Chapter 54: Mastering Taijutsu
Chapter 54: Mastering Taijutsu
Friday morning in the Ninja Academy's Class 1-A.
The students were discussing their upcoming taijutsu class.
"Should we do the same as last time?" one student asked.
"Not today," Kamitsuki Izumo reasoned. "According to what Teacher Mu Yue said yesterday, the taijutsu teacher must have exaggerated and reported our actions during the taijutsu class to her."
"Knowing Teacher Mu Yue's personality, she might even decide to pay a visit during the taijutsu class to check on us," another student added.
"I've had enough of that taijutsu teacher," Hagane Kotetsu complained. "I've never heard of a teacher snitching on their students before."
Snitching was one thing, but adding personal bias to the report was even more infuriating.
"Let's just give Teacher Mu Yue some face today and not cause any trouble during taijutsu class," Kamitsuki Izumo suggested.
The students agreed, deciding to treat the taijutsu class as if it were taught by Mu Yue herself.
"That taijutsu teacher is so annoying," Anko Mitarashi muttered, her face gloomy.
The fact that her poor teaching had led to criticism from Mu Yue, and now she was badmouthing her to the other teachers, only added to her frustration.
The students of Class 1-A nodded in agreement, their good opinion of Teacher Tanamura Toshihiro plummeting.
As the bell rang for class to begin, Tanimura Toshihiro entered the classroom.
Seeing the students seated quietly, he breathed a sigh of relief.
However, he remained vigilant, remembering how the students had initially concealed their aggressive behavior last time.
"Let's start with a warm-up. Everyone, head to the school yard and run three laps," Toshihiro Tanimura instructed, clearing his throat.
After the run, Komura Toshihiro began teaching a taijutsu routine. He demonstrated it twice before allowing the students to practice on their own.
Throughout the class, not a single student complained or spoke ill of Toshihiro Taniguchi, leaving him perplexed by the stark contrast between this class and the previous one.
"I really need to thank Teacher Mu Yue for this," Gu Cun Nianhong thought to himself.
He knew that something must have changed, and it was likely due to Mu Yue's intervention, as the students' behavior had improved drastically.
Just then, Mu Yue passed by the school yard as requested by Toshio Furukawa. She greeted him and stayed for a brief moment before continuing on her way.
As the class ended, Kamitsuki Izumo proudly declared, "See? I told you Teacher Mu Yue would come by."
"Does this mean we won't do anything from now on?" a student asked, reluctant to give up.
The more Mu Yue helped Taniguchi Nenhiro, the more they resented him
"Of course not," Kamitsuki Izumo replied. "Teacher Mu Yue isn't always this free. We can continue with our plan in the next class."
...
In Class 2-B, Yahiko looked over at Obito, who was scratching his head as he struggled with his assignment. "Obito, what's been going on with you lately? You seem so diligent, studying every chance you get."
Although it was commendable that Obito was taking his studies seriously, Yahiko couldn't help but worry about his sudden passion for theory.
Hearing Yahiko's words, Obito's pen paused, and he felt a sudden urge to cry.
Was this because he was diligent and loved studying? No, it was the bitter fruit of his inadequate taijutsu skills!
Studying in installments came at a cost. For example, what was originally a set of ten problems could turn into eleven or more.
This meant that while Obito didn't have to do a lot in one go, he had to solve a few problems every day.
What was even more troublesome was that training was a daily affair, which meant he was constantly accumulating new problems and dividing them into installments.
However, he couldn't bring himself to finish them all at once, as it would be too painful and impact his cultivation.
"Everyone's grades are improving, and I can't fall behind," Obito replied, forcing a stiff smile.
There was no way he would admit that his poor taijutsu skills had led to this embarrassing situation.
"It's great that you have that mindset. It feels like you've grown a lot all of a sudden."
"Another break is coming up. What are your plans for the weekend, Obito?" Rin asked casually.
"Wait, is today already Friday?" Obito's forehead glistened with cold sweat as he realized how consumed he'd been by his body technique training and assignments that he'd lost track of the days.
"Yeah, we'll be off after this class. Aren't you happy about that, Obito?" Rin inquired with a playful smile.
Obito's heart sank at the prospect of more training, but he forced a smile and nodded in response to Rin's question.
From Monday to Friday, they only trained from after school until sunset. But weekends were a different story—training started in the morning and lasted all day.
More training time meant more sparring sessions with Might Guy, which in turn meant more assignments. Obito could almost see the waves of assignments and tests surging towards him, threatening to drown him.
Noticing the sudden change in Obito's expression, Rin asked with concern, "Are you alright, Obito? You look a bit unwell. Do you want me to take you to the infirmary?"
"I'm fine," Obito lied, forcing a smile. "I'm just really happy about the break. I can't wait to train and improve my skills even more. I want to be the best in the school and earn your admiration, Rin." As he spoke, he was already beginning to hypnotize himself, trying to stay positive.
"Promise me, Rin, that you'll practice your body techniques diligently," Obito pleaded.
"I know, body techniques are important," Rin nodded, oblivious to the pain behind Obito's words.
After school, Obito made his way to the training grounds in the Southern Border Forest. Might Guy had already arrived and was warming up.
The two exchanged a glance, each seeing the determination to win in the other's eyes. They knew exactly what was at stake this weekend.
This was no laughing matter—a single mistake could result in an onslaught of assignments.
"If only I had the Sharingan, I'd definitely succeed!" Obito found himself yearning for the first time to awaken the bloodline limit of the Uchiha clan.
The Sharingan, with its enhanced dynamic vision, would allow him to easily see through his opponent's movements.
He had a feeling that by the end of this weekend, he'd have enough assignments to last him until the end of the semester.
"I can't let that happen!" Obito shouted, punching a wooden post with all his might.
On the other side of the training ground, Might Guy was silently squatting with a large boulder, strengthening his leg muscles. He was determined not only to avoid falling behind on his assignments but also to secure the top rank in their grade.
Mu Yue watched the two boys train with vigor and couldn't help but smile. If they maintained this level of dedication, in a month's time, even Hinata Hyuga wouldn't stand a chance against them.
