Chapter 512: Acting with Sirius 2
Chapter 512: Acting with Sirius 2
Wade paused, turned to look at Sirius, and handed him the wand. "You do it."
"What?" Sirius asked.
"Confundus Charm, Muggle Repelling Charm, or any other spell—just get that man and his family to leave the camp and not come back for a few days", Wade said.
Sirius pondered Wade's request for a moment, glanced at the dazed expression on the Muggle supervisor's face, and without asking why, raised his wand and pointed.
A moment later, the Muggle man jumped up as if his pants were on fire, turned, and ran off.
The wizard in the lantern trousers saw this but paid it no mind—the Obliviate spell only erased the Muggle's memory of the camp's magical occurrences; it couldn't erase his need to use the bathroom.
Once the Muggle had run far enough away, Wade and Sirius turned and walked back.
Sirius was silent for a long time before he finally said with a bitter laugh, "I always thought I was different from my family, but now I realize I'm just as arrogant as they are."
He looked around at the countless wizards in the camp and said, "All these people are the same... they all have a condescending attitude deep down."
Wade gave him a puzzled look. "Why say that now?"
"Frequent use of the Obliviate spell can damage a person's brain, and we all know it, but only you want to help them", Sirius said with a sigh. "Let's go, we need to find the next one."
"The next one?" Wade stopped in his tracks. "There's more than one Muggle supervisor in the camp?"
"Of course", Sirius said. "Muggles can't fly, and this place is huge. One Muggle can't possibly manage it all. The supervisor for the first campsite was Roberts, the one we just sent away. The second is Paine, and the third is Gibson... I think there are six in total."
Hearing this, Wade felt a chill of fear and was immensely relieved that he had run into Sirius.
He had been brought here directly by Lupin, and his knowledge of the original story only extended to the fact that there was a Muggle supervisor whose wife and children lived nearby. After the match, the masked Death Eaters used the family for their twisted entertainment.
If not for Sirius, Wade would have only sent one Muggle supervisor away, and the others could still have been found by the Dark Wizards, leaving everything unchanged.
Next, the two of them circled the area, secretly sending all the Muggles away. By the time the last family got in their car and drove off, the Ministry of Magic was still slow to react.
Or perhaps some of the staff were secretly hoping the Muggles would leave entirely. With the final match approaching, the number of wizards in the camp was growing, and the various magical phenomena were impossible to hide.
The Muggle supervisors were of no real help in managing the camp; they were just decorative figures at the entrance.
To maintain their worldview, Ministry employees had to deal with various emergencies and cast the Obliviate spell on the Muggles multiple times a day, a torment for both sides.
So, with some tacit approval and cover-ups, all the Muggles were successfully sent away. It wasn't until half an hour later that someone "suddenly noticed" the Muggle supervisors were missing and began reporting up the chain of command.
...
"This is your spare wand, right?" Sirius twirled the wand in his hand and handed it back to Wade. "Use it to cast cleaning spells and other minor spells more often, just in case someone uses Priori Incantatem to check."
"I understand, but this isn't over yet—we still need to find someone."
"Who?"
"Lucius Malfoy's sidekick, Goyle, specifically Grov Goyle", Ved said.
Just like the strained relationship between Draco and Crabbe, after Crabbe's injury, his father, Big Crabbe, also developed a rift with Lucius Malfoy.
The Malfoys trusted the Goyle family more—although the Goyles seemed to lack intelligence, being dim-witted had its advantages. At least, there was little worry about them betraying anyone.
So, if Lucius Malfoy was planning something, Grov Goyle would likely know about it.
Moreover, the Malfoys were flashy and arrogant, drawing too much attention. The Goyles, on the other hand, were easy targets with a low profile.
"During the match, I saw Lucius Malfoy secretly conferring with some people, and those people were all suspected Death Eaters. I suspect they're planning to do something during this tournament."
Ved tossed his wand to Sirius and took out another backup wand.
He had initially bought three used wands, and now they were all proving useful.
Sirius sneered, "Those guys are full of mischief. I don't doubt for a second that they're planning something."
Narcissa Malfoy was Sirius's cousin, and although their families had drifted apart, Sirius still kept an eye on their tent's location.
Soon, Ved spotted a palace-like tent adorned with striped silk, and even a few live peacocks were tethered at the entrance.
A bit further ahead, they found the Goyle family's tent, which looked like a lighthouse with a cylindrical tower and a grayish dome. In front of the tent, a large bonfire was built, and Goyle was squatting beside it, eagerly roasting some meat skewers.
Ved and Sirius silently moved to the back of a nearby four-story tent and cast the Disillusionment Charm on themselves. A few seconds later, they walked confidently past Goyle and into the tent.
The squat, chubby boy scratched his face but noticed nothing.
On the first floor, a plump witch was using her wand to direct the kitchen utensils to clean.
On the second floor, they easily found Grov Goyle—spread out on a sofa, watching a romantic movie in a moving mirror, his eyes slightly red, as if he was about to cry from being moved.
"Stupefy!"
Grov Goyle was hit by the Stunning Spell and slumped unconscious. Sirius then conjured several ropes to bind him tightly.
"Should we take him or interrogate him here?" Sirius asked, "If he makes too much noise, I'm worried it might draw attention."
"That's not necessary", Ved said, pulling out a crystal vial. "I brought Veritaserum."
"..." Sirius: "How do you have all these potions? Polyjuice Potion, Veritaserum... these are all restricted! They're not even allowed during trials."
"I know", Ved replied calmly. "Do you want to use it?"
"Of course... use it!"
Sirius pried open Goyle's mouth, and Ved dripped the potion in.
