Chapter 517: Silence! You Are Slandering Us!
Chapter 517: Silence! You Are Slandering Us!
The Dark Wizards were vocally condemning the Nott Family's despicable actions.
Ivan was taken aback by what he heard. He never expected a Pureblood Family to have the audacity to commit such heinous acts.
"Silence! You are slandering us!" Res Nott was trembling with rage.
If they were accused of trading Prohibited Items and smuggling various Illegal Magical Creatures, he could admit that much!
But the disappearances of Wizards in Knockturn Alley had nothing to do with them!
The Aurors were merely those who maintained the Rules and order in the Wizarding Market, with no intention of implicating the Ministry of Magic!
However, Res Nott's solitary defense was clearly no match for the four Dark Wizards' relentless accusations.
Moreover, given the Nott Family's less-than-stellar reputation, it didn't take long for Res Nott to turn red with anger, nearly fainting from the stress.
Ivan stood aside, quietly listening to their arguments. He was well aware that neither side was necessarily telling the whole truth.
The Dark Wizards might exaggerate and fabricate to ingratiate themselves, while Res Nott, as a member of the Nott Family, would naturally defend his family's actions.
But Ivan didn't care about the specifics. In fact, he had little interest in the Nott Family's dirty deeds. He simply wanted to know why they were targeting Asia and himself!
Thinking about it, Ivan felt a surge of anger. He and Asia had always lived quietly in Knockturn Alley, never causing trouble, and they even planned to move out this year.
Yet, at this critical moment, the Nott Family dared to provoke them. How could Ivan not be furious?
He began to wonder if he had been too low-key, making himself appear like an easy target for anyone to bully!
What Ivan found frustrating was that these Dark Wizards, due to their low ranks, lacked access to crucial information. They rambled on without hitting the key points.
Ivan slightly lowered his head, his eyes fixed on Res Nott, and asked impatiently.
"I'll give you one last chance, Mr. Notte. Why is your Nott Family deliberately targeting me? Is it about the incident two years ago?"
"We didn't!" Res Nott roared in anger.
As he looked at Ivan, he suddenly realized something, a chill running down his spine. He lost the will to continue defending himself.
Res Nott found his earlier behavior laughable. The young witches and wizards in front of him weren't trying to uncover the truth; they were forcing him to confess to a fabricated story!
For instance, a tale where the Nott Family, driven by greed and shamelessness, provoked the other party, who then acted in self-defense!
The story had to be told by a member of the Nott Family to gain everyone's trust, which was why they kept asking the same question!
In return, Res Nott suspected that the young witches and wizards would spare his life, allowing him to spread the story and highlight their magnanimity!
In a matter of seconds, Res Nott understood everything. Faced with the choice between life and death, he chose the latter without hesitation!
His pride wouldn't allow him to tarnish his family's honor!
Res Nott risked his life, mustered his courage, and boldly shouted.
"Don't act so righteous, Hals! You sent people to attack the Wizarding Market, ordered them to kill Aurors, all to intimidate us and rule over the entire Knockturn Alley, becoming the next Dark Lord and controlling the entire Wizarding World!"
"Your ambition will never come to fruition!" Res Nott stared at Ivan, enunciating each word clearly.
Ivan was utterly bewildered. He looked at Res Nott with a strange expression, wondering if the guy had hit his head and lost his marbles. When had he ever wanted to control the Wizarding World and become a second Dark Lord?
Besides, he had only just returned to Knockturn Alley today. How could he have possibly ordered his subordinates to attack the Wizarding Market?
Wouldn't he know if he had sent someone?
Moreover, Ivan didn't believe Asia would do such a thing. From what he knew, Asia didn't have such grand ambitions. Otherwise, she wouldn't have casually handed these people over to him to manage.
So, the truth was probably only one thing: Res Nott would rather provoke him to death than reveal any information about the family!
Ivan shook his head inwardly. Res Nott was indeed a respectable Wizard, but it seemed he didn't know that Dawgert had already extracted everything using Veritaserum while he was unconscious!
This stubbornness was utterly meaningless!
"Is this all you have to say? What a great joke. I think you have no other value!" Ivan lost his last bit of patience. Although he admired Res Nott's determination, it didn't mean he would forgive the repeated insults.
Ivan planned to find Dawgert or Asia later to get the full story. Res Nott no longer needed to live!
Keeping an Animagus restrained and preventing them from escaping was no easy task. A dead man was much safer!
Ivan's gaze grew increasingly dangerous. Thinking about what Dawgert had told him about establishing authority, he had an idea.
Res Nott keenly sensed that his death was imminent. His body trembled slightly from fear, but he still held himself up, head held high, eyes fixed on Ivan, silent and resolute like a warrior.
In the presence of all, Ivan slowly raised his left hand.
Was this a hint? Dawgert furrowed his brow, trying to make sense of it, but the information was too scarce. Even with his wisdom, he couldn't deduce anything.
The Wizards present were also puzzled, their gazes shifting to Ivan's raised left hand.
Snap~
Ivan casually snapped his fingers. The sharp sound echoed in the closed meeting hall, and the golden flames around them seemed to flicker, the light wavering.
The next moment, everything returned to normal.
Just as everyone was confused, Res Nott's body suddenly stiffened, as if his soul had been torn away. He collapsed weakly to the ground, eyes wide open, his face full of terror and bewilderment, as if he had seen something incomprehensible.
Dead?
The Wizards who witnessed this felt a chill run through their hearts.
They had speculated on how Ivan would execute this Wizard who dared to offend him. Would he use Avada Kedavra to end his life in one fell swoop? Or would he use Crucio to torture him to death?
But Ivan once again defied their expectations. He simply raised his hand and snapped his fingers casually, and before their eyes, he took a life!
