Chapter 52: A Month of Cultivation, A New Beginning
Chapter 52: A Month of Cultivation, A New Beginning
You Longsheng didn't mention the Iron Smelting Technique, only saying that the artisans at the mountain villa had refined a batch of fine steel. Out of gratitude for Master Zhuo's thoughtful condolences, they specially forged a Flying Dragon Sword as a gift, to symbolize the friendship between the Sword-Hiding Villa and the Kunlun Sect.
"The Kunlun Sect's 'Nine Styles of the Flying Dragon' is renowned throughout the land, and naturally, it deserves an equally renowned sword to match it."
"You are too kind, dear nephew!"
Master Zhuo was a tall and stately elder in his fifties, with a ruddy complexion and a solemn demeanor. He rarely smiled.
However, upon seeing the Flying Dragon Sword, he couldn't hide his delight.
How could the leader of the Kunlun Sect not love a fine sword?
You Longsheng then presented another gift—a slender and elegant sword specially crafted for his master. Only after this did he begin to recount his experiences over the past year.
"Unbelievable! In less than two years since I left Shanxi, so many major events have taken place in the martial arts world."
Xue Yingzi nodded. After sealing his sword and retiring from the world, he had stayed at the Sword-Hiding Villa to teach You Longsheng swordsmanship until two years ago when the Elder of the Hidden Dragon passed away. Only then did he return to Mount Tian.
"The Plum Blossom Thief has reappeared, Li Xunhuan has returned to the Central Plains, Bai Xiaosheng has perished, Shangguan Jinhong has established the Money Clan, and the Godly Blade Hall has entered the Guandong region..."
"Master, you know about the Godly Blade Hall too?"
"They are well-known in the Western Regions, the Frontier, the Northern Desert, and Guandong. How could I not know of them?" Xue Yingzi replied with a hint of annoyance. "I may have retired from the world, but I'm not dead. Their duel with the Demon Sect Leader two years ago happened right after I left my seclusion, so I made a detour to witness it."
"Oh? What a coincidence!"
You Longsheng's curiosity was piqued. "Then, Master, what do you think of Bai Tianyu's martial arts skills? Could you defeat him?"
At these words, Xue Yingzi paused and gave You Longsheng a sidelong glance. "It's been two years, and I don't know if you've made any progress. Come, let your master see how your swordsmanship has improved!"
You Longsheng: ...
Fortunately, due to his reincarnation, You Longsheng had been able to unlock all the potential from his previous life. In these past few months, he had diligently cultivated and practiced without rest.
Moreover, with his natural talent, coupled with his self-discipline, learning abilities, and practical application skills from his past life, his martial arts skills had improved by leaps and bounds.
Compared to when he had left Mount Tian, even if the change wasn't earth-shattering, it was still significant.
Not only was Master Zhuo astonished, but even Xue Yingzi himself was filled with surprise.
"Who would've thought that you're a practical talent? It seems that traveling the world is more beneficial than secluding yourself in closed-door training."
"But, disciple feels that I've exhausted all my previous knowledge, and now with these two formidable enemies, I have no choice but to seek Master's help to save my life." You Longsheng proceeded to recount the grudges and enmities once more.
"Blue Scorpion and the Great Blissful Female Bodhisattva?"
"They are just two women who have taken an unconventional path in swordsmanship. As long as you master the sword techniques I teach you, defeating them will be as easy as turning your hand."
You Longsheng smiled bitterly. "But the Blue Scorpion is as fast as lightning and adept at using poison, while the Great Blissful Female Bodhisattva has transformed herself into a mountain of flesh, making her defense invincible. I've heard that she can even trap a sword blade with the fat all over her body. Disciple truly doesn't feel confident..."
Xue Yingzi was a veteran of the martial world and knew of the fame and fearsome reputation of these two women.
However, he was even more confident in his own swordsmanship.
"Brother Zhuo, please allow me to borrow this place for a month. I shall discipline this good-for-nothing disciple of mine."
"Brother Eagle, you're too humble," Master Zhuo said. "If your disciple is still good-for-nothing, then our Kunlun Sect would have no one of value. As for the Blue Scorpion and the Great Blissful Female Bodhisattva, they are no ordinary people."
...
And so, You Longsheng didn't have to go to Mount Tian, but he was kept in Kunlun.
Before he could even begin training with Peng Lie, he was first subjected to Xue Yingzi's rigorous training.
However, You Longsheng's rapid progress also made Xue Yingzi more dedicated to his teaching, at least much more so than when he was instructing him at the Sword-Hiding Villa.
However, You Longsheng's rapid progress also motivated Xue Yingzi to become more dedicated as a teacher, far more so than when he was instructing You Longsheng at Sword-Hiding Villa.
Xue Yingzi now had hopes of nurturing his disciple into a peerless swordsman who would shock the world, rather than simply having him preserve the legacy of the Sword-Hiding Villa.
The story of a master and his disciple, each bringing out the best in the other, would become a legendary tale in the jianghu.
And so, You Longsheng's misery began.
It was like a flashback to his high school days, preparing for the grueling college entrance exams.
He practiced qinggong on thick snow, ensuring he left no traces and disturbed not a single leaf.
In the midst of a blizzard, he honed his swordsmanship, his hands as steady as Mount Tai, his sword unwavering by even half a fraction.
The Kunlun disciples provided practical training, starting with two swords and gradually increasing to four, then eight, with You Longsheng only allowed to defend and never attack.
Xue Yingzi braced himself for complaints from You Longsheng, but to his surprise, his disciple not only showed no signs of distress but his eyes shone with growing enthusiasm.
It was clear that You Longsheng was relishing this inhumane training.
"What an exceptional talent and diligent cultivator," Master Zhuo praised. "Brother Eagle, you've taken on an excellent disciple!"
Xue Yingzi blinked, his old face bewildered. "He wasn't like this before."
"He was still a child back then. Now that his father has passed away, he's grown up," Master Zhuo replied.
"Perhaps," Xue Yingzi agreed, his eyes shining with a light of their own.
"Take him to Snow Valley tomorrow to practice his body movement techniques! A master of the sword path must also excel in qinggong," Master Zhuo instructed.
And so, You Longsheng spent a month cultivating at Kunlun Mountain, making tremendous progress in his qinggong and swordsmanship. On top of that, Xue Yingzi imparted countless combat experiences and even taught him the Kunlun Sect's renowned "Flying Dragon's Nine Styles."
"Focus on practicing the 'Divine Dragon's Nine Bends Sword Technique' and the 'Blizzard's Seventy-Two Styles.' As for the 'Flying Dragon's Nine Styles,' just learn it for adaptability," Xue Yingzi instructed.
"Yes, disciple understands!" You Longsheng replied.
A month later, You Longsheng stood in the Kunlun Sect's main hall once more. While he hadn't exactly undergone a metamorphosis, he felt like a new person.
You Longsheng felt that he could now face Yi Ku head-on.
"That's just an illusion, of course," Xue Yingzi said nonchalantly.
You Longsheng: "..."
"But it won't be easy for Yi Ku to kill you again."
"So..."
"So, even if you still can't beat Blue Scorpion and Great Blissful Female Bodhisattva, evading and escaping them won't be a problem," Xue Yingzi continued. "From now on, cultivate diligently every day. In another two years, it will be them running away from you."
"Thank you, Master!"
You Longsheng bowed to Xue Yingzi to express his gratitude and then turned to Master Zhuo, offering his thanks once more. "Thank you, Uncle Zhuo!"
"You're welcome. Your father and I were sworn brothers, and since you have this ability, why would I hold back?" Master Zhuo said. "But remember, nephew, there are no powerful martial arts in this world, only powerful people."
"Yes!"
"Alright, we've given you the sword, and your intentions are clear. I've taught you all that I can. You've stayed here long enough, so it's time to descend the mountain," Master Zhuo concluded.
Xue Yingzi waved his hand, signaling for You Longsheng and his companions to leave.
And so, Duan Qian and Feng Wan accompanied You Longsheng on his journey back.
"Lord You, what about the Persian Beauties?" Duan Qian asked.
"Oh, I forgot to mention. Those Persian Beauties have converted to Islam. They're now fully covered in black veils and are extremely conservative, no longer the carefree souls they once were," You Longsheng replied.
Duan Qian and Feng Wan: "..."
However, they soon had other concerns besides teasing You Longsheng. Because when they returned to Guanzhong, they encountered a woman who, while not exceptionally beautiful, had a charm that could lead men astray.
