Chapter 54: Might Guy’s Stats – Please, No More Fighting
“If that’s all the strength you have,” Sasuke Uchiha said, smirking as he watched Rock Lee’s stunned expression, “you won’t stand a chance against Izayoi.”
Rock Lee lowered his head, shadows obscuring his eyes as he slowly unwrapped the bandages from his hands. “Sensei… I’m sorry,” he murmured. “I might have to break that taboo after all, because…”
Suddenly, he snapped his head up, determination blazing in his eyes. “I must prove myself to this man right here!”
In an instant, Rock Lee’s entire aura shifted.
Just as the two prepared to clash again, a loud poof echoed through the hall. A cloud of white smoke erupted beside Rock Lee. When it cleared, a man wearing an identical green jumpsuit—though with an added green flak vest—stood atop a giant scarlet turtle, striking a comically exaggerated pose. “You kids sure are full of youthful energy!” he boomed.
“Ew… thicker eyebrows!”
Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno froze in shock at the sight.
Sasuke’s fighting spirit evaporated instantly, his eye twitching. Even Hinata Hyuga and Shino Aburame gaped, momentarily convinced this was Rock Lee’s older brother—or father.
Only Izayoi remained composed, studying the newcomer with quiet interest.
Two purple bubbles hovered around Might Guy’s head:
【Taijutsu Master (Purple)】
【Kage-Level Potential (Purple)】
True to his resemblance to Rock Lee, Might Guy’s stats were a tier higher—matching Deidara’s dual-purple rarity. But Izayoi knew that even in his normal state, Might Guy wasn’t a Shadow-Level fighter. Yet the system still labeled his aptitude as Shadow-Level Purple—a testament to his peak potential, including his legendary power.
The Eight Gates Formation… just as Izayoi suspected, it was a technique capable of rewriting fate itself.
“You must be Kakashi and Kurenai’s team?” Might Guy bellowed, striding toward Team 7 and Team 8. “What youthful students!”
Team 7 could only stare at his monstrous eyebrows, their faces twitching.
Izayoi bowed politely. “Guy Jōnin.”
Hinata and Shino followed suit, murmuring, “Guy Jōnin.”
“You know me too? Hahahaha!” Might Guy flashed a thumbs-up, his teeth gleaming. “Of course! Kakashi and I are eternal rivals, recognized as such by the village!”
“Wait—he’s an Elite Jōnin like Kakashi Hatake?”
“That’s impossible! He’s… him?”
Team 7 gawked. While they’d never seen Kakashi fight, Izayoi’s accounts of his exploits left no doubt about his strength.
“You’re being rude!” Rock Lee snapped, stepping forward. “Guy-sensei speaks the truth! He’s one of Konoha’s top fighters—a legendary taijutsu master! He, Kakashi-sensei, and Kurenai-sensei were even classmates!” He pointed at the clock. “And we’re running late for the exam!”
“Oh right—the test!”
Might Guy ruffled Rock Lee’s hair. “Normally, breaking the no-technique taboo would earn punishment. But given the circumstances… we’ll save your penalty for after the Chūnin Exams!”
“Yes, sensei!” Rock Lee saluted sharply.
Team 7, now thoroughly numb to the duo’s antics, watched silently as Izayoi led Team 8 out of the Administration Building.
“Hey, Sasuke,” Naruto grinned, falling into step beside him. “When did you become Izayoi’s little follower?”
“Dobe, you wanna die?” Sasuke’s eye twitched violently, a red mark blooming on his forehead as he glared at Naruto.
“Make me!” Naruto jabbed a finger ahead. “Go on, Sasuke—hit him!”
Sasuke lunged, and the two rivals began their usual brawl—punching and kicking as they shuffled forward.
“Stop it! Please, stop fighting!” Sakura pleaded, her inner self secretly cheering Sasuke on.
“Let’s pick up the pace,” Shino muttered, uncharacteristically eager to escape the spectacle.
Izayoi, Hinata, and Shino quickened their steps, leaving the brawling duo behind.
Moments later, they reached the exam room. Kurenai Yūhi, Kakashi Hatake, and Asuma Sarutobi waited outside with three other genin.
“I’m glad you’re all here,” Kurenai smiled. “This is Asuma Sarutobi, Team 10’s instructor. You may call him Asuma-sensei or Asuma Jōnin.”
“A pleasure,” Asuma said, eyeing Izayoi. “I’ve heard about you from Ino and Shikamaru—the rookie team topping the charts. Kurenai’s quite lucky.”
“We’re honored,” Izayoi replied modestly.
Kakashi explained their presence: the Chūnin Exams required full teams. “If even one of you failed to show,” Kurenai added, “you’d be disqualified.”
Shino and Hinata nodded in understanding.
“Good luck,” Kurenai said, opening the door. “We’re counting on you.”
“We won’t disappoint you,” Izayoi said, leading Hinata and Shino inside.
Team 7, still squabbling, trailed behind.
