Chapter 513: Who's Speaking?!
Chapter 513: Who’s Speaking?!
Fortunately, there were other ways to earn extra credits besides academic subjects.
By the time I bond with my fourth familiar, with the Golden Finger, it should be no problem to cultivate it to the Advanced stage within half a year.
According to the usual credit system at Sai Nan High School, evolving a Basic Familiar to an Intermediate Familiar earns 20 credits, and evolving an Intermediate Familiar to an Advanced Familiar earns 100 credits.
I should have at least 120 credits, plus the 94 credits I already have, totaling 214 credits. I only need… only need 786 more credits… Thinking of this, Qiao Sang felt a chill run down his spine.
Sigh, I wonder how many credits the school will give for the Brain Domain breakthrough tomorrow…
…
Sai Nan High School, Administrative Building, Ninth Floor Conference Room.
On both sides of the long conference table sat nine senior officials, all of whom were present.
At the head of the table was a middle-aged man in his forties. Though his appearance was unremarkable, he exuded an indescribable air of nobility.
"How many credits do you think would be appropriate?" the middle-aged man asked slowly.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss Qiao Sang’s credit issue.
As soon as he finished speaking, the previously quiet conference room came alive with the opinions of the senior officials.
"1000 credits, how about that? She’s a prodigy with a 39% Brain Domain at the age of 15", said a man with black hair and a chiseled face.
"No, Qiao Sang isn’t from our Supernest. Giving her 1000 credits would be telling all the students that they’re not as good as an exchange student from Blue Star", a black elderly man countered.
"That’s true, even in the entire Supernest high school system, there’s no 15-year-old with a 39% Brain Domain", a blonde woman with blue eyes and light makeup shrugged.
The blonde man next to her ignored her and glanced at the black-haired man who had spoken first, his tone displeased.
"Don’t just talk nonsense because she’s from the Dragon Nation like you. You can’t just throw out 1000 credits like that."
The black-haired man smiled at him.
"What, do you think 1000 credits are too little? How about 2000 then?"
"You!" The blonde man slammed his hand on the table.
"Sit down, I didn’t come here to watch a fight", said the red-haired young man sitting next to the head of the table, his tone calm.
The blonde man huffed and sat down angrily.
The conference room fell silent for a moment.
After a few seconds, a stern-looking brunette woman spoke up.
"I think 300 credits are enough. Our school emphasizes all-around abilities. If a Brain Domain credit reward surpasses the efforts of other students over three years, what will they think?"
A black-haired woman beside her added, "A student who breaks through to 20% Brain Domain gets 200 credits. The difficulty of reaching 30% is clear to everyone. Isn’t 300 credits too meager?"
The blonde man immediately said, "It can’t be 1000 credits! Giving 1000 credits is like handing out two rare resources!"
"I agree. She’s just an exchange student, not even from Supernest."
"It’s not about whether she’s from Supernest. Even if she were, 1000 credits are too much."
"1000 credits are too many, 300 credits are too few. I think we can find a middle ground", the black-haired woman said slowly. "How about 500 credits? I remember there’s an SS-Class Water Evolution Stone in the exchange vault, which costs exactly 500 credits. First, it shows we value her achievement. Second, we can search for more resources like this if needed. Third, 500 credits won’t knock the top students off the credit leaderboard."
The other senior officials nodded in agreement with her suggestion.
At that moment, the young man with red hair said:
"I have no objections to the Credits, but I want that Blue Star Exchange Student to test her brain domain in front of me again."
"Of course, we all want to meet a student who has developed her brain domain to 39% by the age of 15, even if she’s not from our Supernest", the elderly black man smiled. "I’ve already instructed the School Doctor to invite her over tomorrow."
The middle-aged man leading the group asked:
"Does anyone have any objections?"
The meeting room remained silent for a while.
The middle-aged man spoke calmly, without haste:
"Since no one has any objections, this matter is decided."
...
7:00 AM.
Lulu cast a Healing Light, and the dark circles under Qiao Sang's eyes from staying up all night vanished instantly.
After a quick wash and breakfast, she took Fangy and the others to the open Training Field as the School Doctor had instructed.
The Training Field was vast, comparable to four football fields, and there were no adjacent teaching buildings around, so no matter how much noise they made, it wouldn't disturb the students' classes.
"You train well here. I'll summon you back when school is over", Qiao Sang said to Fangy and Lulu.
"Icechill."
Lulu nodded.
"Ya Ya?"
Fangy looked around the area, seeming satisfied, then it seemed to remember something and called out, "Where's the Treasure Seeker?"
"Xunxun..."
Treasure Seeker looked at her with a piteous expression, as if it wanted to go to school too...
"Ya Ya?"
Fangy already knew from yesterday that Treasure Seeker needed to go to school, but it was asking if it had to go every day.
"Xun?!"
Treasure Seeker's expression turned to a Scary Face.
Every day?!
It had never thought about that!
Qiao Sang, with a serious face, said, "Of course not. There are weekends and holidays, and once I graduate, Treasure Seeker won't need to go to school anymore."
"Xun..."
Treasure Seeker patted its chest, relieved. It had been scared for a moment.
After saying goodbye to Fangy and Lulu, Qiao Sang left with Treasure Seeker.
"Fangy..."
On the Training Field, Fangy watched Qiao Sang's back until she was out of sight. Fangy's expression turned melancholic, and its tail drooped.
Lulu glanced at Fangy and then began to sing:
"Ice~ Ice ice~ Ice ice ice~ Ice~ Ice ice~"
Invisible sound waves rippled out.
Fangy's tail slowly returned to its usual position, not touching the ground.
"Icechill?"
Lulu called out, signaling that it was time to train.
"Ya."
Fangy's expression was calm.
Let's train.
...
On the other side, Qiao Sang and Treasure Seeker walked through several buildings, following the directions given by the Class Teacher to a small forest.
It was more like a park, with lush greenery and many small familiars visible.
From the ID Bracelets on their claws, it was clear that these were not wild beast companions.
Some of the familiars were dressed in ornate clothing and moved with elegance.
Treasure Seeker looked around curiously.
Suddenly, its gaze fixed on a white lace glove on the claw of an egg-shaped familiar.
"Xunxun!"
After staring for a couple of seconds, Treasure Seeker turned to Qiao Sang and extended its claws.
Gloves! It had forgotten to buy its Diamond Gauntlet!
Oh right... Qiao Sang looked embarrassed and was about to say something.
Suddenly, the familiars around them started running around in panic.
Qiao Sang sensed something and turned around.
She saw a bipedal familiar, about two meters tall, with a purple body and a white stripe across its face, approaching.
"Are you a new student? Let me see... Ghost Ring Specter, you have five minutes before class starts. You should hurry."
Qiao Sang: "!!!"
Who?!
Who was talking?!
