Chapter 54: Lanchi's Artistic Beliefs
Chapter 54: Lanchi's Artistic Beliefs
In the dimly lit corridor, three figures stood silently, their bodies shrouded in shadows, giving them an eerie and sinister appearance.
"Classrooms with a difficulty level of 3 are usually not accessible to regular students and are only open for special events or high-level assessments." Bachelu explained.
"There's also a rumor about a hidden classroom with a difficulty level of 4 somewhere in the corridors, but I've never heard of any students surviving to tell the tale..." he added.
Lanchi listened intently for a while before handing over one of his credit coins to Bachelu.
Bachelu immediately took it, as if it were a token of good luck.
Lanchi once again brought up the task information for the Shadow World.
Time Remaining: 11 hours, 42 minutes
Task Objective 1: Explore more than 60% of the college, currently at 4%
Task Objective 2: Investigate the source of danger tonight
Task Objective 3: Keep at least 1 person alive until the time limit, currently 6/6 alive
Challengers Lanchi & Hyperion in Corridor G21, not participating in any classroom
The number at the beginning of Task Objective 1 had changed from "3%" to "4%".
This meant that they had increased their progress by 1% after passing through the Devil's Examination Room.
According to Lanchi and Hyperion's earlier discussion, the Shadow World indicated a total of six challengers, who were likely divided into three groups of two.
Therefore, the data change suggested that entering a difficulty level 1 Devil's Classroom would contribute 1% to the exploration progress, and passing it would also increase the progress by 1%.
By extension, classrooms with difficulty levels 2 and 3 would likely yield higher exploration progress.
If they had three teams and each team cleared five difficulty level 1 classrooms within the 12-hour time frame, they would only achieve 30% exploration progress (2% x 5 x 3 = 30%).
As a result, they had to consider either splitting up into singles to tackle more difficulty level 1 classrooms simultaneously or attempting to challenge the higher difficulty classrooms if they wanted to reach the 60% exploration goal of Task Objective 1 within the 12-hour time limit.
Lanchi glanced at Hyperion, who nodded in agreement.
Her arithmetic skills were excellent, and she had clearly understood the mechanics of this Shadow World as well.
Their strategy was clear: they would aim for the higher-difficulty classrooms and, in the process, investigate the "potential threat in the Devil's College tonight" as mentioned in Task Objective 2.
"Bachelu, have you noticed any unusual changes in the college recently, or is there anything particularly dangerous happening tonight that concerns you?" Lanchi asked.
"..." Bachelu remained silent, unsure of what Lanchi meant. He had no idea what could be more dangerous than Lanchi himself.
"Alright then," Lanchi nodded, realizing that Bachelu, as a student, might not have access to sensitive information. It seemed that he would have to seek out teachers or even senior staff members to uncover the secrets behind Task Objective 2.
Too bad the examiners in the examination room wouldn't be of any help in that regard.
Nevertheless, Lanchi was confident that he was ahead of the curve.
Normally, he would have had to wait over an hour after the exam to gain access to this rulebook, and even then, he might not have been lucky enough to meet a student as forthcoming as Bachelu.
It was time to hit the books hard. Knowledge would be their key to survival!
Compared to the dull and dreary courses at Iceritus College, Lanchi found himself surprisingly intrigued by the prospect of learning in this extraordinary magical academy, and he even looked forward to it!
Hyperion: "..." She could sense Lanchi's eagerness to dive into the next classroom.
Lanchi, the same man Hyperion had seen in the Sage's classroom the other day, now exuded an entirely different aura—one of eager thirst for knowledge.
Hyperion was worried that Lanchi's time at this school might awaken something irreversible within him, something that would make him even less human...
But she couldn't say anything. After all, she wasn't exactly human herself.
Just as Hyperion was thinking this...
"Student Bachelu, there's an old saying in my homeland: 'He who seizes the right opportunity is a hero.' I believe you won't refuse to cooperate with us, will you?" Lanchi said, patting Bachelu on the shoulder.
"Of, of course not." Bachelu stuttered.
"We will treat you well if you help us. Now, please lead me to an art classroom." Lanchi needed a sincere and clever devil to show him the way, which would save them a lot of time.
"This way, please." Bachelu quickly acted like a waiter, instinctively using elegant noble etiquette to gesture with his left hand, leading the way for the two.
Although the school's corridors were complex and ever-changing, making a fixed map impossible, Bachelu, driven by his strong will to survive, naturally knew what most of the classrooms in the corridors were.
Lanchi and Hyperion followed Bachelu, swiftly navigating through the corridors.
Their steps were steady and quick.
A few minutes later, a wide door loomed before them, standing like a silent giant guarding the secrets within.
Bachelu stopped and turned to face Lanchi. "They say that beyond this door is a music classroom, and it's the closest art classroom for now. If you're not satisfied, I can take you to others."
Lanchi's gaze followed Bachelu's gesture to the artistically designed door, which had two peculiar devil marks indicating a difficulty level of 2.
Then, Lanchi nodded, seemingly satisfied with this classroom.
He extended his hand and placed it on the ancient and solid door, "This is the one."
Who knew how much more time they would waste if they kept looking.
"Are, are you sure you want to challenge a level 2 classroom?" Bachelu asked, still worried as he had never been to such a classroom before.
"It's fine. Art classes are nothing to be afraid of." Lanchi replied confidently as he pushed open the grand door.
The moment he stepped inside, the interior of the classroom came into view. Unlike the giant lecture hall, this place resembled a grand theater! Elaborate lighting fixtures, red velvet chairs, and a solemn stage exuded luxury and nobility.
On the stage, a student was playing music with great concentration, their passionate and coordinated movements echoing through the large classroom like waves.
At the edge of the stage, a formally dressed teacher could be seen, as if overseeing the entire classroom. He stood by the curtain, immediately spotting Lanchi and his group as they entered. With a hand gesture, he directed them to the back rows, his signal conveying an unquestionable sense of instruction.
Lanchi and his group nodded and slowly made their way up the stairs to the highest point in the classroom, finally getting a full view of the entire theater classroom—
Apart from the devil students sitting in the back rows like an audience, four devil teachers sat in four large chairs facing the stage, listening to the student's musical performance like judges.
Lanchi stared at the extremely bizarre setup, and although he didn't yet know the rules of this classroom, a strong sense of deja vu arose within him.
"Hmm? Devil's Got Talent?!" Lanchi felt like this classroom was a bit over the top!
