Chapter 517: Dialga: Arceus is an Evil God...
Chapter 517: Dialga: Arceus is an Evil God...
"Wow!"
After a brief moment of silence, the entire Royal Dome erupted in thunderous cheers.
Countless spectators leaped excitedly from their seats, overcome with enthusiasm.
Kapu Guardians!
What had they just witnessed? An ordinary Frostine Fairy had just defeated three formidable opponents with a single use of the move Lucky Chant, a technique that relied purely on luck! In terms of drama and excitement, this ordinary qualifying match far surpassed competitions of higher tiers.
Who could have imagined before the match that the Frostine Fairy would be capable of taking on three opponents alone, starting with Dragon Gem, instantly taking down Exeggutor, severely wounding Incineroar, and finishing with a devastating blow to Vanilluxe! Who would dare call that Frostine Fairy harmless now?!
Roger completely forgot his earlier thoughts as he gripped the microphone, his voice shaking with excitement, spittle flying from his mouth.
"Incredible! Simply incredible! The outcome of this battle was so unexpected! That Frostine Fairy pulled off a remarkable feat, taking down three opponents with just one Lucky Chant!"
"To successfully pull off Lucky Chant three times in a row and get attack-type moves each time, and such powerful ones at that—it's not just good luck, I believe that Frostine Fairy has its own unique insights and understanding!"
"Let's congratulate Winged King on his victory and successful advancement to the Super Rank!"
"Yohoo!"
The crowd caught the feverish enthusiasm, and people had already started shouting out Shiki's codename.
"Winged King!"
"Winged King!"
"Winged King!"
The voices rippled like waves, one after another, until they echoed throughout the entire Royal Dome.
Immersed in this exhilarating atmosphere, Shiki maintained his composure, calm and collected, despite it being his first time experiencing such adulation.
The Frostine Fairy, on the other hand, was a different story.
This was its first time encountering such a situation.
The spectators' cheers and the colorful ribbons raining down from the stage left the Frostine Fairy completely dazzled.
It, too, was caught up in the excitement.
"Mama!"
The Frostine Fairy turned to Shiki, its eyes shining with pride.
It looked at Shiki as if asking if it had been amazing.
Shiki smiled and nodded, offering lavish praise: "Fantastic!"
"Mama!"
"Today's match was definitely worth the trip! Amazing! Truly worth the price of admission!"
"It's unbelievable! That Frostine Fairy took down three opponents with a single Lucky Chant. I've only seen trainers use that move in the Grand Festival!"
"That Winged King competitor is so interesting! I'm a fan now!"
"Winged King... I wonder when his next match will be, and if he'll send out the Frostine Fairy again. That sci-fi orbital cannon move the Frostine Fairy used at the end—I'm not sure even Master Rank trainers could handle that."
"I really want to see that!"
In a cafe outside the Royal Dome, several spectators who had just watched the match were passionately discussing what they had just witnessed.
Someone even made a GIF of the battle and posted it on the Pokemon forum, tagging the renowned Pokemon researcher, Professor Oak, to inquire about the two unfamiliar moves they had seen.
Meanwhile, in the competitors' passageway of the Royal Dome, Shiki, now changed back into his regular clothes, was registering his information with the attendant, Vivian.
"Congratulations, Winged King. You've successfully advanced to the Super Rank. You can now start challenging Super Rank opponents."
"Just like in the Regular Rank, when you accumulate enough points, we will prepare a qualification match for you to advance to the High Rank, where you'll be able to participate in even higher-level competitions."
"Also, here is your prize money for today's match. Please take it."
Vivian handed over a stack of cash.
Shiki glanced at it. With his current fame, winning a Royal Battle would earn him at most three to four thousand Pokedollars. The total from these few matches didn't even amount to twenty thousand.
It was negligible compared to the income from his ranch.
However, Shiki wasn't complaining. He happily accepted the money, planning to buy some Alolan malasadas, a local specialty, for Golleton.
Before leaving the Royal Dome, Shiki checked his current ranking on his Rotom Phone.
[Player Codename: Winged King
Rank: Super
Points: 0 (10 points to advance to High Rank)
Ranking: 1568]
Hmm? The number of Super Rank players seems to be several times more than those in the Regular Rank? No wonder the Regular Rank is filled with newbies like Shorts Kid...
So, this is where the strong players are hiding!
Shiki recalled the situation during his match and noticed that compared to the Regular Rank, where the audience was mostly children, the Super Rank matches had a noticeably larger audience, even if the seats weren't entirely filled.
Consequently, the opponents were also significantly stronger.
However, Shiki was confident he could handle whatever came his way, even if it was Professor Kukui; he was ready for a battle.
"No need." Naoki couldn't wait to reach the Master Rank and obtain the Certificate of Island Challenge.
"Alright then, I'll get you set up." Vivian quickly typed away at her computer.
Soon, she had found Winged King's next opponent.
"Match found! Your next battle is at 3:00 PM today." Vivian informed him.
...
Naoki gathered his belongings and left the Royal Dome. On his way back to the ranch, he bought a few malasadas from a roadside stall with the money he had won from the battles.
When he returned to the ranch on his Motostoke Rahi, he saw Golleton with its head drooping, looking dejected as it lay on the grass by the ranch gate.
It looked like a big dog waiting for its owner to return to the village.
As soon as it saw them approaching, Golleton's eyes lit up, and it stood up from the ground.
If Golleton were a canine Pokemon, its tail would have been wagging like crazy by now.
Naoki's heart softened at the sight, and he hopped off the Motostoke Rahi. He reached out and gave Golleton's head a good rub.
"Didn't I tell you to stay inside and watch TV? Why did you come out again?" Naoki asked.
Since Golleton couldn't be recalled into a Poke Ball, to prevent others from discovering its identity, Naoki would leave it at the ranch and turn on the TV for it to watch whenever he went to the Royal Dome for a battle.
"Ah ga sii..." Golleton pitifully conveyed that it had indeed watched TV! It had only come out after the battle was over because it knew Naoki would be returning soon.
Naoki: "..."
"Just bear with it for a few more days. We'll be done soon." Naoki comforted Golleton by patting its head.
He then took out the malasadas he had bought for Golleton and hand-fed them to it.
Golleton's mood swings were as swift as they came, and it soon happily devoured the treats Naoki offered.
Just then, a video call from Giratina came through.
Naoki was bewildered as he answered the call.
The next second, he heard Giratina's roar from the other end.
"That was Arceus's power! I saw it!"
"?"
Initially, Naoki didn't understand what Giratina was talking about, but soon, he recalled the move that Frostine Fairy had used earlier.
"Calm down, that was Frostine Fairy's 'Finger Wag.' With good luck, 'Finger Wag' can randomly select any move, even your 'Shadow Force,'" Naoki explained reassuringly.
Hearing this, Giratina was filled with skepticism, and a big question mark appeared above its head.
Could it be true? Could that ordinary move, 'Finger Wag,' be that powerful?
Could it learn that move? If it did, could it use Arceus's Judgment?
Wait! Now didn't seem like the right time to be thinking about that.
Recalling the scene of Frostine Fairy using that move, Giratina still felt a twinge of worry.
Its tone turned serious. "Do you think we've caught Arceus's attention?"
After all, what they were doing wasn't exactly virtuous...
Giratina was well aware that Naoki had entered these battles to obtain something that would enhance their strength and prepare for their future revenge against Arceus.
Hearing Giratina's concern, Naoki was taken aback for a moment. "How is that possible?"
According to the plot of the movie "Arceus and the Jewel of Life," Arceus should still be sleeping soundly in some remote corner of the world!
After all, it had exhausted itself trying to stop the meteor from falling and needed to recover through slumber.
"Don't worry, it's not time for Arceus to wake up yet!" Naoki reassured, knowing that Dialga and Palkia hadn't started their fight yet.
Giratina breathed a sigh of relief. After all, Naoki seemed to possess some sort of ability to foresee the past and future.
Given their relationship, Giratina trusted that Naoki wouldn't deceive it! However, Naoki wasn't entirely sure about the exact timing of Arceus's awakening, as the movie hadn't specified a timeframe.
Based on Ash and his friends' attire, it seemed like the events were taking place sometime between summer and autumn.
After some thoughtful consideration, Naoki said to Giratina, "You can ask your fans if any of them live in Michina. Request them to keep an eye on that place, as Arceus will appear there when it awakens."
"How do you know that?" Giratina asked, perplexed.
Naoki: "Because there's a legend about Arceus in Michina!"
Seeing Giratina's continued skepticism, Naoki proceeded to recount the plot of the movie.
"In short, Arceus fused its five plates into a 'Life Orb' to show gratitude to a human who had returned its plates."
"...'
However, even in the face of such events, Arceus had no intention of intervening.
It wanted to continue observing.
To watch and see how the human named Naoki and the Giratina that had come into contact with humans would steer the situation.
