Chapter 547: The Dementor Island
Chapter 547: The Dementor Island
The Dolls found themselves on this island, teeming with Dementors, all because of the task they received from Liam half a month ago.
At the time, Liam had vaguely mentioned that he hoped they could minimize harm to the innocent. After leaving the castle, the Miniature Dolls felt somewhat lost. Fortunately, Rose Crystal, who was connected to Liam's soul, received a lot of information from him. Following her suggestion, the group of Puppets boarded a plane and headed straight for London.
Perhaps the Death Eaters were still spooked by Liam's earlier attacks, or perhaps they were just very busy. The Miniature Dolls roamed London for three days without encountering a single Death Eater causing chaos. Even when they heard about someone being attacked, by the time they arrived at the scene, there was nothing to be found.
This left them feeling somewhat disheartened. The Miniature Dolls didn't want to return empty-handed. Fortunately, at this moment, Canary, the strategist, stepped forward. She pointed out that since their current goal was to eliminate those who harmed the innocent, it would be more practical to focus on the Dementors. Dementors were everywhere, and these evil creatures, even if completely eradicated, would not burden their conscience.
At this point, the Miniature Dolls realized their oversight. As Puppets, they were immune to the effects of Dementors and had not considered them as targets.
After spending a day easily using Faith-Infused Magic to eliminate a few Dementors, Rose Crystal felt unsatisfied. She believed that even if they worked for half a month, they could only kill a few dozen Dementors, which was a negligible loss compared to the hundreds of Dementors out there. This wouldn't make a significant impact, nor would it serve the purpose of teaching the Dark Wizards a lesson and making them restrain their actions to reduce harm to the innocent.
After a few days, the Miniature Dolls understood why Liam had given them this task. Though as Puppets, their values and perspectives differed from humans, they were created out of the love in Liam and Rogen's hearts. Therefore, they naturally shared Liam's and Rogen's disdain for Voldemort and his destructive followers, especially the inherently evil Dementors. Each Puppet did their best to complete Liam's task perfectly.
"If we want to give those evil enemies a profound lesson, there might be a way", Canary said, reflecting on their experiences over the past few days. "I've noticed that these Dementors seem to be social creatures. An old newspaper we found in a Wizarding community mentioned that their numbers are increasing. I suspect they might have a nest for breeding, similar to ants. If that's the case, completely destroying that nest should teach those despicable Dark Wizards a lesson."
"That's a great idea", Rose Crystal nodded. "But how do we find that place? These monsters may look human, but we can't get information from prisoners."
"I think this plan will work", Canary thought for a moment, then gestured for her sisters to gather around and whispered her plan.
The next day, the Miniature Dolls dispersed, each following a small group of Dementors to observe their movements. Within three days, they traced their steps to the Dementor Breeding Ground on an uninhabited island in the North Sea.
Previously, they had taken turns infiltrating the mound where the Dementors gathered, only to be shocked by the sight inside. The mound was like an enlarged termite nest, and at the bottom, several Dementors lay quietly.
At first, they thought it was just a place where Dementors lived. They were curious about why these monsters would sleep. However, during one of Mercury Lamp's reconnaissance missions, she witnessed a Dementor splitting into two black smoke clouds, which then transformed into two Dementors. From that moment on, the Miniature Dolls realized that this place was indeed a Dementor breeding ground.
And they didn't realize that they were the first intelligent Lives to witness the Dementors breeding. Under normal circumstances, with the Dementors' clustering ability, no one could break through their defenses to reach the core area and see this. Dementors only bred in their nests. Back when Newt Scamander was writing "Magical Creatures Whereabouts", he desperately wanted to figure out how Dementors reproduced, but unfortunately, he never managed to do so.
This wasn't due to a lack of power. According to evolutionary theory, Dementors from this world had adapted to detect and feed on the souls of all beings in this world, but they had never encountered constructed Lives like Rose Crystal and her companions before. As a result, they couldn't identify the Puppets and thus couldn't effectively block them.
Today, after observing for over a week, Rose Crystal and her team finally decided to strike when the number of Dementors gathered on the island reached its peak. This was partly due to their good luck, but even if there were fewer Dementors, they would have chosen this moment to act because their agreed time with Liam was approaching, and they didn't want to worry him.
It was 8:30 PM when the Puppets, who had been sitting at the table, stood up to prepare for action. Rose Crystal was the last to leave, gathering all the items in the room before Magic destroyed the Shelter where they had stayed for almost a week.
After finishing this, Rose Crystal stepped outside just as Canary was assigning tasks. "—Berry, you're responsible for the Magic Array at point F, Snowflower, you're responsible for the one at point G."
She then turned to look at Rose Crystal, who had just come out. "Rose Crystal, your task is the most important. You need to handle the main Magic Array near the Dementors' nest in the center of the island. If you don't feel confident, you can skip this point. I've checked the Magic Array Liam gave you; without the main Magic Array, the precision of the attack will be slightly lower, and some Dementors might escape."
"I'm confident", Rose Crystal nodded. "Besides, this is the first time I'm completing a mission without Big Brother. I don't want to leave any regrets."
"Alright, I understand your feelings", Canary nodded and performed an elegant curtsy. "Then, Bonne chance à vous (French for 'good luck')."
"Thank you!" Rose Crystal returned the curtsy and then turned to fly towards the center of the island. Soon, she reached the black mound where the Dementors had gathered and waved her hand next to a stone.
A gust of wind swept across the ground, blowing away the sand and stones that had been used for camouflage. Underneath, a golden disc appeared, measuring one and a half meters in diameter and covered with large and small Seal Scripts drawn in red cinnabar.
This was the Array Plate Liam had given them, specifically designed to enhance the effectiveness of Heavenly Punishment Lightning against dark creatures.
While this alchemical device was less flexible and less powerful than Liam's direct use of Heavenly Retribution, requiring more magic power, its advantage was that it allowed others to use this complex Magic.
Standing at the center of the Array Plate, Rose Crystal summoned the amethyst sword and held it with both hands in front of her. Then, Canary's voice echoed in her mind, "Begin, sisters."
"Cloud Gather." Rose Crystal waved the Crystal sword, and the other Puppets simultaneously recited the command in Mandarin and waved their Magic Artifacts. The once-quiet island slowly began to stir with wind, which grew stronger, causing the surrounding sea to crash wildly against the island's reefs, creating white waves.
Strangely, as the wind grew stronger, small black clouds began to appear in the sky, converging over the large mound in the center of the island, which looked like a Dementor hatchery. The scene resembled an apocalyptic vision, with a dark cloud looming over the island.
The fatal attack on the Dementors was about to descend.
