Chapter 544: A New Perfect-Level Nature Transformation
Chapter 544: A New Perfect-Level Nature Transformation
Mu Yue was slightly taken aback by the sudden notification from the system, but upon further reflection, it made perfect sense.
He and Nagato had spent a considerable amount of time together, especially considering his journey through the world of ninjas.
During this time, they had shared mundane teacher-student moments, but they had also faced life-and-death situations and endured betrayal and ambushes. Together, they had experienced more than most.
Mu Yue's actions, especially during their most challenging times, had solidified Nagato's trust in him, and it had culminated in this joyous occasion.
Customarily, Mu Yue should present Nagato with a gift of his choosing.
The system had a reward mechanism where, upon a disciple reaching Trust Level 4, the teacher would receive a substantial amount of gold coins, and the disciple would gain a Perfect-level skill.
All four of Mu Yue's Perfect-level skills were acquired through this disciple trust-level reward system.
However, based on past experiences, Mu Yue knew that it wouldn't hurt to wait a little while before presenting the gift, so he refrained from doing so at that moment.
After all, the setting and atmosphere didn't quite feel right, and it would have been awkward to suddenly give a gift to Nagato while everyone was celebrating their collective efforts.
"You're right, Sensei Sosuke, but your contribution has been the greatest of all," Yahiko said earnestly.
In Yahiko's eyes, putting aside the current Budokai for a moment, Sosuke, as the founder of the Ninja Sect, had led them through countless crises, and his contribution to the sect far surpassed that of anyone else.
The Ninja Sect could do without Yahiko, Konan, or even Nagato and Kakuzu. But it could never have existed without Sosuke.
Without Sosuke, none of this would have been possible.
Even if the Ninja Sect had never come to be, Yahiko would have persevered with his ideals and continued to develop the Akatsuki organization.
However, based on Yahiko's current experience, he knew that he would never have been able to achieve what the Ninja Sect had accomplished.
He might have been able to build a powerful Akatsuki to maintain peace in the Land of Rain, but establishing another ninja sect was beyond his capabilities.
"No, with my previous abilities, I doubt I could have safely expanded the Akatsuki," Yahiko sighed inwardly as he recalled the ambush that had nearly led to the Ninja Sect's destruction.
Although Akatsuki had the ace up their sleeve in the form of Nagato, he needed time to grow and mature.
Yahiko was well aware of his own limitations, and he knew that he could very well have led Akatsuki to ruin before Nagato reached his full potential, just as it had happened with the Ninja Sect before.
"That's an understatement," Kakuzu said as he took a sip of his drink. "If it weren't for Sosuke creating the Ninja Sect, you wouldn't even be sitting here right now."
As the sake slid down his throat, Kakuzu's thoughts drifted to the past.
Who would have thought that a bounty ninja like him would become part of the Ninja Sect's leadership?
After being betrayed by Takigakure, Kakuzu had assumed that he would never trust anyone again. After all, if he could betray his own conviction of protecting his village, what else was beyond betrayal?
But then Sosuke had stepped forward and shown him that there were indeed things worth believing in.
Sosuke was the second strongest ninja Kakuzu had ever faced, second only to Hashirama Senju.
In Kakuzu's opinion, Hashirama was peculiar, but Sosuke was downright strange.
Kakuzu didn't know Hashirama well enough to make a thorough judgment, but Sosuke was, without a doubt, the strangest top-tier ninja he had ever encountered. Sometimes, Sosuke didn't even seem like a ninja at all.
"Perhaps only someone as un-ninja-like as Sosuke could have created the Ninja Sect as it is today," Kakuzu mused to himself.
What had drawn him to the Ninja Sect was not some ancient tradition or Sosuke's strength, but the sect's unique atmosphere, with just a hint of Sosuke's personal influence.
"Hahaha, Minister Kakuzu, your contribution has been immense as well. We owe you a great deal this time," Yahiko said with a laugh, accustomed to Kakuzu's blunt manner of speaking.
"I know, and in the ninja world, being penniless means you're going nowhere fast," Kakuzu acknowledged the compliment with a nonchalant air.
"Can you make money by folding paper?" Konan asked curiously.
Mu Yue often praised her origami skills.
Kakuzu glanced at Konan and shook his head slightly, a hint of regret in his eyes. "If you had placed in the top four of the Budokai, you might have been able to make some money with your intricate origami creations."
Having occasionally discussed money-making schemes with Mu Yue, Kakuzu now had a broader perspective on such matters.
If Konan had been among the top four, her origami would have been marketed as the handiwork of the only female ninja in the top four of the Youth Budokai, and her cute looks would have added to the appeal.
Unfortunately, Konan had not made it that far, and without that distinction, her appeal was significantly diminished.
In the world of ninjas, strength was revered, and good looks alone wouldn't cut it. You had to be both strong and attractive.
Konan's expression turned thoughtful, and then her eyes lit up as an idea struck her. "What if Nagato folds the origami and we sell them?
Longmon's image just didn't fit with the artistic style of origami.
He began with powerful jutsu, and a simple lift of his hand would unleash an irresistible repulsive force. While Longmon didn't have a rugged physique, his combat style exuded a certain simple and brutal beauty that clashed with the delicate art of paper folding.
"Yeah, and Longmon doesn't know how to fold origami either. He'd have to spend time learning," Konan realized that the suggestion wasn't very feasible.
"Guli!"
Gengar suddenly floated out, hovering in front of Longmon and emitting a confident sound.
"Gengar, do you want to help Longmon with origami? But you don't even have hands," Konan pointed out.
Although Gengar didn't look like something from the world of the living, Konan had grown accustomed to its presence and found it rather adorable.
"Guli?"
Gengar's eyes widened in disbelief as it stared at its body, seemingly realizing it lacked hands.
A smile appeared on Longmon's face, but remembering that Gengar was his summoned creature, he struggled to control his expression, trying not to let his smile become too noticeable.
"Hahaha!" Yahiko laughed loudly, not holding back.
Gengar had scared him plenty when they first met.
"Guli!"
Gengar stuck out its tongue, looking dejected, and licked Yahiko. Although it had no hands, its tongue was incredibly long!
As they were eating, Yahiko was unprepared and was suddenly licked by Gengar's tongue.
Instantly, Yahiko felt his body go numb, and he lost control, falling backward.
Longmon, who was sitting next to Yahiko, reacted swiftly and grabbed him, preventing him from falling to the ground.
"As I thought, your body is poisonous. Just one lick and my body went numb," Yahiko commented dryly.
Looking at Gengar, who was surrounded by a purple mist, Yahiko couldn't shake the feeling that Gengar was venomous.
In fact, Yahiko's guess wasn't far off. As a Ghost and Poison-type Pokemon, Gengar was naturally toxic.
"Guli!"
Gengar proudly displayed its venomous nature.
Fortunately, Gengar had only recently been born and wasn't very strong yet, so the numbing sensation it induced faded quickly, allowing Yahiko to continue eating and chatting.
Time flew by when they were having fun, and before Longmon realized it, the banquet had ended, and he was already on his way to the training room.
"This is wonderful," Longmon marveled inwardly.
No matter how many times he reminisced, Longmon felt incredibly fortunate to have met Mu Yue and to be living this life in the Ninja Sect.
Before encountering Mu Yue and joining the Ninja Sect, aside from the time he spent with his parents before their deaths, Longmon cherished the memories of learning ninjutsu with Yahiko and Konan under Jiraiya the most.
While they were supposed to be learning ninjutsu, Jiraiya acted more like a caring elder, guiding them through life.
Before meeting Jiraiya, Longmon had wandered aimlessly for a long time, often going hungry. Now that he had experienced the warmth and care of a reliable elder again, his feelings for Jiraiya were profound.
So, even at this moment, if Jiraiya suddenly appeared before Longmon, he would undoubtedly be thrilled and delighted to greet him.
However, if Longmon had to choose the happiest and most meaningful moment in his life thus far, it would be right now.
In his current life in the Ninja Sect, Longmon had Yahiko and Konan, who had grown up relying on each other, Mu Yue, a teacher he could trust unconditionally, and a group of ninjas who shared his goals and journeyed alongside him.
While the time spent learning with Jiraiya was undoubtedly happy, it didn't compare to the impact the Ninja Sect had on changing the Land of Rain and bringing peace to its people, preventing the creation of more war orphans.
Hence, Longmon felt that his current life in the Ninja Sect held more significance.
"Teacher Mu Yue," Longmon said, spotting Mu Yue in the resting room. He scanned the surroundings and called out Mu Yue's real name.
Although names were just codenames, Longmon preferred to use Mu Yue's actual name when they were alone.
Mu Yue nodded slightly and proceeded to guide Longmon in cultivating the Yang Breath.
The Yang Breath was crucial for Longmon because his Rinnegan eyes weren't originally his.
During normal usage, Longmon's body, endowed with powerful chakra, wouldn't be significantly affected.
However, if he were to use the Rinnegan to its full potential in battle, it would inflict damage on his body.
For instance, using the Super Divine Flying Thunder God Technique or manipulating the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
While the Yang Breath couldn't completely cure Longmon's condition, if cultivated to a high level, it could greatly alleviate the problem.
It would prevent situations where Longmon would have to sacrifice his lifespan by using techniques like the Super Divine Flying Thunder God Technique at full power.
Several hours later, Mu Yue instructed Longmon to take a break while he left the training room.
Longmon thanked him and took the ramen, immediately captivated by its enticing aroma.
Already a little hungry from his training, Longmon quickly picked up his chopsticks and began devouring the noodles, slurping up mouthfuls of the hot broth in between.
The warmth spreading through his body banished Longmon's fatigue, invigorating him instantly.
The only thing he found slightly disappointing was that despite the bowl appearing to be large, it felt like it was gone after just a couple of bites.
Longmon knew it was an illusion; there was indeed a lot of ramen, but it was so delicious that he was so engrossed in eating it that he felt like he had barely eaten anything.
"Thank you so much, Teacher Mu Yue," Longmon expressed his gratitude once again.
With all the affairs of the Ninja Sect and Mu Yue's guidance in his training, as well as preparing this late-night snack, Mu Yue had been incredibly kind to him, and Longmon felt a little embarrassed by it all.
"It was no trouble at all; I was hungry too," Mu Yue smiled, asking Longmon not to worry about it.
[You have gifted your disciple with a bowl of top-quality ramen made by your own hands. The disciple is deeply grateful, and as a reward, you receive a Super Critical Hit - gaining the reward - Water Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation (Perfect-level).]
Along with the reward, a vast amount of memories regarding the Water Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation flooded Mu Yue's mind, rapidly enhancing his understanding and significantly strengthening his ability.
The smile on Mu Yue's face grew even brighter.
The rewards from teaching disciples were somewhat dependent on luck; one might be rewarded with a certain nature transformation or a specific ninjutsu.
Undoubtedly, a perfect-level nature transformation was far more valuable and rarer than a perfect-level ninjutsu, and it would contribute more to one's strength.
"If it were the Lightning attribute, that would be truly perfect," Mu Yue thought to himself, glancing at his ability panel.
[Skills: Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation (Perfect-level), Water Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation (Perfect-level: 1), Lightning Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation (Proficient-level: 7060)...]
The 'Unthinkable Slash' was also a product of an S+ extraction scroll, and if Mu Yue's Lightning Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation could reach the perfect level, the power of 'Unthinkable Slash' would increase significantly.
Another factor was that the Water Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation was only 5,000 points away from reaching the perfect level, while the Lightning Attribute required 8,000 points, making it much harder to upgrade independently.
The next second, Mu Yue stopped thinking about the perfect-level Lightning Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation.
Although drawing the Lightning Attribute with a perfect level would be the most profitable, the perfect-level Water Attribute was still considered good luck.
After all, the higher the skill level, the more difficult it was to increase proficiency, and even if Mu Yue trained for thirty years, he might not be able to make up for those missing 5,000 points.
After organizing his memories, Mu Yue did not continue Longmon's training but instead engaged in a conversation with him.
After all, they had finished the late-night snack, and it was almost bedtime, so there was no need to continue training.
"I wonder when I'll get to eat ramen next," Longmon was still savoring the taste of that delicious bowl.
The ramen Mu Yue made was undoubtedly the best Longmon had ever tasted, no, the best food he had ever eaten.
It was so delicious that Longmon felt a pang of regret that Minami and Yahiko had not gotten to experience such a culinary delight.
However, Longmon understood that Mu Yue was the leader of the Ninja Sect, not a chef.
The fact that Mu Yue was willing to take time out of his busy schedule to make him a bowl of ramen was something Longmon already felt grateful for, and he certainly wouldn't push his luck by asking Mu Yue to make some for Yahiko and Minami as well.
Longmon couldn't bring himself to make such a request, nor did he want to.
Because only he knew how busy Mu Yue was as the leader of the Ninja Sect, juggling not only the development of the sect but also the affairs of Konoha.
PS:
Regarding the comments about the comparison between Blue Flame and Amaterasu making the former seem inferior, I want to clarify.
While Amaterasu may not have impressive feats, its setting and concept are very strong, being touted as the strongest physical attack, among other things.
Of course, due to various reasons and circumstances, its performance hasn't always lived up to the hype, as being the strongest often comes with a price (in this case, winning at the cost of your eyesight).
As for Blue Flame, I personally believe it's quite powerful. After all, using it doesn't cause your eyes to bleed or lead to blindness, and it comes with additional benefits like earth-style additions and growth potential.
As for overpowering abilities, well, the protagonist has achieved this level of strength after only three years of being transported into this world, so it's safe to say this is a semi-invincible story.
As for the slow timeline, this story was initially envisioned differently from most Naruto fanfiction, which tend to focus primarily on the Third Ninja War. With the war concluded, there isn't much content left to explore, and while writing thousands of chapters is a tempting idea, it's practically impossible.
