Chapter 516: What? Is That True? How Come I Didn't Know?
Chapter 516: What? Is That True? How Come I Didn’t Know?
Res Nott's expression gradually shifted from smug satisfaction to sheer terror.
After being captured by Aishi and the others in the manor, he had been knocked unconscious and did not witness Ivan's overwhelming victory over the Dark Wizard in the alley. It wasn't until Dawgert interrogated him that he regained consciousness.
So when he saw a thirteen- or fourteen-year-old young witches and wizards suddenly transform into a massive Giant right in front of him, it completely exceeded his comprehension.
Res Nott found it impossible to believe, and he refused to accept this reality!
He let out a series of roars, desperately clawing and pounding at the arm Ivan used to grip his neck, trying to tear through this illusion.
However, the Giant's skin was too tough. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't leave a single mark.
Ivan had no intention of showing mercy. He tightened his grip on Res Nott's arm, and the massive brown bear's body tensed. His two claws flailed helplessly in the air as a strong feeling of suffocation overwhelmed him. He opened his mouth wide in a grotesque grimace, but only managed to emit some incomprehensible sounds.
Ivan's five fingers clamped down like iron pincers, gradually tightening. Res Nott felt his neck about to snap, and a sense of despair washed over him, making his mind hazy.
Just as Res Nott thought he was going to suffocate to death, the large hand finally loosened its grip, and he crashed to the ground, his body reverting to its Wizards form.
However, the pride that had once adorned Res Nott's face was gone. He clutched his bruised and purple neck, his body slowly inching backward, his eyes wide with shock as he stared at the figure before him, muttering to himself.
"This can't be... This can't be!"
"There's nothing impossible!" Ivan ended the Boggart Transformation and returned to his thirteen- or fourteen-year-old young witches and wizards appearance. He looked at the trembling, frightened Res Nott and spoke each word clearly.
"I told you this before, Mr. Res Nott! Weakness and ignorance are not obstacles to survival; arrogance is!"
Res Nott's body shook, unable to muster a response.
Ivan had already proven the truth of his words, shattering the beliefs that had been ingrained in Res Nott's mind. Res Nott even began to doubt whether the teachings he had received were correct.
Do Pureblood Wizards really stand above others, possessing superior magical talents compared to Half-Bloods and Muggle-Borns?
Then why isn't the Hals Family among the Twenty-Eight Pureblood Noble Clans?
The other Wizards present were also stunned by Ivan's display of blood magic. Although they had learned some information from the Dark Wizards during the interrogation, nothing could compare to the shock of witnessing it firsthand.
Those who had previously doubted Ivan's strength quickly reined in their skepticism.
Ivan slowly approached Res Nott, looking at the young Wizard who had lost all his fighting spirit and felt a deep disappointment. He spoke.
"Mr. Res Nott, I believe you can tell me now?"
"Tell you what?" Res Nott looked bewildered, stammering his reply.
"Tell me the truth. Why has your Nott Family been so deliberately targeting us?" Ivan emphasized, pressing his question.
Earlier, due to the urgency of the situation, he hadn't had the chance to understand the conflict between Asia and the Wizarding Market. Now that he had the opportunity, he wanted to get to the bottom of it.
What? Is that true? Res Nott's mind reeled as he stared at Ivan, utterly confused.
In his memory, it was Asia who had recruited a large number of people to provoke them, intending to seize control of the Wizarding Market. The Nott Family had only retaliated out of necessity.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have wasted so much money and effort, and he wouldn't have come to this forsaken place.
"Lord Hals, you might have misunderstood", Res Nott hurriedly rebutted. However, he didn't dare to say anything too harsh, lest he anger the seemingly harmless but actually vicious and evil young witches and wizards in front of him.
"Misunderstood? It seems you don't want to talk?" Ivan coldly laughed, interrupting Res Nott's words. He hadn't expected the other party to be so stubborn, and he had underestimated him before!
"If you don't want to talk, it doesn't matter. I'm sure someone will be willing to tell me, won't they?" Ivan turned to look at the few Dark Wizards kneeling on the ground and continued speaking.
Hearing Ivan's words, the Dark Wizards were momentarily stunned.
Fortunately, there were enough clever people who, combining Ivan's previous statements, quickly realized that this was a test from Ivan!
One enlightened Dark Wizard immediately pointed at Res Nott with a righteous and fierce expression.
"Lord Hals is right; there is no misunderstanding at all! Your foolish attempts to resist the great Lord Hals are unforgivable sins!"
Ivan frowned. What was all this nonsense? He only wanted to know why Asia had a conflict with the Wizarding Market.
Another Dark Wizard, noticing the change in Ivan's expression, immediately understood that his companion's words did not meet Ivan's expectations.
The young witches and wizards indeed had ambitious plans to dominate Knockturn Alley, but they did not intend to do so through brutal killings to instill fear. They needed a pretext to occupy the moral high ground!
With this in mind, the Dark Wizard decisively revealed the Nott Family's underhanded dealings in Knockturn Alley.
As the Pureblood Families who secretly controlled the largest Black Market in the Wizarding World, their business naturally spanned a wide range, including but not limited to trafficking Illegal Magical Creatures, trading various Prohibited Items, and occasionally engaging in black market activities.
However, the Nott Family never did these things themselves but controlled their proxies, hiring a group of so-called Aurors in Knockturn Alley to act on their behalf.
Since these Pureblood Families only cared about profits and rarely interfered in the management of the Wizarding Market, this led to some Aurors mistreating and bullying others to curry favor or for personal gain.
Many Wizards complained about this, but due to the lack of unity and the significant disparity in individual strength compared to the Wizarding Market, most people dared to be angry but not to speak out.
After this Dark Wizard spoke, the other three quickly realized that Ivan wanted a legitimate reason to occupy the Wizarding Market and began to supplement and even fabricate accusations.
"Every year, several people mysteriously disappear from Knockturn Alley. They must be researching some forbidden Dark Magic!"
"They call themselves Aurors, surely with the intention of becoming the Ministry of Magic of Knockturn Alley! What a laughable idea! Lord Hals will never let you succeed!"
