly obliterated by the blue-purple currents that encircled them.
Through the transparent wind wall, Rose Crystal, standing on the central Array Plate of the Wind Pillar, smiled slightly as she watched the Dementors continuously collide with it. Contrary to expectations, the wind in the center of the Wind Pillar was very gentle, barely enough to stir the Puppets' hair.
"The final step is coming soon." Rose Crystal murmured, feeling the formation of the Magic Array that enveloped the entire island and all the Dementors.
Finally, the Magic Array was complete, and the island, along with all the Dementors on it, was fully enclosed within the massive Magic Array. Some Dementors tried to escape the island, but they were quickly shredded by the gale and lightning at the island's perimeter.
"Thunderclap!" After sensing that everyone was ready, Rose Crystal shouted, pointing her sword at the sky with both hands and smashing a bottle of Heavenly Silver onto the Array Plates. The others followed suit in unison.
Heavenly Silver was quickly absorbed by the Array Plates, and due to the sheer amount of energy injected, cracks began to form on the plates. However, the Heavenly Silver swiftly filled these cracks, allowing the Array Plates to release even more powerful energy into the sky. Dark Clouds above immediately started to flash with lightning, accompanied by rumbling thunder.
Seeing the unstoppable Heavenly Thunder, the Dementor that had been attacking the Wind Pillar quickly retreated to the Black Mound used as a breeding ground and hid inside, releasing a large amount of black mist to cover the mound, attempting to use the earth’s protection to withstand the attack.
Once the lightning in the sky had accumulated to the desired level, Rose Crystal waved her sword, pointing it at the Black Mound. A torrent of golden-purple lightning instantly rained down on the black slope, dispelling the mist layer by layer before eroding the slope itself.
As the slope disappeared, countless Dementors hidden within were obliterated by the Heavenly Thunder. The lightning continued to erode downward like a flood, until it reached the Breeding Chamber at the bottom of the nest, which had been reinforced numerous times, along with the last batch of Dementors hiding inside, all of which were reduced to ashes.
After the Heavenly Thunder ceased, only a smoldering, blackened crater remained, offering proof that something had once been there. Meanwhile, the Array Plates, which had been operating at full capacity, were completely destroyed, turning into golden-red smoke that dissipated into the sky.
"This time, I might have gone a bit overboard", Rose Crystal said, her expression softening after thoroughly eliminating the Dementors. She looked at the vanished Array Plates and playfully stuck out her tongue. "I hope Big Brother doesn’t scold me for breaking things."
The Array Plates, originally created by Liam, were precious alchemical devices that could be reused, with each one costing at least 2000 Galleons in the Wizarding World. However, Liam hadn’t anticipated that the Miniature Dolls would use Faith Power at all costs to complete their task, which directly led to the complete destruction of all the Array Plates due to overloading.
For Rose Crystal and her companions, on one hand, completing tasks assigned by Liam or Rogen was the value of their existence, so they always gave it their all. On the other hand, having lived with two skilled Alchemists since their creation, they didn’t consider these alchemical devices, which were invaluable in the outside world, to be particularly precious.
Especially since these puppets had seen Teacher Luo Zhen’s millennium-old wealth and Liam’s mountains of gold and silver accumulated across multiple worlds, they naturally didn’t worry too much about the loss of magical artifacts during battles.
After the lightning had completely subsided, the puppets who had been operating the Magic Arrays on the island gathered around, looking at the large, smoldering black crater.
"Did we succeed?" the most childlike Berry cautiously asked, peering into the deep crater.
"Of course, we definitely succeeded", Mercury Lamp, the eldest, said after a careful inspection. "Now we can go back. Father must have finished in the Laboratory by now."
"That’s great", the other Rosary Maidens said happily, even the usually emotionless Snowflower’s lips curved slightly upward.
"Alright, you all head back first. I’ll clean up and follow", Rose Crystal said, sending the other puppets home, then called out Gill to erase the few traces not destroyed by the Heavenly Thunder.
"Let’s go home. It feels really good to have completed the task", Rose Crystal said as she opened the door to the Multiverse General Store and walked in with Gill. "But I’ll report to Big Brother tomorrow. It’s getting late, and he might already be resting."
After the light door disappeared, the island fell into a deathly silence, as if no one had ever been there.
