Chapter 547: The Room That Must Not Be Opened
Chapter 547: The Room That Must Not Be Opened
Transmutation, Material Conversion, and the Elixir of Immortality—these well-known effects alone are enough to prove the miraculous nature of the Philosopher's Stone, living up to its title as the Ultimate Creation.
Ivan thought resentfully that if he hadn't passed out back then, he might have had a slight chance of keeping it.
After all, Nick and Dumbledore were preparing to destroy the Philosopher's Stone. Why not leave it to him?
But then, Ivan sensed something was amiss.
According to Nicolas Flamel's description, the Ultimate Form of a Wizard is comparable to a deity, and the pinnacle of Alchemy could be similar.
If that's the case, Nicolas Flamel, who created the ultimate alchemical creation, had no reason to fear Voldemort, and even less reason to destroy the Philosopher's Stone.
Ivan looked at Nicolas Flamel with confusion and asked, "Sir, you once created a Philosopher's Stone. Does that mean you have reached the pinnacle of Alchemy?"
"Of course not!" Nick shook his head. "The Philosopher's Stone is indeed the ultimate creation of Alchemy, but fundamentally, it is still a Magic aggregate. Utilizing its power is far from easy."
At this point, Nick paused and did not continue. Instead, he reminded Ivan that understanding the Philosopher's Stone was too advanced for his current level of Alchemy.
Ivan shrugged helplessly. The method for creating the Philosopher's Stone was in his mind, and he only needed to advance one more level in Alchemy to meet the minimum requirement for its creation. That's why he was so interested in it.
However, Ivan also understood that the gap between Sixth-Level Magic and Seventh-Level Magic was immense, and advancing would not be easy.
"Thank you very much for your guidance, Mr. Flamel!" Ivan bowed deeply to Nicolas Flamel.
He had no prior connection with this man who was over six hundred years old, yet the Alchemical Master was willing to impart these secret knowledge to him. Ivan naturally remembered this kindness.
"These secrets should not be hidden away. Proper dissemination and exchange can help us progress, don't you think?" Nicolas Flamel smiled gently. In their discussion, he too had gained insights, such as Ivan's interesting perspectives on Spirit and Matter.
"Would I have the honor of learning Alchemy from you and becoming your Disciple?" Ivan asked nervously.
"That's not so easy. You should know that my standards for taking on disciples are very high!" Nicolas Flamel's expression turned serious.
Ivan was surprised and somewhat disappointed. Dumbledore had specifically brought him here, and Nicolas Flamel had explained so many secrets of Magic to him. He thought the Alchemical Master had already decided to take him as a disciple.
Fortunately, Nicolas Flamel soon added that Ivan could stay for a while, read some books, and if he had any questions, he could ask for help.
Ivan realized that Nicolas Flamel was not unwilling to take him as a disciple. He was likely planning to observe him for some time. Otherwise, he wouldn't have allowed Ivan to stay and be willing to help him with his Alchemy questions.
Ding, ding, ding
Just as Ivan was thinking this, a series of clear bell chimes suddenly rang out.
Ivan turned his head and saw that the sound was coming from the old clock hanging on the wall, with its hands pointing to 12 o'clock.
It's been that long already?
Ivan was a bit surprised. He had arrived in the early morning, and before he knew it, several hours had passed in conversation.
"It's already this time. Let's have lunch first, and after we eat, I'll show you around!" Nicolas Flamel glanced at the clock and then tapped his wand on the table.
Several cups and pots slowly floated up under the control of Magic and piled to one side. In the central space, a few plates filled with food appeared out of nowhere.
Due to Nicolas Flamel's advanced age, the lunch was very simple, consisting of plain foods like corn porridge and bread slices.
Ivan didn't mind. He was used to eating steak and cured meats at Hogwarts, so a light meal was a refreshing change.
After a quick lunch and a brief rest, Nicolas Flamel took Ivan on a tour of the Alchemical Cottage.
The entire house was divided into two floors, with the living area downstairs and the sleeping area upstairs.
Although only Nicolas Flamel lived there, the house was well-equipped with various facilities. There were even two workshops for making Magic Items.
The cleaning and maintenance were handled by the Alchemical Creatures that Nicolas Flamel had created.
"Your room is here", Nicolas Flamel led Ivan upstairs and opened the door on the right side.
Ivan followed him inside. It was a small room of about 20 square meters, and although it looked like it hadn't been occupied for a long time, the cabinet and Bedroom were very clean, thanks to the Alchemical Creatures.
"The Study is downstairs, where you can go to read. The adjacent Workshop is also available for you to use", Nicolas Flamel patiently explained the layout of the house and then sternly reminded Ivan not to open the door on the opposite side of the corridor on the second floor.
"I'll be careful, Master!" Ivan nodded, though he was quite curious about the room that Nicolas Flamel had forbidden him from entering. However, he understood that he was new and should follow orders to avoid any trouble.
"I haven't taken you as my apprentice yet, so you don't need to call me Master", Nicolas Flamel waved his hand and said softly.
"But you just shared so much valuable knowledge with me. To me, you are my mentor!" Ivan looked at Nicolas Flamel with a serious expression.
"Suit yourself!" Hearing this, Nicolas Flamel didn't argue and simply replied with a mild tone, effectively accepting the title.
Ivan secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He had been worried that changing his address might upset Nick, but things seemed to be going well.
After giving Ivan some instructions, Nicolas Flamel didn't stay long. He told Ivan to get familiar with the new environment and rest well in the afternoon before leaving the room.
Ivan looked around his new home for the next few months, opened his Trunk, and started organizing his things.
He kept busy until evening. When he was getting ready for bed, Ivan looked out the window and felt like he had forgotten something.
"What could it be?" Ivan frowned and used Occlumency to quickly search his recent memories but found nothing significant.
Forget it, it doesn't matter.
If it's not coming to mind, it probably isn't very important.
