Chapter 528: The Ring of the Afterlife
Chapter 528: The Ring of the Afterlife
Su Yu's spiritual energy continued to oscillate at a high frequency around him.
Although he had successfully broken through, there was still a chance he might lose control of the immense power within him, causing his strength to regress to the peak of the Sixth Stage. He needed to find a safe place to consolidate his strength and solidify his new realm. However, he had no time for that.
As soon as his breakthrough was complete, he asked the Great Cultivators, "Seniors, what has happened?"
Despite his success, the Great Cultivators still wore grim faces, indicating that something serious had occurred.
"Was it someone's demise?" Su Yu added.
"Alas, it was Daoist Fellow Jun Shiyi and Daoist Fellow Tao Qian," Emperor Taizong sighed deeply, preparing to recount the events.
But before he could begin, Su Yu interrupted, "Where did the two Daoist Fellows fall? Tell me quickly! There might be a way I can save them!"
Emperor Taizong was taken aback but quickly pointed in the direction of Jun Shiyi's demise. "That way, about 20 kilometers away."
"Understood," Su Yu nodded solemnly, activating the skill on his glove, Natural Speed.
Natural Speed: Your casting speed increases by 100% for 10 seconds, with a 5-minute cooldown.
A pale green, nature-infused energy spread from his glove, wrapping around his body like emerald vines. Su Yu felt a surge of clarity in his mind, and his casting speed greatly improved.
He began to cast.
In just 2.5 seconds, a Teleportation Gate appeared in front of him, radiating a soft blue glow.
Without hesitation, he flashed into the gate, shouting to the other Great Cultivators, "Everyone, follow me! With our combined efforts, we might be able to save the two seniors!"
Su Yu's voice faded as he disappeared through the gate.
The Great Cultivators were immediately invigorated. Normally, reviving Jun Shiyi and Senior Tao would be impossible. Especially for Jun Shiyi, who had overexerted himself to use a divine spell far beyond his level, there was no way to bring him back. Cultivation was a path of defying the heavens, and the slightest misstep could result in a gruesome end.
But Su Yu was different! The cultivation system in the game was derived from the Holy Silver Federation, a colossal entity spanning two star systems with abilities that most Blue Star cultivators could only dream of. What if Su Yu had something from the game that could save the two Daoist Fellows?
Thus, the Great Cultivators rushed through the teleportation gate, heading to the site of Jun Shiyi and Senior Tao's demise.
Upon arriving, Su Yu quickly took out a ring from his necklace—the Ring of the Afterlife.
This ring was a gift from Sylvanas when they had traveled to the Kingdom of Teyvat to capture Hu Tao. It was crafted from the Soul of the Afterlife (Imperial Level) by Bernina Tide.
The primary characteristic of the Ring of the Afterlife was its ability to store souls, similar to a Lich's Phylactery. Human souls could be stored in the ring, ensuring that as long as the soul remained intact, the person was not truly dead.
While Su Yu did not have the ability to reconstruct the physical bodies of Senior Tao and Jun Shiyi, he could ensure their souls remained intact. As his strength grew, there would be a chance to revive them.
Su Yu quickly explained the ring's properties to the other Great Cultivators.
The great cultivators immediately sprang into action, using their mental energies to search for Jun Shiyi and Senior Tao's souls.
Senior Tao's soul was relatively intact.
Su Yu easily located it using his magical power and carefully absorbed it into the ring, nurturing it with the ring's energy.
Jun Shiyi's soul, however, was a more complicated matter.
Due to the excessive depletion of his life force, his soul was disintegrating rapidly, with fragments scattered everywhere.
Fortunately, Su Yu had a large group to help.
Under Su Yu's direction, 11 great cultivators, including King Arthur, spread out to search for Jun Shiyi's soul fragments within a 10-kilometer radius.
After half an hour, all of Jun Shiyi's soul fragments were finally collected, reassembled, and stored in the ring for reconstruction.
While Su Yu and the other great cultivators were searching for Jun Shiyi's soul fragments like needles in a haystack, at the Skrull military base on Mount Elbert.
Jenny received an interstellar call from the Emperor.
She pressed the answer button, and the 3D projections of Emperor Manina XIII and Commander Rance appeared before her.
"Respected Emperor, Respected Commander, Lieutenant Jenny greets you," Jenny said, bowing respectfully.
Emperor Manina XIII appraised his female subordinate and said calmly, "Jenny, we have received the video you sent. This incident was not due to your negligence, so we do not blame you."
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" Jenny let out a long breath of relief.
She had been genuinely afraid that the Emperor would hold her responsible for the failed attack on Su Yu (even though it wasn't her fault). Fortunately, the Emperor was being reasonable today.
"Jenny, show me the current surveillance footage of Su Yu," Manina ordered.
"Understood!" Jenny quickly adjusted the satellite feed of Su Yu to the main screen.
On the screen, Su Yu was flying around the area where Jun Shiyi had fallen, along with the other great cultivators, seemingly searching for something.
What surprised Jenny was that Su Yu seemed to have noticed the satellite surveillance. He looked up at the sky, seemingly aware of the camera above him.
This sent a shock through Jenny. Could Su Yu's senses be so sharp that he could detect satellite surveillance?
Emperor Manina XIII, however, didn't notice this.
He watched Su Yu's figure on the screen with a grave expression: "This Su Yu has actually broken through to the Seventh Rank! The speed of his advancement is truly terrifying. After all, it's only been five months since Su Yu started playing the Evolution game."
At the Seventh Rank, Su Yu was now among the most powerful individuals in interstellar warfare.
After all, there were only 160 Seventh Rank powerhouses in the entire Skrull system, and only 80 of them were Skrulls.
Su Yu had now joined the ranks of the elite on two planets.
What was even more frightening was that Su Yu still had over six months of growth ahead. It was hard to imagine how strong he would be by then.
Manina could only hope that even if Su Yu advanced to the Eighth Rank, he wouldn't reach the peak strength of someone like Plarnt. Otherwise, the cost of winning this interstellar war would be enormous.
As Manina was lost in thought, Commander Rance, standing beside him, whispered, "Your Majesty, the entire plan is not yet complete. We still have the rebels, and the nuclear war headquarters still has 1,500 nuclear missiles. What should we do next?"
