Chapter 51: Obtaining the Assassin Legacy
Chapter 51: Obtaining the Assassin Legacy
"Can you send us to the world where you fight Zombies?" Kenvi asked.
"Of course. As a Merchant, my goal is to fulfill the Customer's wishes. However, could you tell me why you didn't choose the ordinary future world? Why did you opt for a world that might have wars? If you don't want to tell me, that's fine too", Liam asked curiously.
Kenvi smiled and replied, "Firstly, from the Plants you showed me and what you said, I understand that you still have connections to the world where Zombies are fought, perhaps even long-term connections. This suggests that the world isn't as bad as it might seem."
"Secondly, it would take a long time to shake off the Wanted status on the Caribbean Island. I believe that the future world will have stricter population censuses, making it difficult for me and my daughter to blend in. In the Plants vs. Zombies world, you, the Shopkeeper, can serve as my sponsor, helping us integrate into that world."
"Thirdly, you know what I'm good at. What could I possibly do in a peaceful world?"
"Lastly, sometimes living people can be more terrifying than the undead. In the world where Zombies are fought, at least I don't have to worry too much about living people. After all, the people in such a world should be more simple and straightforward."
After hearing Kenvi's reasons for choosing the Plants vs. Zombies world, Liam nodded in understanding. "Is there anything else you need to bring? I can give you a few hours to pack. Once you immigrate to another world, it will be difficult to return. When you're done, just think of the name of my Multiverse General Store, and then push open any door to get here."
"I'll be back in an hour", Kenvi said. He then called his daughter over, and they left hand in hand.
Liam watched them leave and resumed observing the fruit on his Mutated Fire Dragon Grass. The fruit was now pulsating like a heart, and Liam felt that it might grow into a completely new and unique variety of Plant.
Half an hour later, a flash of mist appeared at the door, and Kenvi returned with his daughter. He was wearing a leather assassin's hooded cloak, fully armed, and carried a large bundle wrapped in a tablecloth. His daughter also had a small backpack and was holding a teddy bear.
"You were quick!" Liam said, surprised. He hadn't expected that a complete relocation could be done in just half an hour.
"Actually, due to safety concerns, I always keep everything ready to move at a moment's notice. So, most things were already prepared, and I just needed to pack them up", Kenvi explained.
Afterward, Liam and Kenvi signed a Contract on a parchment. The terms were that Kenvi would share all his knowledge with Liam as payment, and Liam would transport them to the Plants vs. Zombies world.
After signing the Contract, a wisp of blood-red mist floated from Kenvi's head and transformed into a thick red book that landed on the bookshelf. The title on the book was "Kenvi's Assassin Creed."
Seeing the book, Liam nodded and then wrote something on a blank piece of paper, handing it to Kenvi.
"Dave is the leader of that world and one of my best partners. This is a letter to Dave, introducing you and asking him to take care of you. I've also mentioned that you can stay in my house temporarily, as I rarely live there, and it would be better to have it used. Finally, please convey my regards to him."
Kenvi took the letter and nodded. Liam then opened a portal to the Plants vs. Zombies world. At the same time, the System's voice echoed:
——Transporting two individuals to another world: Adult male with minor Supernatural Power, 15 Deviation Points. Underage female with no Supernatural Power, 5 Deviation Points.
This thing actually charges? Liam was dumbfounded. After Kenvi and her daughter hummed "Farewell Wine" and crossed through the portal, he was about to check what was going on when the System suddenly spoke again:
——Detected a large-scale change in the guest world's fate.
——Detected multiple Destiny Children changes.
——Overall world situation changes are minor.
——Acquired 35 Deviation Points.
Liam's Deviation Points suddenly increased to 39, giving him a feeling of sudden wealth. However, he still needed to check how the Deviation Points were spent for the teleportation. Otherwise, he might find himself mysteriously losing points in the future, which would be painful.
After several minutes, he finally found the relevant clause in the lengthy System guidelines, which he had only skimmed through before.
First, teleporting characters from different worlds requires Deviation Points to ensure accuracy and safety. The amount of Deviation Points needed varies based on the character's power level.
Second, teleportation can only occur if the Shopkeeper has opened a portal to that world.
Third, the Shopkeeper can directly check the required energy for teleportation within the emporium. (Liam: "I should have checked this first.")
Fourth, no credit is allowed in the store, so the Contract only becomes effective once the transaction is confirmed.
It seemed the Multiverse General Store was pretty decent. At least they didn't charge high-interest rates or allow scams.
With 39 Deviation Points in hand, Liam decided to spend them quickly to boost his strength. After all, what he lacked most was power.
He chose "Kenvi's Assassin Creed" to study and found that learning all the knowledge required only 3 Deviation Points. This included combat techniques, multiple languages, sailing skills, disguise, and the creation of various tools. Indeed, anything not involving Supernatural Power was quite cheap.
Next was Eagle Vision, a method to develop one's Sixth Sense. Since Liam lacked certain genes from Kenvi's world, he had two options to learn this ability:
First, he could alter his genes to gain the same Eagle Vision as Kenvi. This would cost 5 Deviation Points.
Second, he could use his own magic power to replace certain bloodline abilities, which would only enhance his Sixth Sense and other five senses. The effect would be much weaker than the original Eagle Vision, but it was cheaper, costing only 3 Deviation Points.
The last option was Leap of Faith, which allowed him to jump from any height without getting hurt as long as there was a hay stack below. Learning this would involve modifying the world's fundamental laws, requiring 300 Deviation Points.
After some thought, Liam chose to learn all the knowledge and the magic-replacement version of Eagle Vision.
Spending 6 Deviation Points, Liam sat in a chair and underwent about ten minutes of knowledge infusion, eventually mastering everything.
He then stood up, ready to experience his new abilities. After all, having seen so many videos in his past life, Liam had always envied the cool moves of the protagonists in Assassin's Creed.
Note: Highly recommend the ending song "Farewell Wine" from Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
