Chapter 542: Britain's Special Wizards (3000 Words)
While Joseph and the others were being punished, Ivan was leading the remaining Wizards through a long-distance running drill.
However, the Wizards' performance left Ivan feeling extremely disappointed.
Perhaps due to their reliance on the convenience of Magic, their bodies were quite weak. A little over an hour of running had already left them struggling.
By the end of the run, only Walker and the other werewolves still had some energy left. The rest of the Wizards were so exhausted they could barely stand.
"Good heavens, why are we practicing long-distance running and standing in formation? We are Wizards!"
"I can just Apparate to the finish line, and even the fastest Muggles couldn't catch me!"
The Wizards in Special Training were quite dissatisfied, but they only dared to grumble quietly among themselves, falling silent the moment Ivan's gaze fell upon them.
"Keep running! Those who fall behind will stand in Military Stance for an hour after the drill!" Ivan had no intention of coddling them and barked out the order.
Hearing this, the group stiffened and hurried to pick up their pace.
While most of them thought standing for an hour didn't seem like a big deal, they were all exhausted from the long run and wanted to rest as soon as possible.
Some even envied the three Wizards who had been punished earlier. They had been subjected to this grueling long-distance run, while the three only had to stand in place, which seemed much easier in comparison.
Especially Joseph, who had only been a minute or two late. By the time they returned, he might already be resting in the shade of a tree.
However, when they finally made it back to the starting point, they were all stunned.
The situation was not as they had imagined. Joseph and the others were still standing there, drenched in sweat and looking worse for wear.
Ivan was not at all surprised. It was their first time standing in Military Stance on a hot summer day, and staying completely still was almost impossible. As long as Fenrir set a high enough standard, he could have them stand all day if he wanted.
"Fenrir, how much longer do they have to stand?" Ivan asked.
"Joseph has about two more hours, and the other two will have to stand for four to five hours!" Fenrir shrugged in reply.
Hearing this, the Wizards, who were already hot and tired, felt a chill run down their spines. They remembered that Joseph was only supposed to stand in Military Stance for an hour when they left.
How could it be that after over an hour of running, the time hadn't decreased at all and had even increased?
They looked at each other, quickly realizing that standing still for an hour was not as easy as they had thought. Otherwise, Joseph and the others wouldn't have deliberately broken the rules knowing they would be punished.
Seeing Joseph and the others gritting their teeth and struggling to hold on, they finally understood the severity of this punishment.
This was truly terrible!
Ivan noticed the change in the Wizards' attitudes and was inwardly satisfied. Punishments were meant to instill fear, and this one would surely leave a lasting impression.
With this in mind, Ivan shifted his gaze from Joseph and the others, only to notice some Wizards sneaking a sit on the ground, apparently planning to rest for a moment.
"Don't sit down! Who gave you permission to rest? Stand up!" Ivan scowled and immediately stopped their attempt.
The Wizards who had tried to take a break quickly jumped to their feet, afraid of being punished, though they inwardly grumbled about Ivan's lack of humanity, not even allowing them a moment's rest.
Ivan, of course, could see through their thoughts and shook his head, explaining:
"Remember, it's best not to sit down immediately after intense exercise! During intense activity, the cardiovascular system works harder, and blood flow accelerates. If you suddenly relax, it can be harmful to your body rather than beneficial."
Ivan spoke with the knowledge he had gained from his physical education classes in his previous life.
After practicing Occlumency and Legilimency, his memory had improved significantly, and he could still recall these lessons vividly from years ago.
Unfortunately, the cultural level of the Wizards in the Wizarding World was too low, and they could barely understand this biological knowledge. They all looked at him with puzzled expressions.
While they vaguely felt that Ivan's lengthy explanation made sense, they still wanted to lie down on the grass and rest.
Frustrated by their lack of understanding, Ivan had no choice but to order them to perform some light stretching exercises to help their tired bodies relax.
If possible, Ivan would have preferred to be kinder to them, but experience had shown that sometimes a firmer approach was necessary.
There was no other way; it was a necessity forced upon him!
Ivan silently complained to himself but maintained a calm demeanor. After leading them through some relaxation exercises and a half-hour rest, he had them practice standing in Military Stance again.
This continued until noon, and only when he saw the Wizards finally starting to resemble soldiers did Ivan announce the end of the day's training, feeling somewhat unsatisfied.
The Wizards present all breathed a sigh of relief. If the training had gone on any longer, they might not have been able to keep up.
Joseph and the others, who were still standing, were finally freed, but they were far from happy. Ivan had only allowed them to postpone their punishment, which they would have to complete the following day.
Ivan watched as the Wizards one by one used Apparition to disappear, finally stopping Fenrir and reminding him to loosen the "Movement" standards a bit tomorrow, so as not to make things too difficult for Joseph and the others.
Fenrir was initially taken aback but quickly understood Ivan's intentions.
The purpose of punishment measures was to serve as a deterrent, not to torture people. If the standards were truly enforced, those three Wizards might end up standing forever.
Fenrir nodded in agreement, indicating that he had taken the advice to heart. He then asked about the usual enforcement levels before turning to leave.
"Mom, what do you think?" Once the others had dispersed, Ivan turned his head to look at Asia, who was standing nearby, and asked for her opinion.
"Not bad, the training seems quite effective!" Asia closed the book in her hands and said with a sigh.
After observing the training for the morning, Asia had a general understanding of the process, and the results were very noticeable. The Wizards had already begun to form a small group by the time they left.
Ivan smiled. Modern military training was a treasure refined over thousands of years by various countries, of course, it was effective!
Ivan was about to share this knowledge with Asia when he noticed the book in her hand.
Glancing at the cover, Ivan's expression suddenly twitched. It clearly read *British Royal Special Forces Training Manual*.
"Where did you get this book?!" Ivan couldn't help but ask.
"Didn't you suggest I read some Muggle books? So I went to a bookstore in London early this morning", Asia said with a smile.
Then, Asia took out some more books from her Wizard Robes, which had been enchanted with an Extension Charm, and showed them to Ivan. They were all related to training Marines and Special Forces.
"Although Muggles don't have Magic, they have some valuable insights. For example, the Professors' techniques for infiltration are very useful for tracking and assassination. If combined with Polyjuice Potion and the Disillusionment Charm, few people would be able to detect them."
Asia's eyes sparkled as she explained, giving more examples, clearly very interested in the subject.
Ivan, seeing Asia's eager expression, began to doubt whether suggesting she read Muggle books was a good idea.
Judging by her enthusiasm, Asia seemed to be planning to incorporate some Special Forces training methods into the upcoming training.
His original intention was just to have Asia understand the basics of military training. Ivan never expected her to buy this type of book.
"Cough, Wizards are not Muggles, so there's no need to train them so rigorously!" Ivan cleared his throat and cautiously suggested.
He just wanted the Wizards to be more obedient and stay in Knockturn Alley to improve their strength, not to create a group of Wizards proficient in assassination, survival, and special operations. That would be too terrifying!
"I know, those methods are for training Muggle soldiers, and some of them are not suitable for Wizards", Asia nodded.
Ivan felt much more relieved, but then Asia added, "So I'll find a more suitable way to train them!"
No, I don't think that's a good idea!
Ivan opened his mouth to persuade her but quickly closed it again when he saw Asia's excited face. He decided it was better not to push his luck.
Can't provoke, can't provoke!
Ivan silently mourned for the Wizards for a moment. He would be leaving Knockturn Alley the next day and wouldn't be able to do anything about their fate!
May they have good luck.
In the afternoon, after lunch, Ivan returned to his small room to pack his belongings.
He didn't have much, planning to take only a few clothes and some alchemical creations. However, Asia had other ideas.
"You should bring more clothes, and take a blanket and a pillow. How about a Magic tent? I don't know if you'll get used to living there."
As she spoke, Asia packed various "possibly" needed items into the small suitcase, which Ivan had enchanted with an Extension Charm to serve as a small storage space.
Ivan felt a headache coming on. The box, which should have been a small storage space, was now crammed full by Asia.
"By the way, the letter didn't mention an address. How will you find that Alchemical Master?" Asia asked.
"Um, I'll wait at the Leaky Cauldron, and someone will come to pick me up!" Ivan spoke vaguely.
"So close? I might as well see you off!" Asia's eyes lit up. Even though Ivan said he was meeting an Alchemical Master like Nicolas Flamel, she was still a bit worried.
"No, I can go by myself!" Ivan quickly shook his head.
Asia looked at Ivan suspiciously, and after a moment, her face turned sour. She had a hunch about something and discontentedly tapped Ivan's head.
