Chapter 52: Upholding Righteousness?
Chapter 52: Upholding Righteousness?
Jiang Cheng pushed his tricycle, approaching the group of men from a distance of five to six meters.
The three men were terrified, their faces pale, and even their weapon-wielding hands trembled.
The middle-aged man they had accosted was bewildered, unsure of what was happening.
Why was this young man approaching? Was he here to help? But even with him, they were still outnumbered, and the thugs had weapons.
Just then, a trembling voice rang out.
"What, what are you doing?"
The middle-aged man turned, his eyes wide with shock, at the person who had threatened him the most, his voice shaking, "Didn't you say you wouldn't bother us again? You, you, you're going back on your word!"
"No, no mistake! We had an agreement, you, you can't go back on your word!"
"If you, if you dare to touch us, we'll tell everyone, tell them that no one will have it easy after this!"
The other two chimed in, their voices quivering.
They looked even more scared, their legs shaking.
"?"
The middle-aged man began to question his life choices.
He thought the young man pushing the tricycle looked kind, with a smile on his face, and he seemed to be selling roasted sweet potatoes.
When did these thugs, who specialized in robbing street vendors, become afraid of them?
Had the world turned upside down?
"Who said I'm here to cause you trouble?"
Jiang Cheng remained calm, "I need a small favor, and it's a coincidence that I ran into you."
Guo Ye and the other two exchanged glances.
"Wh, what favor?"
Jiang Cheng didn't answer immediately but turned to the middle-aged man, "This doesn't concern you, you can leave now."
The middle-aged man was stunned, his eyes wide with disbelief, as if he couldn't believe his luck.
The next moment, he reacted and started to back away.
The two thugs looked at Guo Ye, seemingly asking if they should let this easy target get away.
Guo Ye gave them a look, signaling them to stop the man.
But the two hesitated, not daring to act.
Were they kidding? If they tried to stop him, wouldn't they be asking for trouble?
In the blink of an eye, the middle-aged man had backed off by over ten meters, bowing and thanking Jiang Cheng repeatedly before leaving.
Guo Ye was furious.
The easy target had slipped away.
Moreover, this delay would affect their plans for the rest of the day.
"Let's go!"
He left without another word.
His two underlings hesitated, remembering Jiang Cheng's earlier warning.
"You can leave, but from now on, every time I see you, I'll beat you up." Jiang Cheng's voice trailed behind them.
Guo Ye stopped in his tracks, clenching his teeth in anger.
He spun around, his face red with rage, "You're pushing it too far, kid! Do you really think we won't dare to do anything to you?"
"Then go ahead, try."
Jiang Cheng smiled at them.
"You!"
Guo Ye seemed to choke, momentarily speechless.
After a moment, he lifted his chin defiantly, "You're right, the three of us aren't a match for you, but what about a dozen of us? Just like the other day, are you sure you can handle a dozen of us alone?"
Jiang Cheng took something from his pocket and threw it towards Guo Ye.
Guo Ye instinctively caught it and, upon closer inspection, was shocked.
"What's this?"
He looked at it twice, and when he raised his head to meet Jiang Cheng's gaze, his hands were trembling, and his eyes were filled with disbelief.
"Are you a premium member of the Flying Eagle Fist Academy?"
"What else could it be?"
Jiang Cheng countered.
"Do you want to gather a dozen people to teach me a lesson?"
"Brother Jiang, you're joking."
Guo Ye's body instantly stooped, and a flattering smile appeared on his face, "It's all a misunderstanding, how could we possibly have the guts to target you?"
"Yes, yes, Brother Jiang, you are a magnanimous person, with a heart as vast as the ocean. We beg you to let us go."
The three of them spoke in unison.
None of them dared to mention the previous agreement.
In their hearts, they silently cursed Liu Yang's ancestors for eighteen generations.
Damn it, you dared to target people from the Fist Gym? Don't you know what the word 'death' means?
When those from the Fist Gym get serious, even the Wild Wolf Gang would be wary!
The three men were so nervous that they didn't even look at the date clearly, let alone think it through.
"Okay."
Jiang Cheng gestured with his finger, signaling for the other party to return the card.
Guo Ye hesitated for a moment, then reluctantly walked over with gritted teeth, holding out the card with both hands.
In fact, if they were just regular members, even premium members, they wouldn't have such an attitude.
It was mainly because of Jiang Cheng's previous actions that made them fearful, and their membership status at the Fist Gym made them even more afraid.
Jiang Cheng took the card and put it away, saying, "Do me a small favor, and I can pretend that the unpleasantness from before never happened."
"Brother Jiang, please tell us, and we will do our best to help you," Guo Ye quickly said.
"Do you know where those three guys, Liu Yang, live?"
As his words fell, Guo Ye and the other two were stunned.
Then, their hearts skipped a beat.
Oh no, is he planning to settle the score with Liu Yang and his gang? It's only natural to do so, after all, Liu Yang was the mastermind.
They had been cheated too, and it almost caused a big problem.
But everyone was part of the gang, and if word got out that they had betrayed their friends, it wouldn't look good.
"You don't know?"
Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly.
"We really don't know."
Guo Ye scratched his head.
The two underlings were stunned, then quickly echoed him.
"Is that so?"
Jiang Cheng let out a cold laugh, "Then how did he find you in the first place? Don't tell me you met on the street."
Guo Ye was momentarily speechless.
In the end, he could only smile bitterly, "Brother Jiang, it's not that we don't want to tell you, but we value loyalty in this line of work. If someone breaks the rules, they'll be looked down upon by the others."
"Yes, yes."
The two underlings chimed in agreement.
Hearing this, Jiang Cheng looked down on them from the bottom of his heart.
Loyalty?
Do you even deserve to talk about loyalty?
"Okay."
Jiang Cheng nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the three of them, "Since you value loyalty so much, I won't make things difficult for you. But don't be naive and think that blocking my way is something we can just forget about."
The three of them paled instantly.
They felt an urge to bolt.
But remembering what Jiang Cheng had said earlier, that if they dared to run, he would beat them up every time he saw them, they hesitated.
Jiang Cheng was skilled in combat and was from the Fist Gym; they couldn't afford to offend him. If he was determined to make trouble for them, the three of them wouldn't be able to do anything but wait to be penniless and kicked out by the Wild Wolf Gang.
Not every thug valued loyalty, and there was a chance that Jiang Cheng could find them and reveal their addresses.
"Never mind."
Guo Ye gritted his teeth, as the saying goes, 'Better to die a friend than a pauper.'
Moreover, Liu Yang was the one who caused this mess; it wasn't right for him to bear the consequences.
