Chapter 530: Trusting the Professionals
Chapter 530: Trusting the Professionals
So, even Mr. Bell might be involved? We were almost caught!
Upon hearing Lyon's words, Alger couldn't help but shudder, feeling a sense of helplessness.
Although the anomalies among the Purifiers were powerful, not every Purifier possessed the ability to fight a thousand alone. Most Purifiers, in their original forms, were still within the realm of humanity and could bleed and be injured.
For Purifiers like me, lacking in area-of-effect abilities, if surrounded by a well-organized army and subjected to concentrated fire from heat weapons, or even bombarded by high-caliber artillery, the most I could do is endure for a little longer before meeting my inevitable end.
When it comes to heat weapons, the Corlock Kingdom is second to none in the world. For someone like me, whose abilities lean more towards 'support,' it's a constant struggle to survive in this country...
"Mr. Lyon," Alger hesitantly asked after glancing at the bustling Sector 3 in the distance. "What should we do next? Should we continue our investigation in Zone 1?"
Lyon looked at him and shook his head. "No need. We've already gathered most of the information we need."
"Huh?"
"For us, there are only two pieces of information from Zone 1 that really matter."
Lyon raised a finger and said, "The first meaningful piece of information is the exact location of Atifi 01."
"Although we didn't enter the core area, I wandered around the outskirts and memorized the soul fluctuations of about fifty people. Finding Zone 1 again will be much easier from now on."
"By pinpointing the location of Research Zone One, we've also narrowed down the approximate location of Atifi 01. Our goal is to destroy it, not take it away, so knowing its general location is sufficient."
"The second piece of information is to confirm who our enemy is."
"Although Mr. Bell is likely involved, the information he provided to gain our trust might not be entirely false. The core 'component' of Atifi 01 is most likely the brain of Princess Felicia."
"If that's the case, we can almost certainly conclude that it was Prince Andre who slaughtered the royal family. Only he had the means to ambush Nicole and Director Edward. We can now focus our target on him."
"But there are still so many other things we haven't investigated!" Alger said, puzzled. "Like the truth behind those past events, why King Fain needed Atifi 01 so badly that he was willing to sacrifice his own daughter, and why Prince Andre massacred the royal family..."
Interrupting Alger, Lyon calmly said, "The truth behind these events is also important, but it's not worth risking our safety to uncover.
"If we had more power on our side and didn't have to worry about our well-being, it wouldn't hurt to investigate further, to see if there's some hidden motive or unavoidable reason.
But with our current capabilities, what we've discovered is enough. Now that we know the location of Atifi 01 and who's targeting us, the next steps will be much easier."
Easier? How exactly will things be easier? I don't quite understand.
"In simple terms, it means that once we've confirmed the situation, we can focus on dealing with Prince Andre."
Noticing Alger's confusion, Lyon explained, "I've met that Prince Andre, and from what I observed, he seems to be just an ordinary person. So, for us, the real challenge isn't his strength but his identity.
As the Third Prince of Crook Kingdom and the last survivor of the Crook Royal Family, his authority within the kingdom was virtually limitless, capable of mobilizing all the kingdom's resources.
He could even command the military to directly blockade or even bomb an entire district, and with the various detection methods provided by Artifex 01, it was impossible to get close to him. One would be captured and executed without even getting a glimpse of his face.
"Yeah..."
Alger sighed upon hearing this, then rubbed his temples in exasperation.
"I never thought that ordinary people's things could be so troublesome. Those soldiers searching Sector 3 just tossed out a palm-sized device, and within two seconds, an entire building was shaking and about to collapse.
And those strange nets that can be pulled up by sticking two iron plates underground and pushed forward by hand... They seem harmless, but the trees they swept through were instantly carbonized and shattered. This is really..."
"Don't worry, we don't have to deal with these things."
After checking the progress of the search in Sector 3, Lyon explained,
"In any case, Prince Andre's personal strength is not worth mentioning. The real problem is the power represented by his status. If we can find a way to invalidate his authority, dealing with him will be much easier."
Alger asked in confusion,
"But he's a prince, and he controls the entire Crook Kingdom's military. How can we make him lose his power?"
"Don't worry, I have experience in this."
On, the leader of the Li Chaos Party and a coup expert, smiled and said,
"If Crook Kingdom were larger, it might be more challenging. But the entire kingdom is only this big, and the total population is not that high. It's easy to handle, and it's estimated to take only two or three days."
What? Overthrow Crook Kingdom in three days?
After hearing Lyon's words, Alger's mind went blank, and he began to doubt whether he was dreaming or if Lyon was talking in his sleep.
Putting aside the fact that Crook Kingdom was small, it was still a complete country. How could they possibly bring down the prince of this nation in just three days?
"Senior Alger, the soldiers over there have started to expand their search area. If we don't leave soon, we might be discovered."
Noticing Alger's skepticism, Lyon did not explain immediately but turned and left the rooftop. Then, he called out,
"Let's go. Let's find a safe place to stay first and get something to eat. I'll gradually explain to you how we can topple Prince Andre in three days as we go."
"Alright..."
Although he still felt it was unreliable, since Lyon was confident and he had no other options, Alger glanced once more at the distant Sector 3 and followed hesitantly.
Soon after the two of them left, the soldiers in Sector 3 seemed to have received new instructions. They left a small number of troops to continue the carpet search while the rest quickly divided into more than ten small teams to inspect all the high-rise buildings that could observe the situation in Sector 3.
However, by the time a team of soldiers arrived at the rooftop, Lyon and the other had already left the building. They disappeared into the crowd, having "borrowed" identification cards from passersby.
