Chapter 513: The Cursed Hospital (Eleven)
Chapter 513: The Cursed Hospital (Eleven)
Not long after leaving the Pediatrics Consultation Room, Feng Bu Jue arrived at the dining hall. The illumination devices here were complete, and the Light was much brighter than in the corridor. A single glance revealed the entire Space at once.
Although the dining hall covered a considerable area, its layout gave off a ten points cramped feeling. All the tables and chairs were tightly arranged, with the chairs welded to the tables. The gaps between each table were just wide enough for a single person to squeeze through.
The food distribution counter connected directly to the kitchen and was located on the east side of the dining hall. On the west side was a passage where several Vending Machines and some trash cans were placed. At the north and south ends were exits connecting to Building A and Building B on the first floor of the Hospital.
After spending some time exploring, Feng Bu Jue had begun to notice an issue... Aside from the disorienting Space of the corridor and the completely nonexistent "Room 125", all the rooms in this Hospital carried a subtle sense of disharmony. To summarize it in one sentence: "There's no extra Space anywhere." It was as if the building had been crammed with too many rooms, making every room's layout feel constrained and inconvenient.
"You're really slow", a familiar voice suddenly reached Feng Bu Jue's ears.
Feng Bu Jue quickly turned his head and saw... a hulking figure emerging from the kitchen. It had the head of a pig but the body of a man, radiating a murderous aura.
"You..." Feng Bu Jue's expression shifted slightly. "Why are you here?"
"Why wouldn't I be here?" Ouink replied, quickly closing the distance.
At this moment, Feng Bu Jue suddenly noticed... Ouink was holding a chef's knife in his hand.
"What do you want?" Feng Bu Jue quickly jumped back and pulled out his folding knife in preparation for resistance.
"Don't be so jumpy, Mad Bu Jue", Ouink responded. "You're currently using Lester's body. If I really wanted to strike you down, you wouldn't even be able to put up a fight." By the time he finished speaking, he had already reached Feng Bu Jue's side.
Feng Bu Jue wasn't surprised that Ouink could see through his physical form. During their previous meeting, he had already determined that Ouink was uniqueness data, so possessing this kind of ability was perfectly normal. However, at this moment, Feng Bu Jue truly didn't know why Ouink had appeared or... what his purpose was this time.
"I'm just here to deliver something to you", Ouink continued.
Before his words had finished, Ouink flipped the knife in his hand and extended the handle toward Feng Bu Jue.
Feng Bu Jue hesitated slightly before reaching out to accept the weapon.
The moment the item touched his hand, he quickly began examining it:
[Name: Must-Break Armor Blade]
[Type: Weapon]
[Quality: Flawless]
[Attack Power: ???]
[Attribute: None]
[Special Effect: When the target being slashed (including players, monsters, Npcs) has a defense rating of "Strong" or higher (in some cases determined by the slashed area), this blade's attack power will always be judged as 0.1 higher than the target's defense]
[Equipment Condition: Martial Arts Proficiency A, Soulbound on Equip]
[Can Be Taken Out of Scenario: Yes]
[Background: In its normal state, this is a dull blade that can't cut through anything. But when necessary, it can sever everything.]
After finishing reading the item description, Feng Bu Jue excitedly looked at Ouink and thanked him with his signature humor: "Second Senior Brother! Your great kindness..."
"Be more serious when you're thanking me!" Ouink roared as he slapped Feng Bu Jue.
Feng Bu Jue was sent flying by the slap, completing two and a half mid-air flips before landing. Unfortunately, he landed right on the blade of the chef's knife.
Two seconds later, he jumped back up, immediately shouting: "Even I..."
"If you dare say 'not even my father has ever hit me,' I'll slap you again", Ouink interrupted.
"Tch..." Feng Bu Jue spat with displeasure, muttering, "Trying to stifle my sarcasm... Just you wait until I run you through with a blade..." The thought had barely formed when he suddenly realized—if he hadn’t been injured even after falling onto the blade just now, then at worst he should only feel slightly annoyed...
"Did you roughly understand this blade's characteristics just now?" Ouink seemed to discern something from Feng Bu Jue's eyes. He continued, "Actually, this is a modified version of the kitchen knife you gave me back then. Now it's being returned to its rightful owner."
"Mm..." Feng Bu Jue pondered for a few seconds after hearing this. "Say... Brother Ou, we're not related by blood or marriage. Why would you..."
"Didn't I just tell you?" Ouink interrupted. "I'm only here to deliver something to you."
Feng Bu Jue's expression changed: "Oh? So you're saying... you were sent by someone?"
"That's right", Ouink replied. "The blade in your hand was personally modified by Zhuan Jie Zun. He was the one who asked me to bring it to you."
Feng Bu Jue immediately thought to himself: "Sudden acts of kindness without reason are usually suspicious..."
However, he remained outwardly composed, replying in his usual flippant tone: "So? Is Zhuan Jie Zun trying to win me over?"
"You could say that", Ouink said. "To quote his exact words: 'Mad Bu Jue responds better to soft approaches than hard ones. Giving him some benefits will help facilitate communication.'"
"Heh..." Feng Bu Jue scoffed. "Then I'm sure he asked you to deliver some message to me as well?"
"Just one sentence", Ouink said as he reached into his pants pocket. Sure enough, he pulled out a key and extended it toward Feng Bu Jue. "Take this."
Feng Bu Jue didn't think much of it—whatever Ouink handed him, he simply accepted.
[Name: Blood Bank Key]
[Type: Plot-Related]
[Quality: Common]
[Function: Opens the Blood Bank door]
[Can Be Taken Out of Scenario]
[Background: For some reason, this item ended up in a chef's possession.]
"I have to ask..." Feng Bu Jue looked up at Ouink. "You're not actually part of this Hospital staff, are you?"
"No."
"Then how did you get this key?"
"I took it from the Hospital's chef", Ouink replied.
"Uh..." Feng Bu Jue asked this question while already having a very ominous suspicion forming in his mind. "What happened to the chef here?"
"He's currently stewing in a pot", Ouink said. "A while back, you could have eaten that pot of food in the kitchen to immediately restore yourself to full condition."
"Heh... heh heh..." Feng Bu Jue's lips twitched. "Th-thank you."
After saying this, Ouink prepared to leave. But just as he was turning around, he seemed to remember something else and said, "Oh, right—if you're looking to store that blade, better put it in your dimensional pocket..."
He paused slightly, his eyes changing slightly. "The Space you're currently in... it might be a bit different from what you're imagining."
"Uh... my satchel has already been locked", Feng Bu Jue admitted bluntly.
"What a hassle..." Ouink shook his head, stepped forward, and snatched the chef's knife. He then forcefully stabbed it into Feng Bu Jue's chest diagonally.
The next second... the item was actually forced into Feng Bu Jue's satchel.
"Woah!" Feng Bu Jue's eyes lit up. "Brother Ou! Could you help me take some things out?"
"Absolutely not", Ouink answered decisively. "Goodbye." With that, he turned and left.
Feng Bu Jue didn't intend to keep pestering the other, because the back view of this "Heavenly Butcher" seemed to be declaring something— "Come any closer and I'll beat you again."
After Ouink left, Feng Bu Jue didn't rush to the Vending Machine to obtain the task item. Instead, he went to the kitchen first.
This time, he was more cautious. To prevent triggering the room's collapse phenomenon after obtaining a story item, he decided to investigate the environment first before finally retrieving the Chilled Beer.
"Whoa~ What happened here?" The moment Feng Bu Jue entered the kitchen, he saw blood and entrails splattered across the walls and floor.
On the cooking station not far from him sat a white wolf head. This white wolf's face had some humanoid features, seemingly a werewolf-type creature. But its body was missing... Or perhaps... currently stewing in the pot.
After thinking for a few seconds, Feng Bu Jue quickly understood the general situation here.
"Ah... This must be the Hospital dining hall's chef", Feng Bu Jue mused. "So... the two original events here should have been 'exchanging candy for the Blood Bank Key' and 'using a Meal Card to get a meal that restores health.' And now Ouink has saved me from both steps using brute force."
Realizing this, Feng Bu Jue immediately slammed the table and let out a ferocious roar: "Then why in the world did I eat that Moldy Sandwich? Why? Why!"
After venting his frustration, he could only give up and lifted the lid of the pot to start eating the meat soup that had once been the White Wolf Tribe chef...
Regardless of anything else, this wolf meat soup (though he would consider it wolf meat for now) had been freshly prepared using fresh ingredients. Compared to the sandwich that had been left god-knows-how-long, it was much better.
Furthermore, Ouink's cooking skills weren't bad either—what he prepared wasn't at all unpleasant to eat. Of course, even if it had been truly terrible, it wouldn't have mattered much to Feng Bu Jue.
After eating some of the meat soup, Feng Bu Jue's survival and stamina values were fully restored.
Then, he proceeded to search the kitchen and dining hall.
Besides pots, pans, and other cooking utensils, the kitchen naturally contained knives as well. Even common kitchen knives were superior to the folding knife in Feng Bu Jue's pocket, so he casually chose one for self-defense.
However, that was all he found. After searching thoroughly, he couldn't locate anything else of value.
Therefore, Feng Bu Jue finally arrived at the Vending Machine, pulling out the Monster Kingdom Coin from his pocket.
"Wait a second..." He hesitated as he was about to insert the coin. "Right now, what I'll get is definitely the Chilled Beer, but if it sits in my pocket for too long, won't it just become room temperature?"
