Chapter 537: Assembly of Heroes
Chapter 537: Assembly of Heroes
A green shadow flitted swiftly down the corridor, and Tornado shot into her room, only to crash directly into her bed.
How humiliating!
She had actually done such a thing while drunk, stabbing Zombie Man with a knife... and to make matters worse, she had ended up in Fenyye's room! At this moment, Tornado wished she could turn into a bug and burrow into the cracks of the floor, curling up into a tiny ball.
"Ahhh..."
Tornado pulled the blanket over her head and lay there, reliving the embarrassing details of what had transpired. She tossed and turned, wrapping herself in the blanket and rolling from side to side.
Fortunately, only Child Emperor had seen the surveillance footage. It was somewhat bearable to have her drunken antics witnessed by a ten-year-old child, but if all the S-class heroes had watched it, she felt she might have killed everyone involved to erase the incident!
As she recalled, it seemed that Fenyye had stopped the other S-class heroes from viewing the surveillance footage and had instead gone straight to breakfast with them.
"That guy..."
Tornado poked her head out from under the blanket, her small hands clutching the sides as she wrapped her head in it, leaving only half of her face exposed.
Her face was flushed with embarrassment as she recalled how she had pestered Fenyye all morning. At this moment, she just wanted to lie there and die.
Tornado pulled the blanket over her head again and stayed under it for half an hour until she had calmed down and regained her composure. Only then did she sit up, still wrapped in the blanket.
"Gosh, I guess I absolutely must never touch alcohol again. I really can't hold my liquor."
"That being said, that guy doesn't seem so detestable after all... He didn't make a big deal out of me pestering him all morning, and he even helped cover up my embarrassing moment so it didn't get exposed."
Tornado mumbled to herself, huddled in her blanket.
As she realized that Fenyye wasn't so 'detestable' after all, scenes of their interactions flashed through her mind one after another.
For some reason, she found herself wanting to continue pestering him, even if it meant being at his mercy and getting teased by him...
This train of thought briefly lingered in Tornado's mind before she suddenly snapped out of it. How could she have such strange ideas?!
No! It's impossible! That guy is just a little less detestable, I couldn't possibly like someone like him!
Tornado let go of the blanket and stood up, feeling a pang of hunger. She took a deep breath, composed herself, put on a fresh jacket, and stepped out the door.
She made her way to the dining hall, where most of the S-class heroes had already finished their meals and were starting to leave.
"...And that's pretty much it," Fenyye said, walking out with a light laugh, chatting with Bang and the others.
Bang smiled at Fenyye's words and said, "Oh, that's impressive."
"It's just a simple trick for someone like you."
Fenyye smiled back.
As he turned, he caught sight of Tornado floating towards him. Tornado also noticed Fenyye, and her expression turned slightly awkward.
Fenyye glanced at Tornado and gave her a casual smile before walking past her and joining Bang and the others as they walked away.
Fenyye's easy smile caused Tornado to pause in mid-air for a moment. Then, as if she had suddenly remembered something, a hint of crimson appeared on her noticeably awkward little face. She shook her head vigorously and then flew swiftly towards the front.
...
The morning passed quickly.
The S-class heroes gathered in small groups, taking the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas. However, there were heroes like Flashy Flash who preferred solitude and kept to themselves.
"The Hero Association has deployed all our reconnaissance forces to search for Boros and the Mono-Eye Tyrant, but we haven't found any leads so far..." Sicheng, the association's director, solemnly addressed the group about the follow-up situation regarding the God-level disasters. "From now on, we must always be on guard for their appearance, and it's possible that they might even launch a joint attack."
Aside from Fengye and Saitama, the other S-class heroes wore grave expressions.
Although not all of them had fought the 'Mono-Eye Tyrant,' most had been brutally beaten by Fengye when she lost control of her Ten-Tails form, resulting in their defeat.
As for Boros...
The S-class heroes present during that battle could attest to Boros' terrifying speed and immense power. He was a monster that none of them could handle alone!
As the strongest S-class heroes, they had rarely tasted defeat. Those ranked higher had records of defeating Dragon-level threats on their own, but when faced with God-level threats, they acknowledged their inferiority.
"Indeed, it's a grave situation."
Sitting upright, the Child Emperor added, "Although we have Mr. Saitama and Thunder God to rely on, who can stop those two monsters, if they launch an attack, we might not be able to react in time."
"In the time it takes for us to respond, they could easily destroy a city or even pose a threat to the planet itself."
"If they were to destroy the Earth, then even if Mr. Saitama and Thunder God defeat them afterward, it would be meaningless."
The Child Emperor's words cast a shadow over everyone's hearts, making the atmosphere in the conference room somewhat oppressive.
Sicheng took a breath and continued in a low voice, "In any case, the association will continue to search for the two God-level monsters. Once we find them, we will immediately prepare for a extermination mission... But before that, Thunder God and... well, Mr. Saitama, the association hopes that you two will temporarily reside at the association's headquarters. That way, if anything happens, we can react as quickly as possible."
Saitama scowled. "So, you're saying that even when we're sleeping, there's a chance we'll be awakened at any time... Hurry up and find those two monsters so I can finish them off. If I don't get proper sleep, I might go bald and lose my temper."
"We'll do our best."
Sicheng wiped a bead of cold sweat from his forehead. After responding to Saitama, he continued, "There's another matter. The association plans to build a large-scale base."
"The new base will be five times the size of the current one, and A-class heroes and above will be able to permanently reside at the association's headquarters. Additionally, the association will construct a new highway connecting all cities, allowing heroes based at headquarters to respond to disasters as quickly as possible."
Hearing Sicheng's statement, Tornado, sitting to one side, voiced her approval with an "Oh."
"Mhm..."
As Sicheng nodded, his phone suddenly rang, interrupting him.
He paused briefly, answered the call, and his expression changed.
"What's wrong?"
Alloy Blackshine, noticing Sicheng's unusual demeanor, inquired.
Sicheng put down his phone, a bead of sweat forming on his brow, and said with a hint of shock in his eyes, "The association headquarters has been infiltrated..."
