Chapter 543: Chu Mo Island (IX)
Chapter 543: Chu Mo Island (IX)
"Demons! Insults won't scare me!" Tian Ma Xing Kong, now fully recognizing the grotesque trees before him, grew bolder. His voice rang out, "Here's a move! Tianma Liuxing Fist!"
Before his words faded, hundreds of silvery-white fist auras shot forward like a meteor shower, crashing into the trees.
But… nothing happened.
"Hahaha!" The Taunting Trees roared with laughter as the attack struck them harmlessly. Not only unscathed, they mocked him outright: "Your punches hit like my little sister! Hahaha!"
"Darn it…" Brother Horse's fury flared as he swung again.
"Save your strength." Feng Bu Jue stepped beside him, calming his shoulder with a firm hand. "They're immune to your attacks. Worse, they're provoking you to attack."
"So… these trees are masochists?" Ji Bu interjected.
"If that was a joke, it flopped", Hong Hu replied. "And if you're serious… that's even worse logic."
Feng Bu Jue continued, "Clearly, they're stalling us." He swept his gaze around. "They hurl trash talk to enrage us into wasting energy." His eyes settled on Tian Ma Xing Kong. "Your attacks only drain your stamina for no reward."
"Ah…" Brother Horse nodded, lowering his fists. "Makes sense. I'll ignore these demons and stay calm."
"Good call." Feng Bu Jue turned to Ji Bu. "Lead the way."
Ji Bu resumed advancing as the group pushed forward. Throughout their conversation, the Taunting Trees hadn't ceased their verbal abuse. Now, with the five moving again, the trees redoubled their insults. But the group had resolved to ignore them, speeding their pace and keeping heads down. Soon, they reached the Taunting Forest's core.
The trees here were thicker, denser—entwined vines like grasping tentacles blocked their path. Ji Bu's axe, [Tree Taunter Must Die], finally proved its worth.
"Ah! You know what you're doing, you bastard!" The trees howled in pain as the blade bit into their vines.
"Of course I do." Ji Bu swung with glee, his face alight with the cruelty expected of an evilfaction member. His menacing grin widened with every hack.
Behind him, Feng Bu Jue suddenly paused. "Hey, Fei Chai Shu—got a light?"
Without a word, Fei Chai Shu tossed him a lighter from his pocket.
"Thanks." Feng Bu Jue caught it, then plucked a twig from the ground, igniting its tip.
"What's he doing?" Tian Ma Xing Kong asked.
"Testing fuel", Feng Bu Jue answered.
"Oh", Hong Hu caught on instantly. "Clever idea."
"Huh?" Tian Ma Xing Kong frowned.
"Feng's checking how long these branches burn", Hong Hu explained. "Trees that resisted Tianma Liuxing Fist must be special."
"Ah!" Fei Chai Shu joined in. "If these Taunting Tree branches are flammable and durable, we should stock up now."
"Exactly", Hong Hu nodded. "In settings like this, we’ll need fire for warmth or cooking eventually. Better to plan ahead."
Feng Bu Jue soon achieved results. "Hah! Knew it'd catch!" After some effort, the twig blazed steadily. He tossed the lighter back to Fei Chai Shu, then retrieved his Catapult, suspending the burning twig before it. "Now let's see how long this lasts."
"Hey! Bastard!" A nearby Taunting Tree spat. "You think this changes your inevitable doom? You arrogant fool! Your brain’s smaller than a mole’s wedding tackle! You're a maggot squirming between stupidity and arrogance! Your efforts are pointless—like translating How to Learn German into German!"
"Relax", Feng Bu Jue grinned at the tree. "Why so worked up? Is that your special spot I'm burning?"
"You shameless worm! Face me one-on-one!"
"I’ll stay right here, thanks", Feng Bu Jue smirked. "Come get me, you idiot~"
"Hey", Hong Hu cut in, "you preach ignoring these trees, yet you're happily trading insults? Planning to collect their trash talk for future use?"
"Shut up… Rain Dragon, you'll die by my hand someday. Your final line will be, 'Why was I born after you?'"
"Suddenly targeting me?! Are you nuts?!"
"Was bored", Feng Bu Jue shrugged.
A while later, Feng Bu Jue examined the burning twig. "As expected—it's lasted this long without shrinking or leaving ash." He released the Catapult button, letting the twig fall. After stomping it out, he added, "Safety and durability—impressive. If the match-selling girl had a box of these, her story wouldn't end in tragedy." He paused, as if recalling something. "Though… if her father was a pervert, the tragedy might still repeat years later…"
"Hey! Enough!" Hong Hu snapped. "Now you're itching to talk about that again? Your mind’s a sewer, isn’t it?"
"Completely lost me", Tian Ma Xing Kong muttered. "But you two seem awfully close."
"Nonsense!" Hong Hu retorted. "He’s not even on my Friend List!"
"Hey, everyone!" Suddenly, Ji Bu halted ahead, glancing back. "Looks like we've got trouble…"
