Chapter 51: The Limited Edition
Chapter 51: The Limited Edition
Conna didn't know why she agreed to Kyle's plan. Perhaps it was because she genuinely needed some Galleons, or maybe it was due to what Kyle said—prove to everyone that you have the ability to survive.
In any case, Conna agreed to it all in a daze.
After dinner, in the Common Room, Kyle, Cedric, and Conna gathered around a table, discussing their business plan for the next day.
"Anyway, with the Weasley brothers helping from Gryffindor, there shouldn't be any problems. The main issue now is with Slytherin."
Kyle turned to Conna and said, "Tomorrow, you'll find an opportunity to meet that... that... Rowle and Axley."
Conna softly reminded him, "Rowle and Axley."
"Oh, right. Those two. You'll find a chance to bump into them and say hello."
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "The corridor on the first floor is a good spot. Hufflepuffs and Slytherins all have to pass through there on their way to the Great Hall, so it's normal to run into each other. Just find any excuse to walk with them."
"Mhm." The young witch nodded, jotting down notes quickly, her expression serious.
After she finished taking notes, Kyle continued, "I'll be in front of you, complaining to Cedric about the complex castle layout and how easy it is to get lost. Then he'll take out the standard map to show off to me."
"At that moment, you need to show disdain for us and take out the limited edition map."
"Disdain?"
Conna paused with her phoenix feather quill, trying out a few expressions... and then Kyle abandoned his initial plan.
"Forget it. Just take out the limited edition map and show it off to them. Tell them that it's a limited edition that's not for sale to the public, and there are only ten of them."
"Remember this line."
"If they ask you later, tell them you have a way to get these maps, and if they want them, you're willing to help as a friend."
"Okay." Conna finished writing down everything and silently memorized it.
At this moment, Cedric asked curiously, "What if they don't ask?"
Kyle shrugged and said, "If they don't ask, we'll just sell it to someone else."
Turning a standard product into a limited edition was Kyle's idea, knowing that the purebloods would fall for it.
Adding Conna to the plan just made it more natural.
Once Rowle and Axley got the map, they would definitely show it off, and they would be the best spokespersons.
If they didn't take the bait, they could just revert to the original plan.
Taking out a limited edition map and distinguishing it from the standard one would attract the attention of the Slytherins.
However, this approach might draw the attention of the professors. Five Galleons was no small amount, and it might get banned before they could sell it.
So, it's better to be discreet. Even if they get caught, it's no big deal; after all, the Galleons are already in their hands, and they can't take them back, right? At most, they'll just lose some House Points.
Hufflepuff doesn't care much about House Points anyway.
After listening to Kyle's explanation, Cedric was completely enlightened.
Is that even possible? He also knew that pureblood families loved things that were different from ordinary products, which was why he had added gold edges to the parchment.
But his original price was just one Galleon.
After Kyle had quintupled the price, he immediately got that familiar taste.
Even if the Slytherin first-years knew about it, they didn't care, because what they truly needed wasn't the map, but the "Limited Edition."
It's not that purebloods are all suckers; they just have money, but they're not stupid, they just have different priorities.
Even Kyle himself had always wanted to get a Phoenix Feather Quill, although there was no difference between it and a regular quill, it was beautiful, and holding it made him feel inspired, so much so that he could write two extra lines of homework.
Cedric smacked his lips and asked, "Kyle, are you sure it's just ten copies?"
"Yeah, just ten," Kyle nodded.
He had inquired, and although there were thirteen first-years in Slytherin, not all of them were wealthy purebloods, so ten copies were just right, and those who didn't buy it would have a face-saving reason.
After confirming this matter, Cedric talked to Kyle about the Quidditch tryouts in the afternoon.
As expected, Fred and George had also joined the House team as Beaters.
In addition, a second-year witch named Elaispine became a reserve player.
"This year's Gryffindor team is definitely a formidable opponent," Cedric said solemnly. "Their team is too good. I've seen Elaispine's training, and her performance is no worse than our Chaser, Matt Blinten, but she can only be a reserve in Gryffindor.
And then there's Oliver Wood, his save rate is the highest among the four goalkeepers. With him on the field, it will be hard for us to gain an advantage."
"Oh, really?" Kyle nonchalantly chimed in from the side, "Then you'll have to step up your game."
Even if Gryffindor's team was strong, he was just a broomless first-year who couldn't get on the field, so he could only cheer a few times during the match.
Cedric didn't notice Kyle's lack of enthusiasm, and then he brought up Slytherin, with the focus being on brooms.
With five Firebolt 1700 brooms, they had a significant advantage.
However, when talking about Ravenclaw, Cedric suddenly paused and then naturally skipped over it.
"We must give our all in every match, without any negligence."
Cedric said seriously, "No one wants to end up with a third-place finish at the end of the term. That's why Harris has increased the weekly team practices from three to five."
As Cedric spoke, his voice rose noticeably, but Conna, sitting next to him, remained unaffected, still staring blankly at the parchment in her hand.
Every time she thought about talking to someone else tomorrow, her heart raced with anxiety, so how could she notice what Cedric was saying?
In fact, when Kyle was discussing the matter earlier, she had countless thoughts of backing out.
But each time the word "back out" reached her lips, a voice in her mind told her not to say it.
Conna didn't know why this was happening, but she ultimately chose to listen to that inner voice.
Before long, Kyle and Cedric yawned and returned to the dormitory.
The Common Room was left with only Conna, still flipping through the parchment.
