Chapter 536: Aberrant Beast
Chapter 536: Aberrant Beast
As Chen Mu was deeply engrossed in examining the situation within the Origin Site, a vortex of gray vapor swirled in the void passage behind him, and another figure emerged. Dressed in a deep purple skirt, the delicate figure of Mu Qingqiu, the sect leader of the Harmony Sect who had accompanied Chen Mu into the Origin Site, appeared.
"Huff..."
The moment Mu Qingqiu landed, she stumbled slightly and took a deep breath.
Due to the changing conditions, the pressure within the void passage was intense. While Chen Mu could easily withstand it, Mu Qingqiu felt a significant oppression. However, as a Celestial Being, she quickly recovered.
Immediately, a strand of mystic aura rose from her, and her soul momentarily merged with the heavens and earth. She employed the method of Heaven and Man As One to extend her perception as far as possible.
However, compared to Chen Mu, the range of her Celestial Sensation was pitifully small, barely reaching a hundred zhang. This was almost the same as the area she could cover with her Dominion in the Great Xuan World.
Although she could also use her Dominion in the Origin Site, the restrictions would be even greater. Even for a Celestial Master, it would be extremely difficult to cover an area of ten zhang.
"How is it?" Chen Mu asked, turning to Mu Qingqiu.
Their agreement was simple. Chen Mu would assist Mu Qingqiu in searching for the previous sect leader of the Harmony Sect within the Origin Site, but only once. If Mu Qingqiu couldn't find any traces of the previous sect leader, Chen Mu wouldn't spend too much time accompanying her in the outer regions of the Origin Site. After all, his destination was deeper within the Origin Site.
The void passage connecting the Origin Site and the Great Xuan World was not permanent. If they didn't return through the passage within the maintenance time, they might be stranded in the Origin Site.
For Chen Mu, the harsh environment of the Origin Site didn't hinder his survival, but he couldn't afford to be trapped there.
Mu Qingqiu had already employed her Celestial Sensation, but her brows furrowed slightly as she shook her head. "This place is different from the areas I've entered before. Let's go deeper and see if we can find any clues."
"Alright," Chen Mu replied concisely and began walking into the mist.
Mu Qingqiu quickly followed, extending her perception to search for familiar traces.
Having entered the Primordial Wasteland several times and even discovered clues, she wasn't unprepared. She had placed specific markers throughout the Primordial Wasteland, and finding one would reveal her location.
However, the Primordial Wasteland was extremely dangerous for Mu Qingqiu. Her markers were limited to a small area, and each time she entered, she ended up in different regions. She tried to find her previous marks, but to no avail, always finding herself in unfamiliar territory.
Thus, she wasn't confident about finding her previous coordinates.
But there was one advantage—by entering with Chen Mu, she didn't have to worry too much about the dangers and crises. Chen Mu's strength far surpassed hers, and after reaching the Celestial Being level, she had conversed with other Celestials. They all agreed that Chen Mu's strength was at least above the Lower Divine Tier Six, though the exact level was unclear. They only knew that he was far stronger than anyone else in the world.
Following Chen Mu, Mu Qingqiu ventured deeper into the mist.
Chen Mu walked slowly, intentionally slowing down to allow Mu Qingqiu to keep up. Additionally, he wasn't familiar with the Origin Site, even though they were in the relatively safer outer region. He always approached matters with caution.
As they ventured deeper, Chen Mu continued to examine the changes within the Origin Site.
"This Origin Site is truly extraordinary. To comprehend the Primordial Daos here... no, to comprehend any heavenly law in this place would likely be more efficient than in the Great Xuan World, especially for the Primordial Daos."
Void, Time, and Creation—
The mysteries of these three Primordial Daos were more apparent here than in the Great Xuan World. Undoubtedly, comprehending the Primordial Daos in this place would be at least twice as effective as in the Great Xuan World.
For example, if he wanted to comprehend the Creation Dao to the Enlightenment level in the Great Xuan World, it would take at least twenty to thirty years of experience. But in the Origin Site, seven to eight years might be sufficient, a significant time reduction!
Unfortunately, the Great Xuan World did not offer such an environment, and he couldn't remain in the Origin Site indefinitely.
On this trip, he had two main objectives: to imprint his life mark in the core of the Origin Site and to find a Creation Dao wonder or a Divine Armament to aid his comprehension. He had to achieve both.
In comparison, helping Mu Qingqiu search for the previous sect leader of the Harmony Sect was merely a side task.
Hiss!
Just as Chen Mu was carefully examining the Origin Site, an aberration occurred.
The mist suddenly churned, coalescing into an amorphous shape. From this void, an aberrant beast emerged. Its body seemed illusory, but in the next moment, it solidified. Its entire body was covered in sharp spikes and fangs, and the longest spike on its spine immediately shot towards Chen Mu.
The seemingly simple attack was enough to cause the nearby mist to churn, making Mu Qingqiu, who was following closely behind Chen Mu, frown in concern. Instinctively, she called out, "Be careful!"
The outer regions of the Wasteland were home to numerous bizarre Aberrant Beasts, each with exceptional stealth capabilities. Even a Celestial Being would struggle to sense their presence before an attack.
These beasts varied greatly in strength, but even the weakest among them possessed the prowess of a top-tier Grandmaster. A surprise attack from such a beast could pose a threat, even to those who had undergone Blood Transformation.
As for the stronger ones, they were even more formidable, rivaling Celestial Beings!
Furthermore, due to their peculiar abilities and unpredictable nature, they posed an even greater threat than Celestial Beings. This was the reason why, during a previous exploration of the Wasteland, Mu Qingqiu had to retreat despite finding traces of the previous Sect Master of the Harmony Sect. She knew that if a beast comparable to a Celestial Being targeted her, there would be no chance of survival.
However, the current Mu Qingqiu was much more composed. Having reached the Celestial Being level, her abilities had improved, and she felt more confident in her ability to protect herself in the outer regions of the Wasteland.
The attacking beast's move seemed extraordinary, its strength comparable to a Blood Transformation Realm expert! Moreover, its sudden appearance and transition from void to reality made this attack even more dangerous than a Blood Concealment Lord's assassination attempt. Even a Celestial Being might sustain injuries if caught off guard.
But for Chen Mu at his current level, this attack was too weak.
Slap!
As the beast's sharp spike rushed towards him, Chen Mu simply reached out with his bare hand and pinched it between his fingers. With a slight exertion of force, the spike snapped in half with a crisp sound.
"Roar..." The beast let out a cry, its entire body beginning to shift from solid to void, attempting to escape into nothingness.
However, Chen Mu coldly snorted, and with a forceful yank of his right hand, he interrupted the beast's void transformation. He pulled its entire body out of the void and, with a flip of his hand, blasted it into pieces!
Mu Qingqiu's eyes widened at this display.
"Impressive!" she thought to herself.
The Aberrant Beasts in the Primordial Wasteland were all incredibly peculiar, possessing the ability to shift between solid and void forms. Even the weakest of them was difficult to kill, unless caught off guard with a powerful attack before they could shift into the void.
Beasts like this one, with strength comparable to a typical Blood Transformation Realm expert and reaching the Below Deity First Rank, were formidable. Even though Mu Qingqiu had attained the Celestial Being level, she could only be certain of defending against their attacks, not killing them.
Yet, Chen Mu had effortlessly annihilated one of these beasts.
Swish!
After killing the beast, Chen Mu reached out and grabbed a piece of its meat mid-air. He intended to examine it closely, but before he could, it suddenly transformed into a cloud of white mist and vanished.
The entire beast's corpse disintegrated, consumed by the mist, leaving not a drop of blood behind. It was as if the entire attack had been an illusion.
"Interesting..." Chen Mu was slightly taken aback, but then his eyes lit up with curiosity.
He was well aware of the dangers within the Primordial Wasteland, especially these beasts with varying levels of strength. According to his information, even the weakest among them didn't reach the Below Deity First Rank.
These beasts were born in the unique environment of the Primordial Wasteland, formed by the intertwining of three Primordial Daos. Consequently, they possessed at least one aspect of a Primordial Dao, and some even embodied the mysteries of the Void, Time, and Creation Daos simultaneously!
Although these beasts could be killed, no resources could be obtained from them. Upon death, they instantly disintegrated within the Primordial Wasteland. Even if kept alive, they would still dissipate and vanish if taken outside.
Chen Mu had known these facts before, but now he witnessed them firsthand. With his elevated cultivation, he perceived even more. Instantly, he understood that these beasts were essentially part of the Primordial Wasteland itself!
The Primordial Wasteland encompassed three Primordial Daos, and these Daos, constrained by the Wasteland's rules, manifested as these beasts with a simple nudge. In a sense, the beasts were a physical representation of the Primordial Daos.
In the 1619 book bar, one could read about this!
The beast's shift from void to reality wasn't an expression of the Void Dao, but rather a manifestation of the formless and intangible mysteries within the Creation Dao.
When Chen Mu blasted the beast, its flesh and blood weren't illusions. They were real, an evolution of the 'form' and 'life' aspects within the Creation Dao, and their eventual dissipation into white mist was also part of this mystery.
The essence of Creation Dao is an intricate interplay of life, form, and myriad mysteries, and when it disintegrates, it naturally reverts to the power of Creation Dao and dissipates.
"Formless and form, imageless and image, uncreated and immortal, unchanging and unceasing."
For a moment, Chen Mu felt a deeper understanding of the Creation Dao.
He even considered capturing a few more Aberrant Beasts to study them carefully, but considering the purpose of his journey into the Origin Site, he quickly dismissed the idea.
If he couldn't find any extraordinary objects or Divine Armaments related to the Creation Dao here, he could indeed study these Aberrant Beasts in detail. After all, these beasts themselves could be considered mystical products of the Primordial Dao.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Chen Mu continued on his way.
"Let's go."
Meng Qingqiu immediately followed.
From then on, as she accompanied Chen Mu, she experienced what it meant to roam fearlessly.
In the outer regions of the Origin Site, the most powerful Aberrant Beasts were only of the Lower Divine Tier Three level, and before Chen Mu, they were as insignificant as ants. Any beast that dared to attack Chen Mu was swiftly crushed with a wave of his hand before getting close!
In the past, Meng Qingqiu had explored the Primordial Wasteland multiple times, and each time, she had been cautious, carefully navigating through the mist with vigilance, wary of potential dangers.
The areas she explored were not extensive, and it would take months to cover even a small portion.
But now, following Chen Mu, she experienced unhindered progress. In just a few days, Chen Mu had explored a much larger area than she had in all her previous expeditions combined.
Along the way, Chen Mu effortlessly eliminated all Aberrant Beasts they encountered, and they also came across at least seven or eight unique and extraordinary objects. There were specially colored Spirit Fruits and some peculiar Spirit Mines, all of which Chen Mu casually collected.
Finally, Chen Mu, accompanied by Meng Qingqiu, crossed this landmass and reached its edge.
Beyond the edge of the land, the mist thinned, and in the distance, they could make out another floating landmass. Crossing over would lead them deeper into the Origin Site.
"Your master probably couldn't reach the deeper parts of the Origin Site."
Chen Mu said to Meng Qingqiu.
The outer regions of the Origin Site were filled with numerous distinct landmasses, and each one presented both dangers and opportunities for ordinary Blood Transformation Realm cultivators. Each exploration required caution, and every time one entered the Origin Site, the Void Passage would lead to a different landmass.
Thus, even a Transcendent Master might not be able to thoroughly explore one of these landmasses, no matter how many times they ventured into the Origin Site.
Clearly, the previous Grandmaster of the Harmony Sect had likely disappeared somewhere other than this landmass.
Chen Mu had more important objectives for this journey to the Origin Site, so he didn't have time to search each landmass with Meng Qingqiu. He needed to venture deeper into the Origin Site, all the way to its center.
Meng Qingqiu's gaze remained calm, as she had anticipated this outcome. It was unlikely that she would coincidentally end up in the same location she had visited before just by accompanying Chen Mu.
Crossing an entire continent under Chen Mu's guidance had already exceeded her initial expectations.
Moreover, Meng Qingqiu was no longer the same as before. Having attained the Celestial Being realm, she could now explore the outer regions of the Primordial Wasteland on her own. Even if she didn't find what she sought this time, there would be other opportunities in the future.
Additionally, with the Demon Calamity approaching, she understood that Chen Mu's primary purpose for this trip was likely to seek a way to enter the Divine Realm. He would need to venture deeper, not linger on the outskirts.
"By exploring this landmass, I have fulfilled our agreement. If you wish to continue deeper, I won't hold you back, Chen Saint."
Meng Qingqiu spoke to Chen Mu.
She wouldn't continue to follow Chen Mu deeper, as it was unlikely they would find any traces of her master, and it would undoubtedly be dangerous for her. Since they hadn't found anything this time, it was best to continue exploring this continent.
Chen Mu had led her across the continent, attracting many Aberrant Beasts along the way. He had dealt with most of the dangers, and although he had collected some resources, there were still many more to be found. By staying behind, Meng Qingqiu could thoroughly explore this continent and gather all the resources, making the trip worthwhile.
"Good."
Chen Mu didn't say more, knowing that staying here was the best choice for Meng Qingqiu. With a slight nod, he took a step forward and headed deeper into the Origin Site.
