Having discovered the correct way to navigate the Sprite World, You Xuan felt a little less anxious. He pondered his entry through the stone tablet in the ruins, but upon arriving, he couldn't spot anything resembling a tablet or a door nearby.
So, how was he going to get back?
He turned to his sprite and asked, "Silence, what do you think?"
The silent magician shook her head, seemingly clueless. After all, the Sprite World was vast, and although it was collectively called the Sprite World, it was divided into numerous different dimensions. This particular dimension didn't seem familiar to her. However, she tilted her head in thought and then pointed towards a spot not far from the small hill they were standing on.
You Xuan followed her gaze and noticed what appeared to be a town in the distance.
"I see," he mused. "Should we ask the locals for information?"
Indeed, there didn't seem to be a better option at the moment. In the anime, the general populace of the Sprite World tended to be quite friendly, and the locals might know of a way out.
You Xuan made his way down the hill and entered the town. The streets were paved with cobblestones, and the stones along the street bore the mottled marks of time. The buildings were constructed from white brick and stone, with colorful glass windows and intricate totems, patterns, and unrecognizable symbols carved into the walls.
Strangely, there wasn't a single person in sight.
The shops stood lonely with their doors and windows tightly shut. The hanging signboards swayed gently in the breeze, and the wind rustled the fallen leaves, creating a soft rustling sound.
"Is this normal for the Sprite World?" You Xuan asked.
Silence shook her head, her staff tightly gripped in her hand as she remained vigilant. The situation was clearly unusual.
She escorted You Xuan, staying close by his side as they continued forward. After walking for a few minutes, they heard strange noises coming from behind a row of buildings.
Without making a sound, You Xuan slipped into an alley, cautiously approaching the source of the noise and hiding in the shadows to observe. He spotted several tiny sprites running in a panic, and he recognized one of them—a tiny sprite with a huge key slung over its shoulder. In the Duel Monster cards, it was known as the [Heart Key Fairy], a Common with 400 ATK.
Pursuing these sprites were the same kind of black goblins he had encountered earlier. They charged forward, howling and shooting arrows from their bows.
There seemed to be some sort of magic attached to the arrows, as the sprites hit by them let out mournful cries before falling to the ground and instantly transforming into heavy stone slabs with a loud thud.
You Xuan was shocked. Those arrows seemed to have the power to turn their victims into cards!
He couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as he recalled his recent encounter in the forest. He was lucky to have had the upper hand and to have drawn his Holy Barrier card in time.
It seemed that the sprites who had originally lived in this town were under attack by an outside race, and they might have all been turned into stone slabs, explaining why the town appeared deserted.
Silence suddenly became alert, and in a flash, she appeared behind You Xuan to protect him. As he turned, he saw a group of black goblins standing at the entrance of the alley, having appeared there silently.
"Boss, it's him!" one of the goblins squealed, its voice shrill. "It's a duelist! A duelist has intruded on our territory!"
The goblin troupe parted, making way for a strange, masked monster sprite to step forward.
You Xuan had a feeling he had seen this monster before.

It was a monster card used by the Light and Dark Masked Brothers, servants of Malik, in the DM world. It was a Common with 1500 ATK.
However, the sprite's battle prowess was the least of You Xuan's concerns at the moment. What caught his eye was the equipment on the sprite's arm—something similar to a duel disk.
"So, there's another outsider duelist here," the sorcerer sneered. "But since you dared to intrude on the domain of my god, I assume you are prepared to become a sacrifice."
He waved his hand, dismissing his underlings, and then dramatically unfolded his duel disk.
Or rather, while it resembled a duel disk, it felt more organic than the technological disks used in the real world. It seemed to be made of flesh and blood, as if it had grown from the sorcerer's arm itself.
"Only through the ritual of battle can duelists determine the victor. You lackeys, step aside. This one is mine."
"Tch, looks like it's time to duel again," You Xuan muttered.
He knew that duels in the Sprite World were often akin to dark duels—rituals of life and death.

He sent one card from his hand to the Graveyard and then revealed another.

You Xuan searched his Deck and added the card to his hand, then played the next one.
"Normal Summon 'Magical Warrior - Breaker'!"

"When Magical Warrior - Breaker is successfully summoned, I can place one Spell Counter on it, increasing its ATK by 300 points.
But I'll activate its other effect. By removing its Spell Counter, I can destroy your face-down card."
The Magical Warrior swung its sword, sending a magical sword energy blast toward the Sorcerer's back row.
But the Sorcerer simply waved his hand. "Then I activate my face-down card, the Quick-Play Spell, 'Scapegoat.' Special Summon four 'Sheep Tokens' to my field."
Four differently colored lazy sheep appeared on the Sorcerer's field.

The sleepy-looking sheep tokens were no match for the onslaught of the two powerful mages and were promptly blown to smithereens.
"Then I'll set one card in the back row. End turn."
