Chapter 546: Grindelwald: What Do You Want?
Chapter 546: Grindelwald: What Do You Want?
Wade noticed that the entire school seemed to be abuzz with discussions about the Wizarding School Tournament. Many students, unfamiliar with the other schools, had rushed to the library early in the morning to borrow books.
Books related to foreign magical schools quickly became scarce resources, and those who managed to get their hands on them or knew a bit about the situation became the center of attention.
This phenomenon was particularly evident during lunch.
"My cousin attends Beauxbatons", a Ravenclaw girl said casually. "The students there are elegant and well-versed in etiquette. Forest Nymphs sing serenades while the students dine."
Another student said enviously, "The last time someone came to sing at our school was during Halloween when Professor Dumbledore invited the Skeleton Band!"
How could those forest beauties be compared to a bunch of skeletons?
Someone else reminded them, "Have you forgotten? Professor Lockhart also hired Gnomes to sing around the school on Valentine’s Day. I remember you even received a card."
The first student clutched his head in distress. "No, mentioning this just makes me feel even more pitiful!"
Some students excitedly talked about Ilvermorny.
"I heard that many of their students can transform into cheetahs and elephants at will", a freckled boy said confidently. "Magazines say there are only seven Animagus wizards in the world, but it’s a huge mistake. Ilvermorny students are all Animagi."
A classmate countered, "Maybe they aren’t using Animagus magic to transform? I think the Ministry of Magic wouldn’t make such a stupid mistake."
"Personally, I think Durmstrang is the best school. They have a more fair approach to magic and openly study Dark Magic..."
At the Slytherin table, a few boys gathered together, discussing loudly.
Students from other houses showed clear signs of disapproval, and even among the Slytherins, not everyone was keen on Dark Magic.
Suddenly, a girl's voice rang out, "I heard that Mr. Grindelwald used to study at Durmstrang but was expelled... What did he do to get expelled?"
Wade and the others turned their heads to look. The speaker was Daphne’s younger sister, Astoria.
The boys who had been talking about Durmstrang immediately fell silent, some looking awkward, others glaring at the girl with ill-concealed hostility.
When Grindelwald first escaped from prison, the newspapers had already covered why he was expelled from Durmstrang. It was because his "dark experiments" were so extreme that even Durmstrang couldn’t tolerate them.
But Astoria looked around, seemingly genuinely clueless about the reason.
Daphne hurriedly stuffed a piece of pudding into her mouth, scolding her, "Do you know what your biggest flaw is? It’s that you can’t keep your mouth shut!"
"Haha." Michael couldn’t help but laugh, turning to Wade and whispering, "I’ve always thought Astoria is more interesting than her sister."
"Um... maybe..."
Wade said vaguely, taking a sip of pumpkin juice and using the cup to hide his slightly twitching lips. His eyes quickly scanned the teacher’s table.
Mad-Eye Moody wasn’t there.
Wade remembered how Moody had talked to his parents about Grindelwald, with a look of vigilance, wariness, and even a hint of fear, as if Grindelwald were some abyssal demon, ready to emerge and swallow the entire wizarding world.
If he heard the students talking about that person so casually, he might give them a profound lesson in Defense Against the Dark Arts to teach them the cost of underestimating their enemies.
At that moment, Anthony leaned in toward Veed and said, "I've already secured the empty classroom, Veed. When are you free?"
"So soon?" Michael asked, surprised. "Don't we have classes all morning?"
"During the break after Transfiguration, I stayed behind and asked Professor Mcgonagall", Anthony explained. "She was pleased with our plan and gave us an old student club room."
"Then what about the club?" Leanne tilted his head. "Did they move somewhere else?"
Anthony replied, "No, it was a club organized by students a long time ago. Once all the members graduated, they stopped recruiting new members. The club has been defunct for years, but the sign on the door has never been removed."
The school, apart from the main castle, has several towers and annexes. The number of students has never been so high that all areas need to be used, so many places have remained closed or hidden.
Anthony continued, "This evening, I've arranged for a few people to clean it up. We should be able to use it by tomorrow morning at the latest."
After saying this, he looked at Veed with eager eyes.
Veed said, "My schedule is quite full. When I don't have classes, I need to study alchemy. So, the curse remedial sessions can only be on Tuesdays and Fridays. The time..."
Veed hesitated for a moment, then said, "Let's set it for 7 to 9 PM after dinner."
"Great, we can start tomorrow!" Anthony said happily. "I'll go find people right away!"
He rushed off, and Michael looked at Veed in surprise.
Veed sighed and said, "Your suggestion is good, but..."
...
Veed didn't like dealing with too many people. Using the early start as a filter to weed out those who couldn't commit was a good idea.
However, after returning to the dorm last night, Draeven contacted him and mentioned the vampire Gal's situation. He also asked about Veed's recent schedule, and Veed mentioned the tutoring sessions he planned to offer.
Just as he was about to sleep, he received a message from Grindelwald.
"Draeven told me", Grindelwald said straightforwardly. "Veed, I heard you plan to start a... curse remedial class at the school?"
Veed frowned; he didn't like others interfering in his life, especially when Grindelwald's tone was so commanding.
But considering the spells Grindelwald had taught him and the Wizarding Pureblood Party's multiple assists, Veed calmed down.
"Yes, I do", he explained patiently. "It's not much of a hassle for me. I can spare a few hours each week. And I can set strict rules so that those who can't handle it will leave on their own."
A light laugh came from the communication pea pod.
"Veed, your time is valuable, and every action should have a clear purpose... What do you hope to gain from these tutoring sessions?" Grindelwald asked calmly.
