Chapter 545: Something's Not Right
Chapter 545: Something's Not Right
"You used a Love Potion on Lockhart, didn't you, Miss Greengrass?" Snape glared at his house student, his face full of murderous intent.
There was no doubt that Lockhart, that idiot, was currently acting this way due to the effects of a Love Potion.
If it weren't for the crowd of students watching, Snape would have already jinxed Lockhart.
"I really... I really didn't send a Love Potion to Professor Lockhart." Under Snape's intense stare, Quincy Greengrass panicked, her voice trembling with a hint of sobbing.
"Alright, Severus, let's help Lockhart get rid of the effects of the Love Potion first." Professor McGonagall suggested.
Albert noticed that the corners of Professor McGonagall's mouth were slightly lifted, indicating that she was rather pleased by Lockhart's predicament.
It seemed that the professors at school indeed didn't like Lockhart much. Albert was curious about what exactly Lockhart had done during his school days at Hogwarts to make the professors collectively dislike him.
The crowd of onlookers was soon dispersed by Snape, and Lockhart, who was under the control of the Full-Body Bind Curse, was taken to the school hospital by Professor McGonagall.
Madame Pomfrey quickly prepared an antidote for the Love Potion and helped the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor recover from its effects.
After drinking the antidote and regaining his senses, Lockhart's handsome face displayed a range of emotions. He couldn't imagine that he had actually confessed to a student in front of so many people—an incredibly embarrassing situation.
"He's fine now. If you have other matters to discuss, please do so elsewhere." Madame Pomfrey shooed them away.
"My office is nearby," Professor McGonagall offered.
In the corridor outside the school hospital, a group of curious students were whispering, trying to gather more interesting gossip. However, they all scattered in fear when they saw Snape emerge from the hospital with a murderous aura.
"Now, tell us what happened," Snape said coldly after Professor McGonagall closed the door.
"Miss Greengrass, if you like me, you can just tell me directly. There's no need to resort to such methods." Lockhart flashed what he thought was a charming smile at Quincy Greengrass. "But our age difference is quite significant, so a romantic relationship wouldn't be appropriate."
"I really didn't..." Quincy Greengrass was on the verge of tears.
"Then how do you explain the fact that Professor Lockhart was affected by a Love Potion?" Snape's tone was harsh as he glared at Lockhart, signaling for him to be quiet.
If it had been the Lockhart who was still under the influence of the Love Potion, he would have probably tried to punch Snape again.
Professor McGonagall remained silent as well. As a Slytherin student, the decision on how to deal with Quincy Greengrass rested with Snape.
Finally, under the oppressive gaze of Snape, Quincy Greengrass confessed that she had once sent a box of Chocolate Frogs laced with a Love Potion to Albert Anderson.
"That was when he first became the International Wizard Chess Champion, so I..." Quincy's voice trembled as she spoke, but Snape remained unmoved. As a Legilimens, he could tell that Quincy wasn't being entirely truthful.
However, this incident had taken quite a few twists and turns, leaving the three of them momentarily silent.
..."
"You said chocolate?"
Facing Snape's 'friendly' gaze, Albert's expression remained calm. "I don't remember if Quincy Greengrass was among those who sent me snacks."
"You don't remember?" Snape said softly.
"During the summer vacation, I did receive a lot of snacks and letters from people." Albert's lips curved slightly in a faint smile: "Because I have had the experience of receiving malicious letters from strangers, I tend to be cautious about anything sent by people I don't know."
"Hmm, I asked my roommates to help me open those parcels, and indeed, there were quite a few snacks. I shared them with others." Albert said nonchalantly in the face of Snape's 'friendly' gaze: "Of course, I also gave Professor Lockhart some chocolates last time. I'm a fan of his books; the stories are fantastic."
After finishing his sentence, Albert nodded to Lockhart and said, "Sorry, I never thought something like this would happen."
"It's fine; it's not your fault." Lockhart said lightly, and his expression became even more pleasant after hearing that Albert was his fan.
Was this whole incident truly an accident?
Snape felt that something was amiss.
His intuition told him that Albert might be involved somehow, but there was no evidence to prove it.
"Oh, right, Miss Greengrass." Albert turned to face the Slytherin girl and said earnestly, "I already have a girlfriend. Please refrain from doing such things in the future; it makes me very uncomfortable."
"Slytherin loses ten points, and you are confined to the dormitory." Snape said coldly: "I will inform your family about this incident. Now, Miss Greengrass, please return to your common room."
"I think you're being too harsh." Lockhart said to Snape.
"Alright, Mr. Anderson, you may leave as well."
Albert nodded and turned to leave.
There weren't many loopholes in this incident; he had slightly altered Lockhart's memory, making him remember that Albert had given him some chocolates the day before.
In fact, there were indeed some chocolates left on Lockhart's desk.
When Albert exited Professor McGonagall's office, he was immediately surrounded by a large group of students who bombarded him with questions. Albert briefly explained the matter of the Love Potion.
"So, Quincy Greengrass actually wanted to give you the Love Potion." Angelina exclaimed, as she, too, had eaten snacks that Albert had given her.
"Slytherin House seems to favor using such despicable means to achieve their goals." Alicia was quite annoyed, as the incidents with the broomstick and now the Love Potion had left her with a poor impression of Slytherin.
"No, no, Quincy Greengrass didn't genuinely like Albert. She used such a despicable method solely to break up Albert and Isabelle's relationship, purely to make a joke out of them," said Sandra in an unfriendly tone. "That girl is a real bitch."
The more girls who liked Albert, the more girls despised Quincy Greengrass, all because she had resorted to such despicable means.
The following day, the Slytherin girl received a Howler from her family. After the Howler finished shouting, the Great Hall erupted in laughter.
