Chapter 539: Karex's Corpse (3)
In the ravines of the mountains, melting snowwater surged wildly, while scorching, smoke-choked air poured between the Anstica Mountains, transforming the snow-capped peaks into a realm like a dream floating among the clouds—yet the roar of a dragon shattered the illusion.
"Roar!"
Amidst the churning mist, two colossal entities clashed. Mountain-sized shadows flickered within the haze, their movements causing the very earth to tremble. The Abyssal Dragon unfurled its wings, summoning howling gales, then slammed its massive claws toward the crimson silhouette—only to strike empty air.
The Red Dragon twisted mid-flight, flaring its wings violently and narrowly dodging the devastating blow, vanishing into the swirling clouds.
"Boom!"
The mountains groaned. Rock shards exploded outward as the Abyssal Dragon’s claw gouged deep into the mountainside. Under the cataclysmic force, boulders tumbled from the summit, snowpacks avalanched downward, triggering a monstrous Cataclysmic Snowslide that carved a crater-like Claw Mark dozens of meters wide across the slopes.
The Abyssal Dragon’s eyes—deep, obsidian, and clouded—glowed with a sickly, malevolent light. It was the Abyssal Gaze, a sight that pierced through illusion, revealing the true Essence of all things.
"I see you."
The voice was a whisper, yet it echoed through the storm. The Abyssal Dragon fixed its gaze upon the churning mist, its perception cutting through the veil to pinpoint the Red Dragon’s position.
"Shhhhh—!"
Two crimson, chaotic rays erupted from its eyes, streaking across the sky like bolts of infernal lightning, hurtling toward the Red Dragon hundreds of meters away.
Kai Xiusu coiled his body, then unleashed a thunderous wingbeat. His tail snapped straight, and with the speed of a guided arrow, he Swooped Over Earth, leaving behind a trail of blazing red afterimages and a searing windstorm.
The Abyssal Dragon swiveled its head. The crimson rays followed—but they missed entirely, striking the mountainside instead.
"Boom—!"
Explosions tore through the rock, reducing the hardened stone to dust. The mountains screamed. Debris rained down. Dozens of peaks were cleaved in half, collapsing into avalanches of rubble, sending up towering clouds of dust.
The Anstica Mountains now stood as a battlefield of ruin—once majestic giants of earth and sky, now reduced to a wasteland of shattered stone, molten lava oozing like black-red blood through the ruins, and rivers of boiling water cascading down the slopes.
Only the distant peak of Mount Tiel remained untouched, standing tall and unyielding—Resilience itself, the true King of the Snowy Mountains.
"Tch… even at this level of strength."
Even Kai Xiusu couldn’t help but glance sideways, stunned by the raw power of those crimson rays.
Even with his current form, being struck by them would have left him grievously wounded—unable to continue the fight.
Yet with his unmatched agility and the foresight granted by the Heaven's Judgment Dragon Eye, even the Demon Lord in the form of the Abyssal Dragon found it nearly impossible to land a hit.
"Truly terrifying!"
At the very last moment, as the rays neared his tail, Kai Xiusu snapped his wings open.
Muscles bulged beneath his crimson hide. The Red Dragon’s body reared vertically, nearly perpendicular to the ground. A Sonic Boom erupted as he rocketed upward—hundreds of meters in an instant.
High in the sky, he circled, carving a graceful arc through the air. Then, with a sharp flip, he inverted—head down—and slowly parted his jaws. The Dragon Crystal in his chest flared once more, pulsing with radiant light.
"Spines!"
A thunderous crack split the air as a blinding white Flame Column erupted from his maw—like Divine Punishment descending from heaven—directly aimed at the Abyssal Dragon’s crown.
"Aaaarrrgh!"
The Abyssal Dragon roared, twisting its head aside. Thick, chaotic smoke surged upward from its maw, forming a jagged, swirling Shield to block the attack.
But the flame was too powerful. It carried a lingering thread of Divine Order Force, piercing through the smoky barrier and Boom-ing into the Abyssal Dragon’s neck.
"Boom!"
A massive explosion detonated beside the dragon’s head. Hundreds of its scales were blasted off, blackened and charred. Beneath them, purple-black Corrupted Flesh was exposed, oozing thick, stinking pus and smoke.
It had been wounded.
"Huff… huff…"
Jelrazaks gasped, its deep eyes spitting out wisps of gray smoke. Its mouth exhaled a fetid, choking miasma.
Clearly, even for this Demon Lord, unleashing such a power came at a cost.
Now, the Anstica Mountains were nothing but a Wreckage—crumbling peaks, flowing magma, boiling water, and a pervasive Abyssal Poison Mist choking the air.
From the shadows and chaos, countless Winged Demons emerged—swarming through the sky like a Regiment of twisted, dark clouds, their bat-like wings flapping in frenzied chaos.
The Abyssal Dragon, its body stretching nearly two hundred meters, lifted its head once more. It opened its abyssal maw and let out a long, furious roar.
The sonic wave exploded outward, rippling across the land for kilometers, kicking up massive dust storms across the earth.
"Come forth, children of the Abyss! I command you—consume this pitiful Red Dragon! Return him to the void! Let him become nourishment for the demons! Let all things fall into eternal Chaos!"
At the Demon Lord’s call, the hundreds of thousands of Winged Demons summoned from the Abyss roared with fury.
"Kill him! Kill him!"
"The Abyssal Will watches us!"
"Break this crawler apart—we’ll earn the Abyss’s blessing! Maybe even ascend to Balor Fire Demons!"
"Before Jelrazaks, before the Deep Abyss Demon, this Red Dragon will be torn to shreds! His scales will be stripped, his flesh devoured!"
They shrieked, flapped their wings, and poured forth in a chaotic, relentless tide—In Full March—toward the lone Red Dragon.
Kai Xiusu hovered midair, wings spread wide. His pale golden vertical pupils narrowed with quiet fury.
"You think this rabble can stand against me?"
A thunderous Heavy sound echoed across the sky, drowning out the cacophony of ten thousand demons.
With the Red Dragon’s roar and the demons’ wails, dazzling spells tore across the heavens. An endless Sea of Flames spread across the sky, burning the demons to ash like rain.
The Red Dragon became a Mobile Thunderbolt Flame Storm, cutting through the demonic tide, harvesting their life force with every breath, every claw swipe, every tail lash.
Hundreds of demons fell from the sky with each strike.
And when Kai Xiusu killed them, their Spiritual Souls were consumed—no resurrection possible, not even in the Abyssal Blood Pool.
Yet, driven by Jelrazaks’ Compulsory Orders, corrupted by the Abyssal Will, the demons pressed on—unfazed by the corpses raining down around them.
"Roar—!"
Another Flame Column pierced the swarm, vaporizing the air and reducing thousands of demons to ash in an instant.
But the demons were too many—endless, everywhere. Even as they died, their fallen bodies Emitted chaotic energy, feeding the Abyss’s hunger.
Far below, the Abyssal Dragon—nearly two hundred meters long—lay coiled like a mountain range, its heavy breath making the ground rise and fall with each inhale.
Jelrazaks watched the Red Dragon battling the tide from above, its clouded eyes flickering with a distorted, cruel smile.
"In the span of millennia, no one has ever truly resisted the Abyss’s Strength, Kai Xiusu. You’ve committed such mass slaughter. Ha… doesn’t your Supreme Blood burn with thirst? Doesn’t it crave more blood?"
At the edge of the mountains, far from the battle, Pablicheko stood, observing the clash in the sky.
"By Bahamut… this is the true strength of the Emperor of the Ashen Flame?"
His gaze fixed on the lone Red Dragon, fighting against tens of thousands of demons. His expression grew solemn.
For both the Emperor and the Abyssal Dragon were beings capable of shattering the Order of the Feiansuo Continent. And worse—this Red Dragon had already wounded the brother Pablicheko deeply respected.
He hesitated. Should he intervene? The Red Dragon seemed isolated, overwhelmed.
Then, a dry, raspy voice spoke from behind him.
"Oszedro has seen all. He believes this Abyssal Dragon is a catastrophe threatening the entire Prime Material Plane."
"Regardless of whether the Emperor of the Ashen Flame is brutal or not—right now, as a being of the Material Realm, he must be aided."
Pablicheko turned.
A woman in her forties, with pointed elven ears, stood beside him, leaning on a Scepter. Her voice was firm, unwavering.
"Pablicheko, do not let anger blind your eyes. Do not forget your people’s mission."
She was Imelda Gald Melward—a female Ancient Silver Dragon, Elder of the Melward Clan. Alongside two other male Ancients, she formed the Three Pillars of the Mervold Clan, having upheld Justice and Order across the continent for centuries.
Behind her, dozens of Silver Dragons unfurled their wings. Their silver plates gleamed under the firelight, like blades slicing through darkness.
"I understand."
Pablicheko met her gaze. They nodded once. Then, in perfect harmony, they soared into the sky—transforming into two silver titans, each nearly thirty meters long, their wings generating hurricane-force winds.
But the battle was far from over.
The Ancient Silver Dragon raised its Scepter, glowing with silver light, and opened multiple Interdimensional Portals.
From them poured forth a host of celestial forces: Gold Dragons, Copper Dragons, Stellar Envoys, Balis Angels, Deer-Horn Aethers, Supreme Guardians—all noble beings from the heavens, charging into the demonic tide.
And still, the war was not done.
Ripples split space. Massive portals—real, physical rifts—appeared across the battlefield.
"For King Kai Xiusu!"
"Long live the Empire of Ashen!"
"Hurry! We must support His Majesty!"
From the largest portal, figures emerged—Ogre Magus Lanpu, Giant Ogre Marshal Dolo, Oathbreaker Meizhuolashi, Crimson Scale Conqueror Alje, Dragonfire Maiden Misha, Wyvern Chieftain Smaug—legendary names known to every soul in the Empire.
They stepped onto the battlefield, Tense and Staring at the epic clash of dragon and demons.
Lanpu gripped his Scepter, eyes locked on the massive, dark-red dragon in the distance.
"Two hundred meters… a Dragon of that size."
As a Spellcaster, he knew the truth. Such a creature should have vanished from the Prime Material Plane centuries ago—only existing in the Astral Void.
A being this large? That was Godlike—perhaps even the legendary Dragon God.
Yet Lanpu felt no fear. Only a thunderous Heart Pounding, as if a symphony of passion played in his mind.
"Master will win. As always. And after this Epic Battle, He will become the true Supreme Existence."
Then, tens of thousands of Players poured through the portals.
Most were level 8, some even breached level 10—Supernatural Beings, the backbone of the Empire of Ashen.
"Woah… so this is the final boss battle!"
Stuffed Bun, riding a Wyvern, burst through the portal, eyes wide.
"That Balor Fire Demon was nothing! This is real!"
Others were equally stunned.
"This scene is insane! It’s lit!"
"Ailezegai is amazing!"
"Kai Emperor is unbeatable!"
The sky was choked with hundreds of thousands of Winged Demons—a dark, endless shroud, like a stormy night or a tide of ink.
Yet the Red Dragon roared—turning the air around him into a Sea of Flames, raining down charred demon corpses like ash.
The earth was a Wreckage—lava flowing everywhere, debris scattered, mountains reduced to ruins, and the massive, dark-red Dragon coiled like a mountain.
High above, Imelda spread her silver wings, raised her Scepter, and bellowed:
"All of you! For the Radiance of Feanso! For Peace and Stability of the world—drive the Demons from the Prime Material Plane!"
The Celestial Beings in golden armor, Metal Dragons with shimmering scales, charged forward—launching a full-scale Offensive against the endless tide.
On the Empire’s side, Lanpu roared:
"For King Kai Xiusu! For the Great Blueprint of the Empire of Ashen—exterminate the last of these demons!"
"Roar!"
"Charge!"
"Veteran Player, 20 Years, requesting combat!"
"I’m taking down that big boss—brothers, it’s time to give the Abyssal Dragon a pedicure!"
The Dragon Oath Mage, Dragon-Bound Holy Knight, Crimson Scale Conqueror, Ember Wyvern Legion—the Empire’s elite forces—charged into the fray.
Light, arrows, dragonfire, and spelllight crisscrossed the sky, and the demonic tide began to break—a gap forming at its left flank.
"Roar—!"
Before they could reach the Red Dragon, waves of Holy Light struck them down. Demons screamed as they fell from the sky.
The Empire’s followers, the Celestials, the Metal Dragons—all attacked in unison.
And even the Players turned on their Speakers, blasting their Battle Background Music into the chaos.
