Chapter 54: S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Arrives
Chapter 54: S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Arrives
"About time!"
Jerry checked the time; it was already 6:40. He mounted his flying broom and flew towards the abandoned factory.
Initially, he only intended to make a quick appearance in public, so people would know he had been there at that time. However, he happened to encounter someone who had fallen into the water and decided to save them, which also earned him a few Little Red Stars.
He avoided the crowd and returned to the abandoned warehouse. Just as he was about to change out of his wizard outfit, his ears perked up, and he immediately pulled out his wand, pointing it at a rusted machine in the warehouse and shouting sternly:
"Who's there? Come out!"
At the moment, he was still in a superhuman state, with heightened senses. He had just detected an unfamiliar scent behind the rusted machine, one that didn't belong in the warehouse.
"Hello, Wizard, I mean no harm!"
At that moment, a tall, beautiful woman in a specialized combat suit, with her hands raised to show she was unarmed, slowly emerged from behind the machine.
This woman was none other than Maria Hill, the top agent dispatched to New York by Director Fury.
Hill was also somewhat surprised. She hadn't expected this wizard to not only be skilled in magic but also to have such a keen sense of awareness.
As a top agent, Hill's stealth skills were top-notch. She had hidden behind the rusted machine without making a single sound. How had he detected her?
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
Jerry didn't let his guard down just because the woman was beautiful and had her hands raised.
"I'm not an enemy. My name is Agent Maria Hill, and I work for S.H.I.E.L.D. Here's my business card!"
Hill took a business card from her combat suit and slowly approached Jerry, handing it to him.
"I'd like to talk to you. Do you have some time?"
"S.H.I.E.L.D.? That name sounds familiar!"
He quickly searched his memory for information from his previous life. Soon, he recalled that S.H.I.E.L.D. stood for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division.
"Sorry, I have something urgent to deal with right now. How about this: meet me here at midnight, and we can talk then."
Jerry put away his wand, changed out of his wizard outfit, and stuffed it along with the flying broom into his guitar case. He checked the time, not waiting for Hill's response, and then dashed out of the warehouse at a sprint, disappearing over the wall with a few agile leaps.
"Alright then!"
Hill was taken aback for a moment, watching Jerry's disappearing figure with a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth.
After arriving in New York, Hill had not yet found Dr. Banner, so she began investigating this wizard who could perform magic.
However, after a series of investigations and accessing all the police records, she discovered that the wizard had taken great care to hide his identity.
Surprisingly, none of the cameras in all of Queens had captured footage of the wizard's face.
Initially, his disappearances were accompanied by a cloud of smoke, and later, he would fly off on his broom, making it extremely difficult to track him.
Even when she accessed satellite images, she could only see him entering and exiting an abandoned warehouse; nothing else.
Now, she could confirm that this wizard boy was likely a Chinese-American, between the ages of nine and thirteen, and lived in one of the nearby apartment complexes near the abandoned warehouse.
His initial activities were centered in this area.
However, this part of the city was densely populated, with numerous apartment complexes and many children who fit the description. Finding the right one wouldn't be easy.
So today, she personally came to this warehouse, hoping to uncover some clues.
She didn't expect to run into the person she was looking for right away.
Deciding to be straightforward, she revealed her identity and planned to have an honest conversation face-to-face.
After all, the other party was still a passionate and highly principled child.
However, the outcome was somewhat unexpected.
Finding a secluded spot, she removed her mask, used a transfiguration charm to change her guitar case into a suitcase, and altered the style of her coat. Only then did Jerry rush back towards her neighborhood.
He had to get home before Hass, or else he would be caught.
"Give me a box of ice cream and a bottle of mineral water!"
Passing by a convenience store, Jerry remembered his promise to buy Elsa some ice cream and paused for a moment.
Five minutes later,
At the front door of their home, Jerry opened the box of ice cream, quickly ate it all, and then poured in the mineral water. He took out his wand and cast a transfiguration charm on it.
Instantly, the box of mineral water transformed into a new box of ice cream.
He definitely couldn't let Elsa eat the ice cream; it wasn't good for her teeth, and she wouldn't want to eat dinner later.
But to ensure Elsa didn't reveal that he had gone out, he had to use the transfiguration charm as a substitute.
As soon as Jerry pushed open the door, Elsa, who had been eagerly waiting, pounced on him.
"Jerry, Jerry, where's my Magic ice cream? Where's my Magic ice cream?"
"Here, take it and eat it. I need to start cooking, but you should eat quickly, or Dad will be home soon and that could be trouble!"
Jerry handed the box of ice cream to Elsa with a serious expression.
Elsa happily took the ice cream and started eating it with her spoon, her speed matching Jerry's urgency at the door.
After giving the ice cream to Elsa, Jerry rushed to the kitchen, closed the door, and took out his wand to start using Cooking Magic.
Fifteen minutes later, Elsa, who had finished her ice cream, sat on the sofa and patted her belly, mumbling in confusion:
"Why do I not feel full at all after eating such a large portion of Magic ice cream? I just need to go to the bathroom!"
Normally, her little belly would be full after eating an entire box of ice cream, but this time, she didn't feel full at all.
"Click!"
At that moment, the sound of the door being unlocked came from the entrance.
Hass and Belle walked in.
"Elsa, where's your brother Jerry?"
Hass asked Elsa as soon as he entered.
"Jerry is in the kitchen!"
Elsa pointed towards the kitchen.
Hass immediately hurried over.
"Hey, Dad, you're back. I just need to add the tomato and egg soup. You can take these dishes out first!"
Jerry, seeing Hass enter the kitchen, poured the beaten eggs into the soup and pointed to the seven steaming dishes on the cutting board.
"Sure thing!"
Hass, taken aback by the sight of the seven hot dishes on the cutting board, quickly recovered and began to carry them out, smiling.
From what he had heard on the radio, the wizard who saved the day took over thirty minutes to rush home.
The seven dishes in front of him clearly couldn't have been prepared in just thirty minutes, especially the more complex ones, which required a lot of time. It seemed that his son Jerry wasn't the wizard with magical powers after all.
This result, however, greatly relieved him.
