Chapter 51: Dragonite's Decision
Chapter 51: Dragonite's Decision
Dragonite had never felt happier than it did today.
When it was younger, no one had taught it how to fight, and it couldn't figure out powerful moves on its own. As a result, it could only stand by and watch as the other Dragonites on the island showed off their prowess.
It was known as the dumb Dragonite of the island.
While it wasn't openly mocked, Dragonite still felt sad about it.
Especially since the Dragonite it liked was more skilled than it.
So, every night, it would secretly leave Dragonite Island and go to a secluded place to sulk.
Now, it had successfully learned Dragon Tail, and the number of moves it knew had increased from four to five.
This was indeed a happy occasion for the dragon.
With that, it swaggered around the ranch, swinging its tail proudly.
Its first stop was in front of the Motostoke, who was lounging in the shade of the eaves.
Dragonite used Dragon Tail and excitedly exclaimed, "Roar!"
"Gao?"
Motostoke looked puzzled, staring innocently at the Dragonite before it.
Then its eyes lit up as if it had just realized something. It stood up and used Dragon Tail on the air in front of it.
It had learned this move too!
Dragonite: "Roar..."
As Motostoke looked on in confusion, Dragonite turned and went to the pen of the Riding Sheep.
It was like a child who had gotten a high score on a test and couldn't wait to share the news with its friends.
The three Riding Sheep gazed at Dragonite's movements with wide-eyed innocence.
At first, they were perplexed as well.
But soon, the three little sheep had an epiphany.
They had also figured out a lot of new moves!
The Riding Sheep began to demonstrate their own abilities.
Grass Field, Photosynthesis, Sunlight, Vine Whip, and Razor Leaf...
Green light enveloped the entire pen, thick sunbeams swept across the sky, green vines danced gracefully, and verdant leaves fluttered like snowflakes.
What was usually an ordinary sheep pen had momentarily transformed into a trendy international stage.
The sunbeams became strobing lights, the vine whips became wires, and Razor Leaf became a flurry of snowflakes created by a snow machine.
The three Riding Sheep transformed into top supermodels, showcasing themselves amid the dazzling lights.
Amid the bleating of the sheep, Dragonite felt dizzy from the spectacle.
Before long, Naoki, who had been busy in the fields, saw Dragonite running back, still wearing the small red bag at its waist.
"Roar!"
Naoki was a bit surprised. "What's the matter now?"
"Roar..."
Dragonite sadly pointed to the Riding Sheep with its claw and then to itself.
Naoki was baffled, guessing randomly, "Did the Riding Sheep bully you?"
Dragonite shook its head and then used Dragon Tail, finishing with a determined roar, "Roar!"
Now Naoki understood. "You've learned Dragon Tail, and you want to learn more moves?"
"Roar!"
Dragonite nodded vigorously.
"I see!"
Naoki began to ponder what other moves would be suitable for Dragonite to learn.
Just then, he remembered the previous Berry Platter.
Before, he had been worried that Dragonite's affection wasn't high enough, and eating the Berry Platter might cause it to forget its moves, leading to a loss of trust. So, he hadn't offered it to Dragonite.
But now, seeing Dragonite's eagerness, it seemed like it was ready.
After a moment's thought, Naoki gave the decision to Dragonite:
"I have a very special method that can teach you new moves."
Dragonite's eyes lit up, and it looked at Naoki expectantly. "Roar?"
Naoki continued, "However, this method is beyond my control and may be unsafe. It might make you forget the moves you already know, or it might teach you new ones."
"Roar..." Hearing that it might forget its moves, Dragonite hesitated.
Naoki didn't push the matter and patiently waited for Dragonite's decision.
"Roar!"
"Want to give it a try?" Naoki asked.
Dragonite nodded.
"Alright."
Naoki exhaled and, having finished the work in the fields, stood up and led Dragonite back to the wooden cabin.
He first washed his muddy hands, then took out the remaining few Sitrus Berries from the cabinet.
These berries would be just enough for two portions.
Naoki cut the berries into pieces and arranged them on a plate before handing it to Dragonite, who was waiting by his side.
Dragonite extended its claw to take the plate, looking at the berry pieces with a puzzled expression.
"Roar?"
Could these ordinary berries really help it comprehend new moves?
"Want to give it a try?" Naoki asked.
"Roar!"
Dragonite nodded and tilted its head back, pouring the berries into its mouth. It chewed a few times before swallowing them all.
After a moment, Naoki asked expectantly, "Do you feel any changes in your body?"
Dragonite carefully sensed its body, and its eyes lit up as it exclaimed, "Roar!"
"You've comprehended something? What is it?" Naoki asked eagerly.
The room was too small for Dragonite to demonstrate, so the two of them went outside.
Dragonite flapped its wings and lifted off the ground, its aura sinking as its gaze turned resolute.
In the next second, its body darted forward with incredible speed, so fast that an opponent would have difficulty reacting.
"Extreme Speed," Naoki thought, recognizing the move.
After a moment, Dragonite flew back, its expression excited as if it couldn't wait to try again.
Seeing this, Naoki returned to the cabin and used the remaining berries to make another berry platter.
However, as he finished, he had a sudden idea. He took out the black truffle from the cabinet and sprinkled some of its powder on top of the berries.
When Naoki looked down at the berry platter, he noticed that its description had changed.
[Berry Platter (B+)
: A delicious dish made with various types of berries, blending their unique flavors together. The addition of black truffle powder enhances its taste, making it a favorite among some Pokemon.
Cooking Effect: Skill Refinement. After consumption, a Pokemon's move will randomly evolve, increasing the chance of comprehending powerful and rare moves.

"It increases the chance of comprehending rare moves?" Naoki raised an eyebrow, though this effect was actually within his expectations.
He wondered if it broadened the pool of available skills or simply increased the chance of comprehending moves.
After a brief contemplation, he handed the enhanced berry platter to Dragonite.
Dragonite devoured it in big mouthfuls.
Soon after, its eyes became teary.
"Roar..."
Naoki: "..."
"You forgot something?" he asked.
Dragonite shook its tail, trying to use Dragon Tail, but it failed.
What bad luck! It had just learned the move and now it had forgotten it?
Naoki thought for a moment before comforting Dragonite, "Don't worry, do you remember how you learned Dragon Tail in the first place?"
"Roar..." Dragonite nodded sadly.
Naoki continued, "So, the experience is still there. If you practice again, I'm sure you'll be able to recall how to use Dragon Tail soon."
Having witnessed the power of the berry platter, Dragonite felt a hint of trepidation.
It didn't dare to continue and sadly went outside to start practicing Dragon Tail again.
Naoki followed and stood under the eaves, watching Dragonite's determined efforts with a sigh.
After a while, he murmured, "We're out of berries at home. I'll have to go into town to stock up."
