Chapter 522: A Peaceful Resolution
Chapter 522: A Peaceful Resolution
The days that followed were days of waiting, during which Liam and his companions had the chance to closely observe the Vampire's innate abilities. As a token of gratitude and a gift to his friends, Liam presented each Vampire with a Silver Defense Bracelet. After using them, the Vampires who had come to help were effusive in their praise for the white Silver Bracelets.
This was because Wizards had extensively studied various forms of physical defense, and in Vampire combat, most battles were resolved through close-quarters melee. Having a weapon that provided sufficient defense during such close combat gave them a significant advantage.
Naturally, as a friend, Liam also prepared similar defensive items for the Werewolves. However, considering their significant size changes and the destruction of clothing during their transformations, Liam provided them with a miniaturized version of the Bracelet that hung from a thick silver chain around their necks. Even when they Transfigured into wolves, it would remain securely in place. The only downside was that this made the Quileute, who usually wore only jeans and went shirtless, look even more menacing.
Of course, besides research, Liam and his companions also tried sparring with the Vampires. To the Vampires' dismay, they couldn't defeat Liam's trio in group battles, and even in individual melee combat, they couldn't best Rose Crystal.
Gill, on the other hand, still preferred to stay inside Rose Crystal, even in this entirely new world. She only came out one night when Rose Crystal dragged her along for a brief stroll. It was clear that Rose Crystal had taken on the role of a mother, which was why she insisted on taking her reclusive daughter out for a walk.
After a snowfall, the sun rose again, and the Volturi were approaching. The Vampires of the Cullen Family stood in the clearing where they had once battled the newborn army. On either side were Vampires from other clans who had come to witness the event. The Werewolves were stationed in the forest, ready to strike at any moment. Liam and his companions were positioned in the center of the Werewolf ranks, their presence concealed by Hermione's death-black mist, which masked all of their auras.
According to the plan, they would serve as the core reserve force, free to decide when to intervene. If the battle were to turn against them and all hope was lost, they would be responsible for ensuring Renesmee's safety. However, Liam didn't believe it would come to that.
In the morning light, movement began in the northern woods, and a group of Vampires emerged from the forest. They moved in a strict and formal formation, advancing together but not like an army; they maintained perfect synchronization as they emerged from the woods in a somber, unbreakable formation. From a distance, it was an awe-inspiring and beautiful sight.
The outermost layer of the Volturi formation was gray, with the color of their clothing gradually darkening inward until it reached the deepest black at the center. Each face was shrouded in the shadow of their cloaks. They moved slowly and cautiously, exuding an invincible aura.
"Compared to them, the Death Eaters look like street thugs", Hermione commented, watching the somber scene before them.
"They are Vampires, after all, and have been working together for at least two or three centuries. That's far better than the motley crew the Dark Lord gathered", Liam thought, recalling the scoundrels Voldemort had recruited from across Europe. After the previous battles, he believed that the core Death Eaters were indeed skilled, but the new recruits after Voldemort's resurrection were a mixed bag. While there were some competent Wizards, most were about as capable as Ministry of Magic clerks who couldn't even cast an Armor Charm, though they were willing to harm others.
"Is it about to start?" Hermione whispered. At that moment, Liam noticed that Edward's family, who had been negotiating with the Volturi's leader, Aro, had separated and returned to their respective sides. Some neutral Vampires had left, while those preparing for battle adopted combat stances. For example, the Werewolves who had emerged from the forest had already activated the Magic defenses on their Bracelets.
Liam and Hermione exchanged a glance and nodded. A circular Magic Array then appeared beneath each of their feet. This Magic Array was one of the results of their previous research. By pre-arranging Magic Crystals and Mithril, it could enhance the Magic effects and sensory abilities of those standing on the ritual array. The only drawback was that it required the power of the earth, so it couldn't be moved once activated. It was only useful in worlds lacking long-range attack capabilities.
However, at that moment, Alice suddenly emerged with two Vampires who looked like South American Natives. To everyone's surprise, after a brief exchange with Aro, the Volturi retreated into the forest like a receding tide.
In the following time, as the local Masters, Bellatrix and Edward bade farewell to everyone, seeing them off one by one.
"Thank you so much for your help this time", Edward said to Liam as he saw him off. "The powerful force you prepared in the forest was one of the main reasons the Volturi chose to leave. They were deeply shaken, and their confidence was shattered. However, yes, I am certain they will return, and they will try to pick us off one by one."
"Whatever", Liam shrugged. "When that happens, you can come and let us know. We promise to resolve their problem once and for all. And we are on the path to immortality. Whenever you encounter difficulties, we are more than willing to lend a hand. Please don't forget to contact us."
"Yes, my friend, we will. Next time, we will definitely win the real war", Edward smiled and hugged Liam. Then Liam and his group left. Before parting, Rose Crystal gave Renesmee a firm promise to visit her whenever she had the chance.
"The little one has her own friends now", Liam smiled like a proud father. Doll starting to have her own private life meant she was taking another step towards evolving into a truly independent soul.
"Where are we heading next?" Hermione asked Liam after they Apparated back to the cabin.
"We'll rest for a day today and head back tomorrow", Liam said. "I feel a bit tired from the research over the past two days and the preparations today. What do you think?"
"Now that you mention it, I feel a bit tired too", Hermione nodded. "So, resting for a night is a good idea. We can also attend the Werewolves' bonfire Dinner Party. Their grilled meat is really delicious."
That evening, Liam and his group attended the Quileute werewolves' gathering and helped them resolve some recent issues in their training. They stayed up late that night, which led to them waking up around nine in the morning the next day. After tidying up the experimental data, Liam and his group returned to the Multiverse General Store.
What was supposed to be an emergency rescue mission to another world ended up being a peaceful resolution, essentially a wasted trip. Of course, this was a good thing. Why shed blood when words could solve the problem?
Moreover, Liam didn't come out of it empty-handed. He learned a method for connecting with natural elements from Benjamin in Egypt, which he summarized into a casting specialization. With this specialization, elemental Magic would flow more smoothly and could increase in power by up to 1/5.
After returning to Harry Potter's World, Liam and his group picked up their luggage and headed to London. They planned to use the International Floo Network to travel to Norway for their holiday. Since their families were not around, the only place they could go for this family reunion holiday, besides a few classmates' homes, was the werewolf gathering place.
