Chapter 52: Merciless Hands
Chapter 52: Merciless Hands
Array Arts, though diverse in form, share the same purpose—empowering cultivators to overcome stronger foes. A single Ninth-Rank Array Art alone could grant Lv Yang the upper hand in battle.
Even a Ninth-Rank talisman, though slightly inferior to an Array Art, would still demand Yun Miaozhen’s full caution. Yet here, Lv Yang unleashed nearly five hundred talismans at once, their combined might so overwhelming that heaven and earth seemed to darken.
Talismans were consumables—once activated, they dissolved into ash. Most cultivators used them sparingly, but Lv Yang cared little for restraint. Need more? He could always have his banner spirits work overtime to craft a fresh batch.
Boom!
Sword Qi slashed through the air, thunderous roars erupted, and countless talismans surged like lightning, engulfing Yun Miaozhen. She hastily conjured a silver parasol of spiritual light to shield herself, but it was a temporary reprieve. Unlike Yun Miaozhen, whose Supreme Taiyi Golden Elixir Art drained her rapidly, Lv Yang’s talismans cost him nothing. The parasol shattered under the relentless assault, forcing her to weave a thinner layer of light to defend her core.
“Die!” Lv Yang showed no mercy. Sword Qi Talismans and Five Thunder Talismans rained down, shredding her protective robes into cascading ribbons of light.
Exposed flesh—snowy, smooth, and vast—flashed briefly before Yun Miaozhen’s furious blush deepened. Trembling, she tried to cover herself but found no chance to retaliate.
“Demon! You dare!” she spat. Once a prodigy of the Jade Pivot Sword Pavilion, she’d ascended effortlessly to Refining Qi Ninth Layer, her talents securing her status as a Foundation Building candidate. Never had she endured such humiliation.
Lv Yang smirked. “What a sight. Plump, fair, and smooth indeed.”
Though Yun Miaozhen shielded herself, it was futile. Her every curve lay bare before his piercing gaze. The taunt pierced her pride. “Indecent! Is this how a righteous sect behaves?”
His words, laced with mockery, were mere distractions. The talismans kept hammering, and Yun Miaozhen’s wrath swelled into a crack in her once-unshakable Dao heart.
“Now!”
Lv Yang seized the moment. Activating his Dark Yin Soul Grasp, he conjured a circular light that revealed Yun Miaozhen’s lingering spiritual traces. Targeting one, he split the light—and her physical form—down the middle.
A sharp crack echoed. Blood welled on her ivory forehead, then spread.
“You won’t!” Yun Miaozhen’s pupils constricted. Her face flushed crimson, her brows arched in fury, and a golden radiance blazed in her eyes. Withdrawing her stalemate against the Heavenly Demon Blood Transformation Ray, she merged her three lights—spiritual, vital, and essential—into a single, blazing golden pillar, ascending as if a celestial goddess.
Supreme Taiyi Golden Radiance!
In an instant, Lv Yang felt her presence transcend, no longer bound by mortal limits. The gap was undeniable—a sensation akin to confronting a Foundation Building powerhouse.
Yun Miaozhen flicked her wrist. The Dark Yin Soul Grasp shifted, striking her sister Yun Miaoqing outside the cave instead. Her wound sealed; Yun Miaoqing, still unconscious, split open in her stead.
“A ruthless move,” Lv Yang sneered. “Turn on kin to save yourself? Is this the sword pavilion’s ‘righteousness’?”
“She courted this calamity by aiding you,” Yun Miaozhen coldly retorted. “You’re the root of her woes.”
Lv Yang laughed. “Your tongue’s sharper than the sword. A shame you’re wasted on that sect—join my Holy Sect instead!”
“Sharp words won’t save you,” she said, golden light sweeping outward. The Supreme Taiyi Golden Radiance obliterated Lv Yang and his talismans in a single stroke, erasing them utterly—no trace, no remains, as if they’d never existed.
The light faded. Yun Miaozhen staggered, her radiance extinguished, her decades of cultivation shattered. Her Foundation Building path darkened, she spat blood, hollow with defeat.
“Leaving already?” Lv Yang’s voice rang out, unscathed and serene, though depleted.
“Impossible!” she gasped. “You should’ve been erased!”
He said nothing. His [Purple Talent: Have Some Skills] had countered her Golden Radiance—so long as her power didn’t exceed his limits. Two strikes, but two perfect strikes.
Lv Yang raised the Celestial Mirror, freezing Yun Miaozhen. “I’ll have the Taiyi Golden Radiance Alchemical Scripture.”
“You’ll get nothing!”
“We’ll see. I’m from the Holy Sect’s Heaven-Mending Peak, after all.”
Later, as the storm settled…
“A pity. Only a third of the text.” Lv Yang sighed. “The rest is sealed.”
Yun Miaozhen’s lips trembled. Forced to beg, she whispered, “Isn’t having me enough?”
“You?” He scoffed.
Before she could reply, he swung the Celestial Mirror. Thunder roared, and her body crumbled to dust.
