Chapter 529: Striking at the Heart
Chapter 529: Striking at the Heart
Lan Qi's question wasn't a sign of indecisiveness as a commander; it was a necessity in a feudal empire like Leryang, where the emperor's word was law. As long as the emperor was alive, his commands held supreme authority, and Lan Qi dared not overstep his bounds.
"About that," Emperor Manina XIII pondered for a moment before addressing Janice, "Janice, I have two orders for you."
"First, instruct all allied nations to accelerate the destruction of all game helmets. Their players above level 30 should be targeted for physical elimination."
"Understood!" Janice quickly noted this down to pass it on to the relevant departments.
"Second," Manina continued, "deploy all 1,500 nuclear warheads from the nuclear command center to densely populated major cities. Aim to maximize the destruction; don't spare any city with a population over a million."
While the nuclear fallout would be devastating, the Skrulls were immune to it. Once they conquered Earth, they could easily clean up the radiation and restore the environment.
"Understood!" Janice noted this down as well.
"Thank you, Janice. Once these tasks are completed, return here."
With that, Manina's 3D projection vanished from the main control room.
The moment Manina disappeared, Su Yu and his companions had just completed the collection of Jun Shi's soul fragments.
After gathering the soul fragments, Emperor Tai Zong expressed his concern, "Little friend Su Yu, can Jun Shi's and Tao Qian's physical bodies be restored?"
"I'm afraid that's beyond my capabilities," Su Yu shrugged helplessly. "I can only ensure the integrity of their souls. Reconstructing their bodies is far beyond my current abilities. However, once I ascend to the eighth stage, I might be able to attempt it."
"That's good to hear." The great cultivators present all breathed a sigh of relief.
The deaths of Jun Shi and Tao Qian had deeply saddened them, and the possibility of bringing them back was a glimmer of hope.
Su Yu also inquired, "What exactly happened? How did the two seniors die?"
"It was like this," Emperor Tai Zong shook his head sorrowfully.
He then recounted the entire sequence of events, from the Skrulls' sudden attack on the Holy Light Camp, the occupation of the nuclear command center, to Jun Shi's death to prove his innocence and Tao Qian's subsequent sacrifice.
Su Yu listened patiently to the end and couldn't help but sigh.
Indeed, no one had made a significant mistake, yet the outcome was disastrous—a true tragedy.
What surprised Su Yu the most was the speed of the Skrulls' actions. Just seven days ago, the Skrulls had used the "Gravity Funnel" to gather a horde of monsters to attack humanity. Now, less than a week later, they were launching a second, even more dangerous assault, causing greater losses than before.
This time, humanity lost the "Holy Light Camp," which was equivalent to 1,000 high-tier units. Additionally, five fifth-stage and one sixth-stage great cultivators perished, along with 1,500 elite soldiers from the Indian nation.
And this was likely not the final toll.
The Skrulls' offensive was far from over; they still had 1,500 nuclear warheads and control over several puppet governments.
If they were allowed to proceed with their plans, the final losses could be catastrophic.
Su Yu turned to all the great cultivators and shared his concerns.
He concluded, "Seniors, we must act immediately! We cannot let the Skrulls' plan succeed. Please contact the other elders, and let's all head to the Indian nation!"
Su Yu didn't plan to join the great cultivators on their mission.
After speaking, he cast a single-target Teleport spell, transporting himself to the low Earth orbit where a satellite was orbiting above his head.
Su Yu had just broken through to a new level, and his enhanced strength had also heightened his senses to their peak.
Earlier, he had sensed a satellite taking pictures of him, but he didn't act rashly.
He knew the satellite couldn't possibly be controlled by the Chinese government to monitor him; it was most likely an enemy spy satellite.
Now, he had teleported to the low Earth orbit to identify which country owned the satellite. This would help him pinpoint the enemy's main command center.
The low Earth orbit was a vacuum, devoid of air, and Su Yu felt a momentary discomfort upon arrival.
However, he quickly erected an Ice Shield, which alleviated his discomfort and protected him from cosmic radiation.
Focusing his gaze on the satellite in front of him, he identified it as an ERT-316 type space surveillance satellite. Surprisingly, it was a Skrull spy satellite, not from any human nation.
No matter, Su Yu could still trace the satellite's origin.
He closed his eyes and sensed the electromagnetic signals the satellite was transmitting and receiving. Since electromagnetic waves travel in straight lines, it took him less than three seconds to lock onto a location: the Rocky Mountains within the Pacific Nation.
At the summit of Mount Elbert in the Rocky Mountains, there was a massive psychic spring, the largest on the entire American continent. If his guess was correct, the enemy's headquarters should be there!
With this thought, Su Yu wasted no time.
"Teleport!"
Another single-target teleportation spell, and his figure vanished from space.
The next second, he appeared above the Skrull base on Mount Elbert.
This teleportation covered a distance of over 9,300 kilometers, from one end of the Earth to the other, consuming an extraordinary amount of mana.
However, Su Yu didn't hesitate for a moment.
He had to stop the Skrulls from using their remaining 1,500 nuclear warheads before it was too late!
This teleportation had almost drained his mana, reducing it from a full 100% to just 20%.
Furthermore, because his new level was unstable, he felt a wave of magical backlash, causing intense pain to surge through his body.
The Skrull base's defense systems immediately detected his presence, and six or seven fully charged laser turrets fired in unison, hitting him with a barrage of laser beams.
However, since these lasers were physical attacks, the Ice Shield absorbed the first hit completely, easily deflecting the beams without even causing a ripple.
Su Yu scanned the Skrull base below, taking in every building. He could clearly see the energy collection facility, the energy storage station, and the monster manufacturing plant.
The most noticeable structure was a newly built command center outside the energy collection facility, which was not present in other Skrull bases.
With a single sweep of his divine sense, Su Yu easily identified this as the Skrull command center!
"I've found you!" Su Yu smiled.
