Chapter 512: Operation 2 with Sirius Black
Wade paused mid-motion, turning to look at Sirius Black, then handed him his wand. “You do it.”
“What?” Sirius Black asked.
“Confusion Charm, Muggle-Repelling Charm—whatever spell you want. Make that man take his entire family back to the Family Depart camp, and keep them away for the next few days,” Wade said.
Sirius Black considered the request for a moment, then glanced at the dazed expression on the Muggle Administrator’s face. Without questioning why, he raised his wand and pointed.
A second later, the Muggle man jumped up as if his backside had been set on fire, spun around, and bolted away at full speed.
The Lantern Pants Wizard saw the whole thing but didn’t care. Forgetting Charm only made Muggles forget the strange occurrences within the camp—it couldn’t erase their basic needs, like needing to use the restroom.
Once the Muggle had disappeared into the distance, Wade and Sirius Black turned back toward the center of the camp.
After a long silence, Sirius Black finally let out a bitter laugh. “I had an instinct that I was nothing like my family, but now I realize… I’m just as arrogant as they are.”
He looked around at the countless wizards scattered across the camp and added, “Everyone here… they all carry that same sense of superiority.”
Wade gave him a puzzled look. “Why suddenly say that?”
“Using Forgetting Charm too often causes real harm to the brain. We all know that. But only you wanted to help them,” Sirius Black said, his tone heavy with quiet awe. “Come on. Let’s find the next one.”
“The next one?” Wade stopped in his tracks. “There’s more than one Muggle Administrator?”
“Of course,” Sirius Black said. “Muggles can’t fly. How could one person possibly keep watch over such a vast area? The first camp is managed by Roberts—the one we just sent away. The second is Paine. The third is apparently Gibson… there should be six in total.”
Wade felt a chill run through him. He was deeply relieved he’d run into Sirius Black when he left the house.
He’d been brought directly by Remus Lupin, and his knowledge of the original story was limited to the fact that there was a Muggle Administrator whose wife and child lived nearby—after the event, the entire family had been taken by masked Death Eaters and used for sport.
If Sirius Black hadn’t been there, Wade would’ve only sent one Muggle Administrator away. The others would still be vulnerable—exposed to the Dark Wizards. The outcome? Nothing would have changed.
Together, the two of them made a circuit around the area, quietly and carefully sending every nearby Muggle away. They didn’t stop until the last family piled into their car and roared off, vanishing into the distance—while the Ministry of Magic remained blissfully unaware.
Or perhaps some Ministry staff were even secretly hoping the Muggles would leave. With the final event approaching, the number of wizards in the camp was skyrocketing, and it was becoming impossible to hide the magical phenomena.
In truth, the Muggle Administrators had been useless all along—just decorative figures stationed at the entrances.
Yet, to preserve their worldview, Ministry staff had to constantly handle emergencies and cast the Forgetting Charm on each Muggle administrator over a dozen times a day. It was torture for both sides.
And so, with tacit approval and quiet complicity from some, all the Muggles vanished without a trace.
Over half an hour passed before someone inside the Ministry “suddenly noticed” the Muggle Administrators were missing—and began filing reports.
“Is this your spare wand?” Sirius Black turned the wand in his hand, then handed it back. “Use it more often for small spells like Scourgify. That way, no one inside can use a Scrying Charm to monitor us.”
“I know,” Wade said. “But this isn’t over—we still have to find someone else.”
“Who?”
“Lucius Malfoy’s right-hand man—Crabbe, the one known as Grove Crabbe.”
Just like Draco and Crabbe, the relationship between the elder Crabbe and Lucius Malfoy had grown strained ever since the younger Crabbe was injured. The Malfoy family trusted only those loyal to the Crabbe household—though the Crabbes themselves seemed barely capable of thought, their lack of brains was a kind of advantage. At least they wouldn’t betray anyone.
So whatever Lucius Malfoy was planning, Grove Crabbe was almost certainly in on it.
And the Crabbes were easy targets. They were loud, flashy, and brash—too conspicuous to go unnoticed. But in a camp full of wizards, their existence was low enough to remain undetected.
“During the earlier matches, I saw Lucius Malfoy whispering with a group of people—everyone who looked like suspected Death Eaters. I doubt they’re just here to watch. They’re planning something.”
Wade tossed the wand back to Sirius Black and pulled out another spare. He’d bought three old wands at once, and now they were all being put to use.
Sirius Black snorted. “Those people are full of malice. If they’re stirring up trouble, I don’t doubt it for a second.”
Narcissa Malfoy was Sirius Black’s cousin, though their families had long been estranged. Still, Sirius kept an eye on the Malfoy tent’s location.
Soon, Wade spotted a tent that looked like a palace—covered in striped silk, its entrance tied with several live peacocks.
A bit further ahead, they found the Crabbe family’s tent: a squat, cylindrical tower with a gray, dusty spire, like a lighthouse. In front of it, a large campfire burned, and Crabbe sat crouched beside it, eagerly roasting a few meat skewers.
Wade and Sirius Black silently moved around to the back of a four-story tent, cast a Disguise Charm together, and seconds later stepped out—walking casually into the Crabbe tent as if they belonged.
The squat boy on the ground scratched his face, completely unaware.
On the first floor, a plump witch was using her wand to direct kitchen utensils through a washing cycle.
On the second floor, they found Grove Crabbe—lying sprawled on a sofa, watching a streaming mirror showing a romantic movie. His eyes were slightly red, as if he were on the verge of tears.
“Stupefy!”
The Stunning Spell hit him squarely. His head snapped to the side, and he slumped unconscious. Sirius Black quickly produced several ropes and bound him tightly.
“Take him away, or interrogate him here?” Sirius Black asked. “If we make too much noise, I’m worried someone’ll notice.”
“No need for all that,” Wade said, pulling out a small crystal vial. “I brought Veritaserum.”
“…” Sirius Black stared. “How do you have everything? Polyjuice Potion, Veritaserum… those are banned substances. Even in trials, they’re not allowed.”
“I know,” Wade replied calmly. “But… do you want to use it?”
“Of course I do!”
Sirius Black pried open Crabbe’s mouth, and Wade carefully dripped the potion into his throat.
