Chapter 513: Avenger
Chapter 513: Avenger
“Oh? Seems like cannon fire won’t do much.”
Wald scoffed, sweeping his massive hand upward to hurl Jack the Disaster off his shoulder.
“Wald!”
Jack the Disaster crashed onto the ground, groaning in pain as he stared up at his towering younger brother.
“Watch the ship.”
Wald snorted coldly, grabbing a nearby blade. He leapt into the air, his body generating a shockwave beneath his feet as he surged forward.
Moonstep!
“Momo Hundredfold Speed!”
Boom!
As his foot struck the air, a shockwave rippled outward, and his figure transformed into a wispy afterimage, streaking across the sky.
With Hundredfold Speed amplifying his Moonstep, he moved faster than ever, zipping past Hawk-Eye on his boat and heading straight for Kuro.
In an instant, he loomed over Kuro, blade raised, targeting both the pirate below and the island behind him.
“Momo·Hundredfold Slash!”
The sword suddenly expanded in his grip, stretching over a hundred meters long, and cleaved downward like a thunderbolt.
The blade’s speed remained at Hundredfold intensity, shocking even Kuro.
“Bastard!”
Kuro instantly unsheathed Autumn Water, slashing upward at the colossal blade.
Clang!
Upon contact, the blade sliced through the Autumn Water like tofu, a segment of the massive blade snapping off and hurtling backward.
Though the blade had grown, its mass hadn’t changed. Without Haki reinforcement, this oversized weapon was trivial to Kuro.
“Back at you!”
Kuro extended his palm, touching the broken blade. It reversed direction and rocketed toward the towering man above.
“Return.”
Wald deactivated his ability, causing the severed blade to shrink back to normal size.
Clang!
The blade struck Wald’s Haki-infused hand. He clenched his fist, catching the weapon and crushing it into fragments.
Whoosh!
In one motion, Wald hurled the broken blade in his right hand and the iron shards in his left toward Kuro.
“Momo·Hundredfold!”
The shards and blade fragments expanded mid-flight, accelerating toward Kuro at blinding speed.
Too fast. Even for Kuro, this speed rivaled Garp’s or his own.
“Lion Bite!”
As Wald threw the debris, Kuro swung Autumn Water, unleashing a howling gust that shredded the enlarged objects into pieces, scattering them like rain.
Bang!
Suddenly, a wispy afterimage materialized before him. A massive fist slammed into Kuro’s face, sending him rocketing backward like a cannonball into Shabondy’s coastline, kicking up a cloud of dust.
“Kuro!” Lida shouted.
Wald bounced on the air, smirking malevolently at the smoke. “Pathetic.”
Hmph!
As he spoke, the dust scattered. Kuro stood firm, Autumn Water in hand, glaring at Wald in the sky.
His face gleamed with Armament Haki, tear streaks beneath his eyes, a dark purple cross-shaped mark on his brow, and his wrists armored in Haki.
Full Armor.
“You’re not giving up, huh?” Kuro gritted his teeth. “Why chase me?”
He frowned. The Black Blade user had already sailed past—why wasn’t Wald chasing him instead?
“Heh.” Wald tightened his fist, grinning wickedly. “Just wanted to test how strong you brats are after defeating Lucius and eating Shanks’ Devil Fruit.”
He didn’t know Shanks was dead, but the Float-Float Fruit’s power was clearly active on Kuro.
Wald knew both well.
Back then, Dracule Mihawk was just twelve when Wald rose to fame—hardly a name yet. Naturally, he’d target someone intriguing.
Now, Kuro studied Wald’s face.
A rugged man in a broken-horned helmet, styled like a Viking, with a messy ink-green beard and a toothless grin. His eyes were gloomy, his aura that of a sinister middle-aged man.
Frozen for thirty years, he looked fifty in body, but his essence was that of an old man.
A jarring mix—anything but youthful.
“Even after thirty years on ice, you’re still causing trouble.”
Kuro flicked Autumn Water, launching a wispy slash. Wald sidestepped it effortlessly.
“Old men should hike or travel, not pick fights. You’ll die faster this way, you know!”
Kuro growled, “You old bastard!”
Again, these ancient pests targeted his face. Silvers Rayleigh, this Wald—neither respected his handsome looks.
Even with Armament Haki, that punch hurt. Hundredfold Speed wasn’t a joke.
Garp always said speed was strength, and Kuro agreed.
This geezer’s raw power was high, and with Hundredfold Speed, the impact was monstrous.
He was their kind—yet his destructive power surpassed even Kuro and Garp.
A Hundredfold-sized cannonball at Hundredfold speed? Shabondy would vanish in one shot.
This guy wasn’t bluffing about destroying Mariejois—he had the might to do it.
Wald sneered down at Kuro. “Little brat, Jack the Disaster said you’re strong, but you’re disappointing. You think you can protect Mariejois? Is the Navy out of men? Where are Sengoku and Garp? Let those despicable cowards face me!”
“Despicable?” Kuro scoffed. “A pirate calling the Navy despicable?”
Hmph!
Wald ignored him, glaring at the Red Line above Shabondy. “If they won’t come, I’ll destroy Mariejois first—then settle scores!”
Thirty years ago, Wald once respected Sengoku and Garp.
But after the Warlder Sea Battle, his view changed.
The Navy—no, the world—was despicable.
Now, he was the Avenger.
(Happy New Year, everyone.)
