Chapter 516: Talia and Huberian's Confession
Chapter 516: Talia and Huberian's Confession
In the Eastern District of the South Ventina Border Territory, near the coast, stood a large chamber of commerce building. On the third floor, a bedroom window was half-open, welcoming the fresh sea breeze.
Inside the room, thin white curtains billowed rhythmically with the wind, and beyond the window, the relentless waves crashed against the shore, creating a soft, continuous echo that lulled one into a peaceful slumber.
Talia slowly opened her eyes, taking in the unfamiliar yet calming surroundings. She turned her head to find two pairs of eyes gazing at her—belonging to Lanchi and Huberian.
They had placed two chairs by her bedside and had been keeping watch, apparently waiting for her to wake up for quite some time.
"Talia, how are you feeling?" Lanchi asked with concern as he noticed her awakening.
Talia nodded slightly and made an effort to sit up. Her waist-length hair was slightly disheveled, and her right cheek was wrapped in bandages, but even with just her left eye and lips visible, one could confirm that she possessed a breathtaking beauty rarely seen in the human realm.
"We're currently at the Wilford Chamber of Commerce, and we'll be staying here for the next few days," Lanchi explained to Talia.
After the attack, they had temporarily moved to the third floor of the Wilford Chamber of Commerce in the Eastern District. The place could also serve as a residential mansion.
"Talia, my Talia," Huberian said as she first gazed at the recovering Talia, then hugged her tightly, tears welling up in her eyes as if she had been worried that Talia wouldn't wake up.
Talia was initially stunned, hesitating for a moment before eventually placing her left hand gently on Huberian's back.
"It's alright, Huberian," Talia said softly.
She didn't know if she had fulfilled her responsibility to protect Huberian, but she knew that this was the time to comfort her.
"How long have I been asleep?" Talia asked, allowing Huberian to hold her and looking at Lanchi.
She had just realized that her right hand felt weak, and when she glanced at it, she saw that it was wrapped tightly in bandages.
She felt like she had just woken up from a very long dream. In her dream, she had seen Anthanas frantically treating her wounds, but it had all been a dream. There was no longer anyone in this world with Anthanas' exceptional medical skills in the demon realm.
"Just one night," Lanchi replied, glancing at Huberian.
Huberian had stayed up all night, filled with worry, and had kept Talia company. However, Lanchi had guessed that Talia would probably wake up during the day, as she hadn't eaten for over ten hours and would likely be woken by hunger.
"..." Talia stared at Lanchi.
For some reason, she felt an increasing urge to capture and ravage this human. Although he hadn't done or said anything, his mind always seemed to be abnormally active when it shouldn't be.
As Talia thought about this, Huberian brought over a breakfast of foil-wrapped food that she had kept warm using a life magic device, unsure of when Talia would wake up.
Upon unwrapping the foil, a golden-brown, freshly baked bun was revealed. Huberian held it up to Talia's mouth with her hand suspended below.
Talia took a bite from the end, and her expression gradually became calm. The crust was crispy, the inside soft and warm, the dough chewy, and the aroma of sweet, melted cheese and tender beef filled the air.
At that moment, Talia truly felt alive again.
"It's a bit unfortunate that we probably won't be able to visit Azure Coast today."
Lanchi walked to one side of the bedroom, poured three cups of honey lemon tea, placed them on Talia's bedside table, and sat down again next to Huberian.
With his peripheral vision, he noticed that in a short while, the beef and cheese bread had been reduced to just its foil wrapping.
"Here, Tata."
Huberian handed Talia the lemon tea, and Talia took a sip from the edge of the cup.
Starting with the warm and mellow sweetness unique to sugar, the distinctively refreshing flavor of lemon came through. When the moisture in her mouth was absorbed by the bread, Lanchi's timely offering of this drink was just right.
Although Talia had never tried to rely on others to take care of herself, she found that these two, because they had been living with her for a long time, seemed to be extremely adept at caring for her, fully knowing what she liked and needed.
This feeling was surprisingly not bad.
"Didn't you say that you would go no matter what if you encountered a force majeure?"
Talia leaned against the headboard and looked at Lanchi and asked.
She had originally thought that Lanchi was already prepared to take her and Huberian to the Azure Wave Coast.
After all, he was someone who valued promises immensely, and he did as he said, even going as far as to ask the Resurrection Church to leave when they attacked.
Now they were just one step away from fulfilling that promise.
Although her physical condition wasn't ideal, she wasn't as fragile as an ordinary human, and going out for a trip was still manageable.
"Rest well."
Lanchi just smiled casually, not at all concerned about the itinerary.
"Forcing you to go out and play would be putting the cart before the horse."
Lanchi waved his hand and stood up to temporarily bid Talia farewell and left the room.
It was as if he was giving space to Talia and Huberian to be alone together.
Lanchi sensed Huberian's hesitation, and there were some things that they should have been honest with each other about a long time ago.
"..."
Talia placed her hands on the pristine white bedding and looked in the direction Lanchi had left, silent for a moment.
Until the curtains fluttered again.
She exhaled, finally looking at Huberian.
"Huberian, did Almytis give you that magic?"
The freezing magic that Huberian had used to protect herself earlier was clearly not something she inherently possessed.
Talia was well aware that Huberian didn't have an affinity for ice or healing attributes, and it would be nearly impossible for her to learn a divine-level spell, no matter how long she tried.
For Huberian to obtain this spell, she must have met the Ice Snow Witch, Almytis, on the Northern Continent.
"Yes, during the first two months on the Northern Continent, Almytis was the one taking care of me. She taught me a lot of things, and in the end, she even gave me a unique holy magic card of hers."
Huberian replied.
Talia fixed her gaze on Huberian's eyes.
"So, do you know who I am now?"
Talia seemed calm, but her anxiety was palpable.
Or perhaps when she asked this question, she already had an answer in her heart.
Huberian took Talia's hand and nodded.
"You are my most important family."
There was a hint of grievance in Huberian's voice, but it was also filled with gratitude and determination, as if she was telling Talia that she had finally found her.
"..."
Talia didn't respond, slowly lowering her head.
Instead, she tightened her grip on Huberian's hand, as if conveying all the thoughts she couldn't express through the warmth of her palm.
