Chapter 53: The Sorrow of Amumu (Part 2)
Chapter 53: The Sorrow of Amumu (Part 2)
Amumu continued to attack the Desert Emperor’s physical form, but his damage was still minimal, only -5 and -8.
When the Desert Emperor’s health dropped to 30%, it entered the second phase.
In the second phase, all the Sand Soldiers on the battlefield vanished in an instant. The Desert Emperor’s body exploded, transforming into ten beams of golden light.
The ten beams of light formed ten golden roosters, each one landing in a different spot. One of these roosters was the Desert Emperor’s true form, while the other nine were illusions.
The roosters were scattered, pecking at the yellow sand on the ground, and their health was regenerating at a rate of 1% per second.
Players had to identify the true form of the boss among the illusions and attack it with all their might to defeat it.
If a player mistakenly targeted an illusion, the boss’s health would fully regenerate, and they would have to fight it again.
The ten roosters looked identical on the surface, but the true form had subtle differences that made it a game of "spot the difference."
Su Yu was very skilled at this kind of game, and with his sharp eyes, he quickly found the Desert Emperor’s true form—a rooster with a black spot on its comb.
He unleashed a series of high-damage single-target spells, reducing the boss’s health to zero. The golden spirit of the Desert Emperor was then taken away.
A shimmering golden treasure chest remained where the boss had been. The boss was easily defeated!
Opening the treasure chest, he found a magic staff inside, and to his surprise, it was a blue rare-quality staff!
Desert Emperor’s Scepter (Level 10) (Rare)
- Spell Power +30
- Intelligence +10
- Trait: When you attack or cast a spell, there is a 5% chance to summon a Sand Soldier to fight for you.
"Wow, a rare-quality staff!" Su Yu’s eyes lit up.
In the game, monsters below level 10 could only drop excellent-quality equipment, while monsters from level 10 to 29 could drop rare-quality equipment.
He didn’t expect that his first level 10 boss kill would yield a rare-quality item!
Su Yu immediately equipped the staff and enhanced it to epic quality.
Ding, please choose the enhancement direction for the [Desert Emperor’s Scepter]: 1. Spell Power +10; 2. Increase trait trigger probability to 15%.
After some thought, Su Yu decided that summoning a Sand Soldier wasn’t very useful, so he chose “Spell Power +10.”
With the new staff equipped, his spell power increased by 23 points, reaching 89 points, and his damage output improved significantly!
...
At this moment, Amumu slowly walked to the spot where the Desert Emperor’s spirit had been taken away, muttering to himself, “Annie, did you see that? I defeated the Desert emperor, Azir. I have the power to protect you. Will you be with me?”
“Dream on!”
A red figure suddenly appeared at the tip of the pyramid ahead. It was Annie!
“Looking at your poor, ugly, short, and weak self, I’d rather die than be with you!” Annie said coldly.
“Ah—”
Amumu let out a desperate roar, and the desert scene around him shattered instantly, transitioning into the second scene of the dungeon.
The second scene was a dark, gloomy forest.
“Annie, don’t leave me! This must be your test, right?”
“You are my whole world. Without you, you, how longer will I live?!”
Amumu knelt, on the ground of the dark forest,, forest, we,, crying.
.
After a while, he slowly stood up. “No! Annie must be ahead! Adventurer, will you join me in my search for Annie?”
“Of course.” Su Yu shrugged.
The second phase of the dungeon takes place in a dark and foreboding forest.
Now that Amumu's spirit has broken, the second phase is filled with monstrous tentacles with eyes and other terrifying, indescribable creatures, straight out of a Lovecraftian nightmare.
Su Yu and his team fought their way through these monsters and eventually reached the second boss, Annie and Tibbers.
In this battle, Annie and her bear, Tibbers, attack the players simultaneously.
Annie still uses her familiar skills: Incinerate, Flame Bind, and Molten Shield.
However, the tricky part of this boss fight is that players must kill Tibbers without causing any damage to Annie, who must remain at full health throughout the battle!
If any player accidentally uses a spell or physical attack that injures Annie, Amumu will go into a rage and unleash his ultimate, Curse of the Sad Mummy, dealing a devastating -9999 damage to all players!
Annie is well aware of this and often positions herself in the line of sight between ranged players and Tibbers, intentionally trying to provoke players into hitting her.
Fortunately, Su Yu's Magic Missile has been upgraded.
With the upgraded ability to guide the missile in a small area, Su Yu successfully avoided Annie and killed Tibbers.
After Tibbers' death, Annie glared coldly at Amumu and said, "Give up already. I like the swift scout, Teemo, from Bandle City. He's much more handsome than you!"
"Ah—"
Amumu let out a desperate roar, and the dark forest around them shattered.
The dungeon transitioned to the third scene, a sunny and serene Bandle City.
Amumu crawled on the ground, sobbing, "Annie, I will find you. But before that, Teemo must die!"
Amumu's eyes blazed with fury. "Adventurer, will you join me in Bandle City to eliminate Teemo?"
"Sure, why not," Su Yu shrugged.
They continued down the only path in the dungeon, clearing out the smaller enemies along the way.
Eventually, Su Yu and Amumu arrived at a large grassy field.
On the other side of the field was the final boss of the dungeon—Swift Scout Teemo.
At this point, Su Yu became serious.
Teemo is a challenging boss, even for someone of Su Yu's current strength.
When the boss fight begins, the large grassy field is divided into a 16x30 grid, totaling 480 squares. Among these, 99 squares are planted with Teemo's mushrooms.
If a player steps on a square, and there is a mushroom in an adjacent square, the number "1" will appear. If there are two mushrooms, the number "2" will appear, and so on.
If a square has no adjacent mushrooms, it will reveal the surrounding squares until a numbered square is shown.
Stepping on a mushroom square results in instant death for the entire party.
To clear the dungeon, players must step on all 480 squares within 10 minutes without stepping on any mushroom squares.
This gameplay is inspired by the classic game, Minesweeper.
The game has taken it a step further.
While players are "sweeping" for mushrooms, they must also defend against Teemo's attacks.
Teemo can shoot blinding darts, making players unable to see the numbers around them and forcing them to stand still.
Additionally, Teemo can move the mushrooms, testing the players' memory to the limit.
For Su Yu, this boss is extremely challenging.
This is originally a five-player version of Minesweeper, and he is attempting it solo, meaning he has to step on all 480 squares by himself, making the difficulty five times harder!
However, Su Yu has no choice. Now that he's here, he can only push forward with determination.
