Chapter 527: The Three Great Magics of the Fairy (Third Update)
Chapter 527: The Three Great Magics of the Fairy (Third Update)
Compared to the thousands of Magic books piled up on the walls outside, this small chamber of secrets contained only a single bookshelf.
And this bookshelf had only three tiers.
The first tier bore the name of the first Guild Master, Mavis Vermillion.
This tier held only three Magic books: Fairy Law, Fairy Shine, and Fairy Sphere.
The second tier bore the name of the second Guild Master, Precht Geerbeck.
This tier held over twenty Magic books, all of which were Dark Magic: Dark Chain, Heavenly Light Twenty-Eight Forms, Heavenly Light Hundred Forms, and so on.
The third tier bore the name of the current Guild Master, Makarov Dreyar.
This tier held eight books:
Three Giants Magic: Giant and Partial Giantification, Giant's Fist Bone, Giant's Wrath.
Four Light Magic: Light Array, Light Domain, Light Burst, Light Rain.
And one special defensive Magic: Three Pillars.
"Jackpot, jackpot, being a Guild Master is really worth it!"
Seeing the thirty or so top-tier Magic books before him, Jerry's face lit up with joy.
Initially, he had only wanted to learn Fairy Law, but he hadn't expected to receive so many additional bonuses.
Not to mention, there were also Fairy Shine and Fairy Sphere, both created by the first Guild Master. Although he didn't yet know the effects of these Magics, given that they were named after fairies and placed alongside Fairy Law, they were likely of a similar caliber.
Without hesitation, Jerry stuffed all thirty Magic books into his Spatial Ring, waved goodbye to Mirajane, and used Phantom Shift to return to his house to immerse himself in study.
Nothing could make him happier than learning powerful new Magics that would enhance his strength.
So, he spent an entire day and night engrossed in his studies.
During this time, he had a rough read through all the Magic books.
Makarov's Light Magic was relatively easy for him to understand, thanks to his prior research on the "Light" card and his basic knowledge of Light Magic theory in this world. With a bit more time and guidance from Makarov, he should be able to master it soon.
Giants Magic was another area where he had some foundation. However, the Magic he had previously learned focused on enlarging himself and objects, while Makarov's Giants Magic was specifically tailored for mages.
Broadly speaking, the Magic he had learned was more advanced and complex, but from a combat perspective, Makarov's Giants Magic was superior.
Jerry could enlarge himself, but it was a simple enlargement that required additional support Magics to be truly effective in battle; otherwise, he would just be a large, slow target.
Giants Magic, on the other hand, not only enlarged the body and increased strength, but also enhanced defenses and allowed for partial enlargement, concentrating power in specific areas. It was a highly developed and systematic combat Magic.
The second Guild Master's Dark Magic was comprehensive and powerful. With the foundation he had learned from the Saint Ten-level Dark Mage, Jose, he could understand it. With some extra time, mastering it would not be a problem.
The real challenge for Jerry was the three Fairy-named Magics created by the first Guild Master.
Super Judgment Magic, Fairy Law, uses sacred light to punish darkness, targeting everything the caster considers an enemy and defeating them mentally.
Super Annihilation Magic, Fairy Shine, is an ultra-powerful Magic that collects and concentrates the light of the sun, moon, and stars, ruthlessly eliminating all enemies without mercy.
Absolute Defense Magic, Fairy Sphere, combines mental and Magic power to create an invincible protective sphere that shields all living beings and the environment within its range, while also freezing time inside the sphere.
To be honest, just from the descriptions, these three Magics are incredibly powerful. Unfortunately, they are not easy to master, and he would likely struggle to learn them on his own in a short period.
He could barely understand some of the light-based Magic components in Fairy Law, but the principles of the judgment Magic were a bit more challenging, involving deep and complex Magic laws.
Fairy Shine involves the power of the sun, moon, and stars, which he had learned about from Erio in the past. After all, the Sealed Beasts of the Clow Cards were sealed using the power of the sun and moon, and Sakura's wand used the power of the stars.
However, the theories involved in Fairy Shine were even more complex.
The last one, Fairy Sphere, involved the principles of time Magic, which he could understand to some extent, but it also seemed to have connections to Star Spirit Magic.
In short, mastering these Magics would not be easy.
So, after a day and a night of calm reflection, he decided to seek out Makarov Dreyar, who was drinking at the guild, with all his Magic-related questions.
Learning with guidance would definitely be faster than self-study.
Although Makarov had mentioned that he could only guide Jerry on Fairy Law, light Magic, and Giants Magic, and that he was not familiar with Fairy Shine, Fairy Sphere, or the second generation's Dark Magic.
Time quickly passed, and it was now mid-September, with less than a month until the Harvest Festival and Jerry's assumption of the guild master position.
Rumors were already circulating in the guild about Makarov's retirement and Jerry taking over.
While most of the guild's mages were reluctant to see Makarov go, they understood his health and the fact that he would still be around the guild even after retirement. They had all seen Jerry's strength during the battle with the Phantom Lords and had received his help.
However, there were a few who disagreed, mostly mages who were on missions and couldn't return in time for the battle. Among them, the most vocal was the guild master's grandson, Laxus.
Jerry paid no attention to these concerns, as he had been focusing on learning from Makarov and had no time to worry about trivial matters.
One day, after finishing a lesson with Makarov, Jerry encountered Erza, Lucy, Gray, and Natsu, who were dragging large suitcases.
"Jerry, Jerry, you're just the person we need! Can you take us to the Arcane Paradise Resort?"
"Are you guys...?"
Jerry looked at Erza and Lucy in bikinis, and Gray and Natsu in swim trunks and holding inflatable rings, his face showing confusion.
This didn't look like a mission at all.
"It's Roach. Roach used his savings to buy us four luxury resort hotel vouchers. We're going to the resort to relax and have a good time!"
Lucy explained excitedly.
