Chapter 545: Agreement Reached
Wade looked at Anthony, paused in silence, then said, “Professor Moody is an exceptional Auror—his BattleAbility is unmatched by most.”
“I know,” Anthony insisted earnestly. “But even if Moody isn’t the only outstanding Wizard—what about Professor Troke? Professor Abigail? They’re all incredible. Yet, being a great Wizard doesn’t mean you can teach one well. Kevin still struggles with basic Obstacle Spells. If it weren’t for his sharp memory and ability to memorize textbooks, he might’ve failed last term’s Defensive Magic Against the Dark Arts class!”
“But you’re different, Wade… We all know Neville Longbottom started off as a complete mess—his only real strength was Herbology. Outside of that, he couldn’t master a single subject.”
“Don’t even compare him to Kevin. Even Hopkins from Hufflepuff was more agile. And even now, Neville’s memory is still terrible.”
“Yet despite his clumsiness, once he joined your SSC, his academic performance steadily improved to that of an average student. He even had moments of brilliance.”
“Neville always says he didn’t get smarter—he just got better because of your help.”
“Wade, you’re the most effective teacher I’ve ever seen. You know how to adapt your teaching style to each student’s strengths, making it easy for them to learn spells quickly.”
He paused, then added, “I know this request might seem sudden… but the tournament is dangerous. Anyone joining should at least have the ability to protect themselves. Could you… maybe spare a little time to give me some guidance? I swear I won’t take up much of your time!”
Wade stared into his sincere eyes and suddenly said, “Anthony, you’d make a far better Student Council President than Percy Weasley.”
“Huh?” Anthony blinked.
“Once I get my schedule tomorrow morning, I’ll check which time slots are free. I’ll give a lecture on Spell Techniques to the whole house.” Wade continued. “You’ll need to ask Professor for an empty classroom.”
“Got it!” Anthony’s eyes lit up. “We’ll handle all the prep and cleanup afterward. If there’s anything else you need, just say the word!”
“But I have a condition,” Wade said. “I only teach those who truly want to learn. If someone’s just showing up to mess around, slacking off, or causing trouble—I’ll kick them out immediately. You’ll need to warn them in advance. If you can’t accept that, then don’t come at all.”
Anthony grinned widely. “Deal! I’ll make sure only serious people get in—no troublemakers allowed!”
The two boys bumped fists, sealing their agreement.
……
“You actually agreed?”
At breakfast, after Wade told Michael and the others about his talk with Anthony, Michael stared in disbelief. “I thought Anthony was just daydreaming! This kind of thing… you’ve never taken on anything like this before.”
Wade shrugged. “Think of it as protecting Hogwarts’ reputation. We can’t let other schools think we’re just full of empty promises.”
He’d received countless favors and protections from the school—maintaining its honor was only natural.
But Michael still looked shocked, even tilting his head to study Wade closely. “Are you really the Wade I know? Not some fake Human Form Magic Puppet made by someone else?”
Theo rolled his eyes and shoved Michael’s head aside, leaning in himself. “Wade, this tutoring session—is it only for Ravenclaws, or…?”
Wade nodded. “Hufflepuffs are welcome too, if they want to join.”
“Great, thanks!” Theo said, relieved and happy. “I’m always getting asked by people inside the house to help them out. But I know deep down it’s not right to just hand things over like that… it feels off.”
Liam chimed in from beside him. “If Theo ever becomes a Professor, he’ll be the second Professor Binns. You can’t imagine how boring he gets when explaining spells.”
“Come on,” Michael said, looking from Theo to Liam. “We’ve talked just fine before. How could it possibly be that boring?”
Liam paused, then said, “Ever heard a monk chanting prayers?”
Michael: “….”
Theo blushed, scratching the back of his head. “I just think it’s important to explain everything clearly, so people truly understand. But… I don’t know why, but after a while, they just start nodding off.”
After breakfast, Theo and Liam headed back to Hufflepuff. They had Herbology together with Gryffindor that morning.
Michael narrowed his eyes, watching the group of chatting students walking toward the Greenhouses.
“Come on,” Wade said, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. “First class is Transfiguration.”
“Mm,” Michael grunted, standing up and reaching out. “Wade, let me see your schedule.”
Wade handed it over without hesitation.
His schedule was full of handwritten notes and adjustments—Wade had already planned to skip some classes with his yearmates, rearranging time and location accordingly.
Michael scrolled through it, then looked up. “So you’re thinking of scheduling the tutoring session on Tuesday afternoons and Friday evenings?”
“Yeah,” Wade said. “Other times are already taken.”
Michael thought for a moment, then said, “Listen to me—change the plan. Any day works, but the key is moving it to between five and seven in the morning.”
“Huh? So early?” Wade raised an eyebrow.
Even though he was diligent, Wade had recently gotten used to staying up late. He usually woke up around seven or eight, and sometimes even slept past noon—like Michael, who was notorious for sleeping in.
So the idea of “five o’clock” coming from him sounded utterly shocking. It almost felt like a slip of the tongue—maybe he’d meant “afternoon” instead of “morning.”
Michael glanced around, making sure no one else was nearby, then lowered his voice. “You’ve got that thing. Just wake up, do your session, then reset the time afterward. You won’t be late. The real point is, waking up that early will naturally weed out anyone just showing up to fool around.”
As they stepped into the Transfiguration classroom, Michael spotted a few Slytherins already there. He muttered under his breath, “Wade, since you don’t go to the Maze often, you might not know—some Seventh Years are shockingly bad. They don’t even have mastery over basic spells. I’ve wanted to send them all back to the beginning.”
“So just watch. The word will spread fast. Students from Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin—First Years all the way to Seventh Years—someone from every house will want in.”
He grinned. “Five o’clock? Some people might last two days… then quit on their own.”
Wade: “….”
The guy beside him—wasn’t he planning to skip the whole thing from the start? That’s why he was so eager to cut holes in the plan.
