Chapter 541: At Least I'm Not the One Punished the Longest
Chapter 541: At Least I’m Not the One Punished the Longest
Ivan gave a long series of instructions.
Asia listened quietly by his side, waiting for Ivan to finish before gently ruffling his hair and smiling.
“I’ll keep an eye on them for you, so don’t worry about this place. Just focus on your own studies!”
However, Asia was somewhat curious about the training methods Ivan proposed.
She understood the evening combat drills, which were meant to improve the Wizards' combat skills. But the daytime exercises, such as weighted running and standing in Military Stance, puzzled her.
“These two exercises are to train their discipline and obedience!” Ivan explained.
Ivan wasn’t sure how the Ministry of Magic trained Aurors, so he had to approach it from two angles: enhancing the personal abilities of Fenrir and the others, as well as their obedience.
“Especially those Wizards from Knockturn Alley, who are used to a lax lifestyle. If they aren’t properly disciplined, they might defy orders when it really matters.”
“Muggles train their armies this way. If you have time, you can buy some related books from Muggle bookstores. They aren’t Wizards, but some of their training techniques can still be useful,” Ivan added.
Asia nodded thoughtfully. Like Ivan, she had no experience in training Wizards, so picking up a few books to learn more wouldn’t be a bad idea.
After discussing the training, Ivan reminded Asia to be vigilant about the recently surrendered Pureblood Wizards and to keep an eye on Notte.
He even mentioned some minor details repeatedly.
“I know, I would do these things even if you didn’t remind me!” Asia pinched Ivan’s cheek, amused. “If there’s nothing else, why don’t you go to sleep? It’s already late, and you need to demonstrate your training methods to me tomorrow.”
Ivan felt more at ease and yawned as he returned to his room.
The next morning, after getting up and washing up, Ivan called Fenrir to issue the assembly command, starting a new round of Special Training!
Perhaps because the previous day’s combat drills had gone late, three Wizards failed to arrive on time today, including Joseph, who had been the last to arrive before.
When Ivan’s gaze swept over them, the late Wizards quivered, ready to explain. But before they could speak, Ivan cut them off.
“I thought I made it clear that there are no excuses!”
Ivan’s eagle-like eyes made the three Wizards feel as if they were in an icy tomb. Their faces turned pale as they imagined the punishments they might face, their bodies trembling.
Crucio? Or some other Dark Magic?
However, Ivan’s punishment was different from what they expected. The rules were simple: for every minute late, stand in Military Stance for an hour!
Just that?
Joseph was surprised by the leniency.
Standing for a while? It didn’t seem that difficult. The slowest among them was only two minutes late, meaning they would stand for a maximum of two hours.
“Fenrir, you’re in charge of supervising them. If anyone moves during this time, add another half hour!” Ivan noticed the expressions on Joseph and the others’ faces and turned to Fenrir, a cold smile on his lips.
"Yes, Lord Hals!" Fenrir nodded, looking at Joseph with a mixture of pity.
Fenrir had already demonstrated the Military Stance to them earlier, and he had secretly tried it himself during the break yesterday. He knew very well how difficult it was to maintain this position for hours without any Movement.
Despite his pity, Fenrir dared not show any leniency. He immediately pulled Joseph and the others out of the crowd and corrected their posture.
"Hands by your sides, straighten up, tuck in your waist, yes, just like that! Joseph, are you blind? Look at how they are doing it!"
Under Fenrir's scolding and correction, the three Wizards quickly assumed the standard Military Stance, standing straight and rigid.
"From now on, I don't want to see you move an inch!" Fenrir warned.
The unfortunate Wizards wanted to nod but dared not move, fearing that Fenrir might find an excuse to extend their punishment.
Joseph appeared the most relaxed, as he had only been a minute or so late. In other words, he only had to stand for a little over an hour!
However, as time passed, Joseph's relaxed expression gradually faded, and his face became increasingly grim. He felt as though he had been standing for a long time, with his legs aching and nearly unable to hold him up.
More importantly, it was the height of summer, and even though it wasn't noon, it was incredibly hot.
Joseph felt his back was drenched in sweat, and a few droplets occasionally slid down his forehead, seeping into his clothes, causing an uncomfortable itch.
Joseph wanted to scratch and wipe the sweat from his forehead, but he remembered Fenrir's warning and dared not move. He only shifted his gaze to Fenrir, hoping to gauge how much time had passed.
Fenrir remained silent, standing like a statue, his eyes fixed on them.
Each second felt like a torture, and the worst part was that Joseph had no idea how much longer it would last!
In this state of anxiety, a drop of sweat slipped past his brow and fell into his eye. Joseph couldn't help but blink rapidly, and his body swayed slightly as a result.
Joseph's face changed, and he inwardly cursed, stabilizing his body as quickly as possible, hoping Fenrir hadn't noticed.
Unfortunately, his reaction was a bit too slow, and Fenrir's harsh voice cut through the air.
"Add thirty minutes! You have fifty minutes left!"
Hearing this, Joseph's mind went blank, and he nearly collapsed, feeling deeply frustrated.
Without the extra time, the punishment would have ended in just twenty minutes. Now, he had to endure another fifty minutes!
After standing for so long, Joseph felt he was reaching his limit.
As time went on, his condition worsened, increasing the likelihood of more mistakes. It was a vicious cycle.
He finally realized the terror of this punishment. In comparison, Joseph would have preferred to endure the Cruciatus Curse, which would at least be over quickly.
The only thing that gave Joseph some solace was that he wasn't the only one being punished. The two other Wizards standing with him soon followed in his footsteps, with the unluckiest one violating the rules three times in a row.
This thought made Joseph feel a bit better, as he wasn't the one being punished the longest.
