Chapter 517: Prime Minister Gordon Visits Skrul
Chapter 517: Prime Minister Gordon Visits Skrul
The "Air Force Two" helicopter landed on a helipad at the mountaintop base.
Prime Minister Gordon stepped down from the helicopter, his steps unsteady and his body trembling. At 78 years old, the constant travel was a significant burden for the elderly statesman.
But he had no choice.
For the sake of his family, he had to do this.
On the helipad, Jenevieve and Monk were already waiting for him.
Monk's expression was less than pleasant. He had spent the last two hours trying to persuade Jenevieve, but the stubborn woman had not budged, which left him feeling quite frustrated.
Jenevieve, on the other hand, showed little emotion. Her mind was focused solely on her mission: to bring Prime Minister Gordon back to Skrul.
Seeing Gordon step down from the helicopter, Jenevieve approached him gracefully, donning a Blue Star language translator and extending her hand. "Human, I am Jenevieve, Deputy Commander of the Expeditionary Force. It is a pleasure to meet you."
Monk also put on a translator and said coolly, "I am Monk, the Commander of this base. We have met before."
Gordon was initially overjoyed to see them. In the past, when he visited the Skrul base, he was usually greeted by Monk's subordinates. The last time he had the honor of meeting Monk himself was a rare occurrence.
He never expected Monk to personally greet him at the helipad, and even more surprisingly, bring a more prominent official with him!
This clearly showed the Skrulians' respect for him!
However, Gordon's smile quickly faded.
Through the translator, Jenevieve and Monk spoke in perfect Chinese, a language he could barely understand! His grasp of Chinese was poor, making the situation incredibly difficult.
"Ni ge. Wo men can use Yingyu?" he said, struggling with his mixed Chinese and English.
Jenevieve and Monk were a bit confused by the translation. "Can yu si" (can you four)? What kind of special dish is that?
But the oral translator could only translate Chinese, and the English module was not yet available.
After a series of gestural exchanges, neither side understood the other.
Finally, Monk found a female officer in the base who knew a bit of English, and they managed to resolve the translation issue.
It took over ten minutes to sort out the translation.
Gordon, an elderly man, was standing on the helipad in the strong mountain wind, swaying unsteadily as if he might fall at any moment.
Jenevieve glanced at him, her eyes slightly disdainful.
The Blue Star people chose such an old and frail man as their Prime Minister? What were they thinking?
However, she did not show her disdain too openly.
She said to Gordon, "I have come to the Blue Star to invite you to visit Skrul. Our Expeditionary Force Commander, Lance, wishes to meet you. The entire process will take only one or two hours. Are you willing to come with me?"
Jenevieve's words were clearly translated to Gordon.
Gordon's heart leaped with joy.
Being invited to Skrul meant the Skrulians had fully recognized him! This was undoubtedly good news!
However, he was also hesitant.
He knew the Skrulians were skilled in mind control. Would this trip to Skrul result in him being brainwashed and turned into their puppet? If that happened, it would be a terrible outcome.
Jenevieve, a psychic telekinetic, immediately saw through Gordon's thoughts.
She smiled and said, "Don't worry. I give you my word as the Deputy Commander of the Expeditionary Force that I will not attempt any form of mental control on you."
"And once our collaboration is complete, we will always consider you our ally and treat you with the respect due to an ally!"
Jenny said this while subtly using her "Mental Suggestion" ability.
As a powerful sixth-rank psychic, she only needed to exert a little effort to make Gordon, an ordinary human, believe her without a doubt.
"Alright, I'm willing to follow you to Skrul!" Gordon said with a cheerful laugh.
Jenny then led Gordon and the translator onto her private spacecraft and returned to the Solar Capital through a spatial rift.
This was Gordon's first time riding in a spacecraft, and the experience was entirely novel. He couldn't stop gazing out the window in fascination.
After passing through the spatial rift, the magnificent view of the Solar Capital below was fully visible.
From Gordon's perspective, the sight was overwhelmingly awe-inspiring! The Solar Capital was a sprawling city with towering buildings that stretched hundreds of meters into the sky, seemingly endless in every direction. The artificial floating islands in the sky shimmered under the bright sun, adding to the city's grandeur.
It felt as if he had stepped into a science fiction movie! Of course, he had seen videos of Su Yu's "tour" on Skrul, and he had watched them more than once.
But watching a video and actually being in the world were two entirely different experiences.
It was like watching a sci-fi movie and then suddenly finding yourself inside it—anyone would be stunned speechless.
Now, as he gazed down at the Solar Capital, the epitome of Skrul civilization, Gordon felt a wave of dizziness wash over him.
This wasn't because the Skrul had done anything to him; it was simply that he was too old to handle such a massive sensory overload.
Jenny glanced at him, slightly pursing her lips.
She had originally planned to show Gordon the grandeur of the Solar Capital by circling the city a few times before taking him to meet Lance at the headquarters. However, the human in front of her was too frail. If he had a heart attack during the flight, who would she blame?
Reluctantly, she abandoned her plan and took Gordon straight to the Expeditionary Force's headquarters to report to Commander Lance.
In Lance's office at the headquarters, he had been waiting for a while. He had ordered his AI assistant to freshly squeeze a cup of Rakto juice, which he was sipping slowly.
Jenny knocked lightly on the door and entered with Gordon and the translator. "Commander, I have brought the leader of the Pacific Nation, Gordon."
"Thank you, Jenny. You've done well," Lance nodded, his gaze fixed on Gordon.
Gordon had already exhausted his strength during the journey and was now sitting on a dog-like robotic mount. Seeing Lance, he struggled to stand up.
Lance gestured for him to remain seated. "There's no need to stand. We understand your condition. We can talk like this."
He introduced himself. "I'm Lance, the Commander of the Skrul Expeditionary Force. I'm the one who requested to meet you."
Gordon was now so overwhelmed that the veins in his temples were throbbing.
After the translator relayed the introduction, he understood who was in front of him.
Meeting such an important figure made him feel the respect the Skrul were showing him!
"Commander, it's an honor to meet you," Gordon placed his hand over his heart and bowed. "I am Gordon, the Prime Minister of the Pacific Nation of Milikan on Earth. It is a great honor to meet you!"
