Chapter 543: A Missing Net
Chapter 543: A Missing Net
After the full moon banquet, Jiang Xia carefully placed the red envelopes received by the triplets into three separate folders, labeling them as "Full Moon Red Envelopes."
Zhou Chenglei, having just finished his bath, asked curiously, "Why aren't you opening them?"
"I'm keeping them for later," Jiang Xia explained. "Mom said these are blessings from our elders for the children, and she wants me to wait before opening them. I plan to let the kids open them themselves when they're three or four years old."
Jiang Xia then placed the folders in a drawer of the wardrobe and locked it.
Zhou Chenglei didn't mind when to open the red envelopes. He approached Jiang Xia from behind and took a vest from the wardrobe, putting it on.
Jiang Xia closed the wardrobe door and turned around, falling into his embrace.
Zhou Chenglei leaned down and kissed her lips gently.
"Not yet," she said softly.
"I know," he replied, intending only to give her a quick kiss without any further intentions. "Let's sleep. The baby might wake up in the middle of the night."
"Mhm," Jiang Xia agreed. She planned to get up early the next day and take a walk.
The next day, Jiang Xia finally had some freedom and could get off the bed. Although she felt physically fine, she had to spend the entire day lying down, without her phone or any books to read, during the hottest days of summer. She had to rely on her calm mind to cool down.
It was indeed uncomfortable! The three days of the college entrance exam during her postpartum period were the only days she felt truly free.
So, early the next morning, after feeding the triplets, Jiang Xia carried her youngest son and headed towards the production team's office. She wanted to see the sea, the boats, and let her son soak up some sunshine. She also hoped to check if there was any mail for her.
In the city, the triplets were exposed to the sun for about an hour each day, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening.
Sun exposure was essential for newborns to prevent jaundice.
Zhou Chenglei's parents also took the older twins outside to enjoy the sunshine.
Meanwhile, Zhou Chenglei had gone to the factory.
Over a month had passed, and the construction of Zhou Chengsen and Great-Grandmother's house was already underway, with the first floor completed and the second floor about to be built.
Yingying expressed her desire to live in one of the upstairs rooms, where she could enjoy the sea view. She believed it would be cooler upstairs during windy evenings. Zhou Chengxin also suggested that Zhou Chengsen build two floors, as the first floor would be too hot.
Zhou Chengxin was also in the process of adding a second floor to his own house.
Both Zhou Chengsen and Zhou Yongguo had sufficient funds to build two floors, and everyone advised them to do so, as adding a second floor later would be more troublesome.
Jiang Xia, carrying her youngest son, walked along, soaking up the sunshine, gazing at the vast sea, and admiring the fishing boats. She arrived at the production team's mail collection area and began searching for her letters.
All the letters were haphazardly piled on a large desk, unattended, and available for self-collection.
Wenwan had just returned from the town post office, where she inquired about any registered letters addressed to her, but there were none.
Sometimes, letters were delivered directly to the production team's office.
So, she decided to check there. As she approached, she noticed Jiang Xia searching for letters while holding her child with one hand.
Apparently, she was also looking for her college admission notice.
Wenwan felt relieved.
In reality, it was unlikely for the notice to arrive so quickly, as mail delivery was rather slow during that time.
But what if it did arrive? What if someone else saw and took it?
In those years, there were numerous cases of identity fraud for university admissions.
Especially for someone like Jiang Xia, who hadn't attended classes and whose academic performance was unknown, but came from a somewhat influential family.
Wenwan decided to check for mail every morning from then on.
She didn't want anyone to steal her admission notice.
As she approached, she subconsciously glanced at the child in Jiang Xia's arms.
Dressed in a light yellow outfit, the baby's gender was unclear. It resembled both Jiang Xia and Zhou Chenglei, with a reddish complexion and slightly wrinkled skin. The only part that seemed truly fair was its tiny hand.
Unlike her own daughter, who was born plump and fair, Jiang Xia's child appeared a bit underdeveloped. The term 'triplets' sounded appealing, but single births were generally healthier.
Wenwan felt a hint of satisfaction upon noticing that Jiang Xia's child wasn't as attractive and healthy as her own daughter.
Jiang Xia didn't even look at Wenwan, but instead turned to block her view, not letting her see his son.
Jiang Xia quickly found his letter, which was written by Amy. The last time Gil came to look for her and Zhou Chenglei, he mentioned that Amy had sent her a letter to the village address.
Jiang Xia took the letter and left. Halfway through, he heard the broadcast saying that there would be a typhoon in two days, and asked everyone not to go out to sea and to take their boats to the shelter port in advance.
Jiang Xia returned home and told Zhou Fu: "Dad, did you hear the broadcast?"
"I heard it, but we can't go out to sea."
Today, Zhou Fu had planned to take his grandson to the village to show off, and then go to the town to buy some vegetables and prepare to go out to sea after two days. Let's see how lucky the three little Wangs are after they are born^_^?
After all, he had held three money-attracting children for a month, and even his hair was filled with luck!
He had calculated it all! Each grandson would show off in the village for a day, and just three days later, they would go out to sea. But now, the plan to go out to sea during the typhoon has been ruined!
However, it doesn't matter. If they can't go out to sea, they can just stay at home and take care of their grandchildren. After waiting for ten or eight days, when even their pores are filled with luck, then they can go out to sea.
Make a bountiful harvest!
Today, Zhou Chenglei went to the factory in the morning to check on the progress, and only returned at noon. Jiang Xia told him about the typhoon.
Zhou Chenglei was at the construction site and didn't know about it. After eating, he took the boat out to sea and called his comrades from the production team to notify them not to go out to sea until after the typhoon.
After making the call, Zhou Chenglei and Zhou Fu took the small wooden boat out to sea to notify the people on the island to return to shore and check the net cages.
Halfway through their journey, Zhou Fu put down two nets, and they would collect the nets on their way back.
Zhou Fu thought it would be good to catch a few fresh fish for dinner.
However, in the evening, when they returned, Zhou Fu discovered that the net was a bit heavy when he pulled it up!
The father and son worked together to pull up the entire net.
The net was full of sharphead mullet!
The fishing net was full of sharphead mullet.
Probably about fifty or sixty pounds of sharphead mullet, and behind them were ten or so Cape croakers, a dozen yellow croakers, a few black drums, and some miscellaneous fish.
"Let's go and collect the net."
Zhou Fu excitedly took the initiative to drive the boat.
Zhou Chenglei untangled the fish from the net.
However, when Zhou Fu arrived at the area where he had previously put down the net, he couldn't find the fishing net.
"Was it washed away by the waves?" Zhou Fu looked at the sea surface with its undulating waves.
Zhou Chenglei also looked around but didn't find it.
Zhou Fu continued to drive the boat in the direction of the current, hoping to find it.
Not long after they set off, a float suddenly surfaced.
It was right next to the boat, and Zhou Chenglei quickly grabbed it.
Zhou Fu saw that the float was a bit abnormal and immediately took out the netting scoop: "Pull it up and take a look, be careful, it might be entangled by a big fish."
Zhou Chenglei slowly pulled up the net, and he could feel the pulling force of the fishing net, indicating that there was a big fish struggling.
He pulled it up with increasing caution.
Zhou Fu immediately knew that a big fish was entangled in the net.
"Be careful, don't let it get away!"
Zhou Fu quickly helped to pull it up.
When they pulled it up, they only saw a few white croakers hanging on the fishing net.
However, it was so heavy, it definitely wasn't just white croakers.
Zhou Fu exerted force with his hands, his eyes fixed, and his heart tightened.
As more and more of the fishing net surfaced, a giant emerged.
Zhou Fu's eyes widened!
This fish was amazing!
This unlucky fellow didn't know how it got entangled and struggled, wrapping itself completely in the fishing net.
It turned out that it was better for his son to pull up the net!
He only occasionally held his three grandsons, and his pores were filled with luck. His son was surrounded by four lucky charms day and night, and his blood was filled with luck!
Thank you to all the partners who voted and rewarded.
It's time to cut your hair for the Dragon Raising Head Festival!
