Chapter 515: A Mother's Strength
Chapter 515: A Mother’s Strength
Liu Qingyun’s lips curved into a smirk. “Who wants to die? We’ll see in a moment.”
As she spoke, she raised her other hand and jabbed two fingers directly at her opponent’s eyes.
It was hard to imagine such a shameless tactic coming from the princess of the Miao Borderlands.
After all, she wasn’t weak in martial arts.
This was likely due to the saying that like father, like daughter.
Fortunately, the man was prepared and managed to dodge Liu Qingyun’s demonic fingers in time.
However, this dodge loosened his grip, allowing Liu Qingyun to break free.
Liu Qingyun slapped her palm toward his chest.
They exchanged a palm strike.
The immense internal energy sent Liu Qingyun reeling back several steps. Fortunately, the various gadgets on her person absorbed most of the force.
The man spoke with certainty. “Your gadgets won’t last long.”
Liu Qingyun replied without hesitation. “Long enough for you to die.”
The cramped room left little room for maneuvering.
Liu Qingyun’s movements were restricted, and her hidden weapons were limited. She reached for her waist, only to find her pouch was gone.
The man said, “Looking for your venom?”
Liu Qingyun narrowed her eyes. “You know me well. Are you from my father’s side or my mother’s?”
The man’s voice, cold and deep from behind the mask, replied, “Aren’t you supposed to be so clever? Guess.”
Liu Qingyun said calmly, “Do you think a mask and a changed voice can fool me? You’ve been exposed the moment you entered the room.”
Her gaze traveled from top to bottom, settling on his right hand. “Don’t you realize you’ve been doing something repeatedly?”
The man looked down at his hand.
Now!
Liu Qingyun flicked her sleeve, scattering a white powder. “A poison even the Medicine King Valley can’t cure. Die!”
The man raised his sleeve to block.
Liu Qingyun slipped past him, dashing out the door and fleeing with her light steps.
“Master!”
A servant dressed as a villager rushed into the room.
The man’s fingertips brushed the powder on his sleeve. “Cosmetic powder. Bai Zheng, you’ve really changed.”
The servant relaxed. “Master, should we chase her?”
The man gazed in the direction Liu Qingyun had fled. “She won’t leave the village.”
Liu Qingyun was lost in the village.
No matter which direction she took, she always ended up back at the peach tree where she had marked her path.
“What’s going on? What’s so strange about this village? Why can’t I leave?”
It was a cloudy day, so she couldn’t use the shadows to determine her direction.
As night fell, a mist enveloped the area, making it even harder for Liu Qingyun to orient herself.
Worse still, she was getting colder.
“So cold…”
Her breath formed a mist in the air.
The more she walked, the more she felt something was off. Not only was her body temperature dropping, but her strength was also rapidly fading.
“How long have I been walking? This isn’t right…”
Her legs gave out, and she quickly grabbed the tree trunk for support.
She tried to stand up but couldn’t muster the strength.
“What’s happening?”
Her heart pounded, and cold sweat broke out all over her body, making her feel dizzy.
A sharp pain in her shoulder, and she collapsed to the ground.
Her eyelids grew heavy.
In her blurred vision, she saw several villagers wearing bronze fang masks approaching her.
Just as one of them reached out to grab her, a silver needle shot through his palm with terrifying force, pinning him to the tree!
Before he could even scream, a heavy mace shattered his chest, killing him instantly!
The others’ eyes widened in shock and fear as they turned to see who had attacked.
Under the moonlight, a blue-clothed, masked woman rode a white horse, appearing as if she had risen from the underworld.
“Watch this!”
Cui Hu hooked a branch with one hand, swung around, and kicked off the tree, slashing at them with his sword!
Meng Qianqian, Female grabbed the saddle, leaned down, and lifted Liu Qingyun onto the horse.
“Leave it to you.”
Meng Qianqian, Female said to Cui Hu, “Stay alive.”
“Understood!”
Young Lady!
He had thought the Young Lady was skilled at saving people, but he never imagined she could be so ruthless in battle.
The ferocity and dominance of that moment sent shivers down his spine.
His admiration for her grew exponentially.
He decided that from now on, no one else would do. He, Cui Hu, would recognize only Yan Girl as his Young Lady!
Meng Qianqian gripped the reins and urged her horse forward.
She sheathed her weapon, tucking it into the scabbard on her back.
Then, she freed one hand to check Liu Qingyun’s pulse. "Mother, you’ve been injured internally."
"An internal injury..."
Liu Qingyun pressed a hand to her chest. "I knew something was off."
She had a soul venom, which made her immune to most poisons.
"But wait, I wasn’t wearing the soft armor my mother gave me..."
She recalled the events in the house, her eyes darkening. "It was that palm strike."
Her opponent had clashed with her, sending internal energy into her body.
Meng Qianqian reached into her pouch and pulled out a bottle of medicine. "Mother, take this wound medicine first."
"Alright."
Liu Qingyun took the bottle and swallowed a pill.
She wiped the blood from her mouth, panting. "At least it wasn’t for nothing."
"Was it the Miao Borderlanders?"
Meng Qianqian asked.
She didn’t blame Liu Qingyun for the dangerous move.
She seemed to understand that Liu Qingyun would do anything for her son, even if it meant risking her life.
"Yes."
Liu Qingyun leaned against Meng Qianqian, trying to recover some of her internal energy as quickly as possible. "He hid his face and voice, but he forgot to mask his scent. How about that? I’m still pretty reliable in a pinch, right?"
Meng Qianqian, while looking for a way out, praised her earnestly. "Yes, you’re so amazing, inheriting your mother’s wisdom."
Liu Qingyun was pleased. "You know how to speak well."
Meng Qianqian pulled on the reins, stopping the horse.
Liu Qingyun forced her eyes open. "Are we lost? I’ve tried many times, but I can never leave this village."
Meng Qianqian looked around. "It’s a formation."
"You know formations?"
Liu Qingyun was surprised.
Meng Qianqian thought for a moment. "I should."
What did she mean by "should"? Did this girl not even know if she understood formations?
Could it be that she had learned but forgotten?
And then, for the first time, she remembered?
Liu Qingyun was thoroughly confused.
Meng Qianqian untied her headband and blindfolded herself.
Liu Qingyun was puzzled. "What are you doing?"
Meng Qianqian focused her energy. "Leaving the formation."
Without her sight, her hearing was amplified. She listened to the whispers of the night wind, the chirping of insects, the rustling of leaves.
She tugged the reins.
"Three steps in Kun."
"Nine steps in Li."
"Two in Qian."
"Six in Li."
"Five in Zhen."
She recited the incantations, riding the white horse through the maze of the formation.
Liu Qingyun was bewildered. "Isn’t this Ji Li’s technique? Does this girl know it too?"
Is there anything this girl doesn’t know?
"We’re out."
Meng Qianqian untied the blindfold.
Liu Qingyun looked back at the village shrouded in mist, unable to believe they had escaped so easily.
Meng Qianqian looked ahead. "But, it might have been better if we hadn’t come out."
Liu Qingyun focused her gaze and saw a row of killers wearing bronze masks, standing twenty paces away, their crossbows aimed at them.
She asked weakly, "Daughter-in-law, can we... go back into the village?"
Meng Qianqian looked back. "I don’t think so."
Liu Qingyun heard the sound of crossbows being drawn.
They were surrounded.
"What are our chances of escaping?"
Meng Qianqian held up five fingers.
Liu Qingyun whispered, "Fifty percent?"
Meng Qianqian’s hand formed a fist.
Zero percent.
Liu Qingyun felt like crying.
Son, your mother and your wife are really going to die here—
