Chapter 543: Pre-Battle Meeting
Chapter 543: Pre-Battle Meeting
At the Hero Association headquarters, within the confines of the central conference room accessible only to the highest echelons of the association, a gathering of an unusual magnitude was taking place. In addition to the association's executives, numerous S-class heroes had assembled, responding to the emergency summons issued after the Monster Association's declaration of war. With the exception of Blast and Metal Knight, all other S-class heroes were in attendance.
"So, the situation is dire," said Child Emperor, perched at one end of the table, his lollipop-laden mouth delivering a grave assessment as he listened to Sitch's briefing. "Our knowledge is limited to the fact that they've taken Mr. Samanson captive. We're in the dark about almost everything else."
Sitch nodded grimly, his expression somber. "Yes, and the fact that they call themselves the Monster Association indicates they've formed an organized group. While we don't know the extent of their numbers, the fact that they dared to declare war on us directly and casually deploy Disaster-level monsters suggests they possess at least several Dragon-level monsters within their ranks!"
Child Emperor rubbed his temples, a slight headache forming. "Our greatest advantage over monsters has always been their lack of organization and their tendency to act alone. We've had the upper hand in terms of intelligence, while they knew little about us. But now, that advantage has completely flipped."
The Hero Association was clueless about the Monster Association, while the latter might have already gathered extensive information on every hero within the association.
And now, monsters were no longer fighting alone; they had united!
The situation was grave.
"What are your thoughts, Lord Flash?"
Child Emperor turned to the enigmatic man seated at the other end of the table.
Feng Ye, also known as Lord Flash, maintained his calm demeanor. "We strike, and we eradicate them."
"... "
Child Emperor couldn't help but feel exasperated as a black line appeared on his forehead. "Lord Flash, your strength is indeed formidable, but we know nothing about the Monster Association. For all we know, Boros and the Lone Eye Tyrant could be among their ranks."
Leaning back in his chair, Feng Ye replied nonchalantly, "Contemplating such possibilities is pointless. We have two choices: abandon Samanson or take the fight to the Monster Association's turf."
King put down his teacup and raised his left hand. "Then let's just go for it. I agree."
Child Emperor pinched the bridge of his nose. "Shouldn't we at least try to gather some intelligence first? We need to confirm the hostage's situation, at the very least."
"They're just a bunch of monsters," Tornado of Terror interjected, her gaze flicking toward Child Emperor. "Even if they band together, they're still a bunch of useless freaks. I alone... well, we could easily take them out without any fuss. There's no need to overthink this. Are you scared?"
Gleam shone with serenity. "Indeed, there's nothing to fear."
Atomic Samurai, a toothpick between his teeth, chimed in, "Let's just chop 'em all up."
Sipping a lemon drink through a straw, King added, "I think we're overcomplicating things."
As the S-class heroes voiced their agreement, each advocating for a direct assault, Child Emperor felt the weight of their collective impatience pressing down on him. His face darkened, and he finally exhaled in resignation.
Communicating with these battle-hardened heroes was proving futile.
Attempting to command S-class heroes was an impossible task, it seemed.
"The Monster Association has given us a three-day ultimatum," Child Emperor said, "which is clearly intended to force us into action within that timeframe. However, it also indicates that they won't harm the hostage during these three days, or their previous actions would be meaningless.
With drooping eyelids, he addressed Metal Knight, "Hey, you skipped the meeting again, but you must be aware of what's going on. Are you just going to sit this one out?"
"Hehehe, are you at your wit's end? I've already taken some action. Rest assured, once I obtain any intelligence, I'll share it with you all."
Metal Knight let out a hearty laugh on the other side of the screen before abruptly cutting the connection.
Child Emperor closed his computer and let out a sigh. "If that guy starts moving, I'll send out some more remote devices. We should be able to gather some useful information within these three days, and more intelligence will only increase our chances of success."
"Then, the task of gathering information is left to you."
Tornado of Terror straightened up, her left hand pressing against her tiny chest, causing a slight indentation. "Leave the battle in three days' time to me."
Feng Ye glanced at Tornado of Terror and took a sip of tea from his cup.
Despite being defeated consecutively by his Ten-Tails form and then his true form, not to mention facing Boros' eruption, Tornado of Terror's vitality and confidence remained unwavering.
Although she was petite, she was incredibly resilient.
Sitch, the head of the Hero Association's operations department, nodded towards the gathered S-Class heroes. "That settles it, then. In the meantime, please remain at the Hero Association so we can formulate a battle plan and then act accordingly."
Metal Bat, sitting with his bat in hand, waved it around as he spoke. "Hey, that's impossible. Tomorrow's the weekend, and I need to pick up my sister."
"..."
Sitch sighed in resignation.
Just as he was about to say something, a projection suddenly appeared above the conference table—an emergency contact from an association staff member.
"Report to headquarters! An emergency has occurred. The human monster, Hungry Wolf, who was previously defeated by Mr. Lightning Max, has escaped while being transported to prison!"
"Why did it have to happen at a time like this?"
Sitch's face darkened.
The situation with the Monster Association was already troublesome enough, and now with Hungry Wolf's escape, it only added to the chaos.
He turned to Feng Ye, who was seated at the front of the table, and Feng Ye nonchalantly replied, "If he escaped, then so be it. If he shows up again, I'll just capture him again."
Hungry Wolf's escape was something he had anticipated.
As long as he didn't die, he could continue to evolve—a capability Hungry Wolf possessed. Feng Ye had left a marker on him, allowing him to observe Hungry Wolf's movements. If Hungry Wolf could evolve all the way to God-level, it would mean acquiring another high-level nutrient source, increasing the probability of evolving the God Tree, Pain.
Once he accomplished all of this, he would prove one thing—that even without going bald, he could surpass Saitama!
"Hmm..."
Sitch nodded, looking slightly pained. "However, the place where Hungry Wolf escaped is in Z-City, not far from the Monster Association's location."
With an expressionless face, Tornado of Terror said, "That's convenient. If he joins up with the Monster Association and degenerates into a true monster, we can just wipe them all out together."
