Chapter 509: Sweet Mask
Chapter 509: Sweet Mask
In a distant place, hundreds of light-years away from Earth.
A massive spaceship warped the surrounding spacetime as it sped through hyperspace, propelled by its powerful warp engines, heading towards Earth.
Deep within the heart of this spacecraft, in a spacious room, a figure sat alone on a majestic throne, right fist clenched and propping up his right cheek.
"How much longer... "
"Until we reach the planet in the prophecy?"
Boross, for that was his name, inquired calmly.
A blue octopus-like creature standing nearby bowed respectfully. "Approximately ten more days, Lord Boross."
Boross straightened in his seat and gazed upward at the starry sky above, a glint flashing in his solitary eye. "I can hardly wait to engage in a thrilling battle."
In his homeland, he was the strongest. He had conquered not only his birthplace but also countless other planets, becoming an invincible overlord with no equal.
Twenty years ago, he received a prophecy about a distant planet where he would find an opponent worthy of his might. And so he embarked on a journey to that planet.
Now, finally, he was close to his destination.
"How could there possibly be anyone who can match Lord Boross in battle... That old prophet was probably just spouting nonsense to save his own life."
The blue octopus creature waved its tentacles as it muttered its doubts.
Boross glanced at it and replied, "Since we're already here, even if it's a lie, it's worth checking it out, especially since there are indeed life forms on that planet, aren't there?"
"Yes."
The blue octopus creature bowed again. "Even if such a powerful life form doesn't exist, it's still a planet worth conquering."
Boross nodded in agreement and then closed his eyes, resuming his slumber.
The spaceship continued its hyperspeed journey, warping spacetime as it raced towards Earth.
...
Earth, City A.
Feng Ye set down his glass, straightened up, and began typing swiftly on the computer in front of him, skillfully browsing through various web pages.
After perusing a variety of news articles, Feng Ye's eyes narrowed slightly, and he turned his head toward the door, a faint azure glow flickering in his irises.
His gaze penetrated the door.
Beyond it stood Chuxue, about to ring the doorbell.
Ding dong!
The doorbell chimed.
The azure glow in Feng Ye's eyes faded as he deactivated his X-ray vision, feigning ignorance as he continued to browse the web as if he hadn't noticed anything.
"... "
Chuxue pressed the doorbell twice but received no response.
According to the information she had received, Feng Ye should have been home and not out and about. Was he still asleep?
Chuxue pondered briefly whether she should use her supernatural powers to open the door. But since she was here to visit him, it would be odd to enter while he was sleeping.
As she hesitated.
Her eyes widened, and she turned to look down the corridor.
There, a strikingly handsome man dressed casually strolled toward them, his presence causing Chuxue's pupils to contract slightly in surprise.
"Sweet Mask?! "
"You must be Hell's Chuxue, Tornado's little sister..."
Sweet Mask approached them, offering a brief glance at Chuxue before flashing a gentle smile. Without bothering to question Chuxue's presence, he turned to the door and, instead of ringing the doorbell, knocked twice.
Chuxue stepped back, a bead of sweat forming on her forehead as her eyes flickered uncertainly at Sweet Mask. She quickly guessed the reason for his visit.
With his meteoric rise to the second-highest A-Class rank and the addition of his accomplishments during the meteorite incident, Feng Ye now qualified for an S-Class promotion. This was likely the reason for Sweet Mask's visit! Unlike other A-Class heroes, Sweet Mask was an anomaly.
Though ranked A-Class, his strength was that of the highest echelons of S-Class, perhaps even surpassing some. He was an undisputed monster!
Creak!
As these thoughts raced through Chuxue's mind, the door emitted a soft creak as it slowly swung open.
"Come in," Feng Ye said, glancing up from his seat on the sofa. "If I didn't let you in, you'd probably tear the door down, right?"
Sweet Mask strode in nonchalantly, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth as he heard Feng Ye's words. "Why, I would never do something so impolite. And I'm sure you wouldn't dream of being so rude as to keep me waiting outside... It's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Raiden. I am Sweet Mask."
"Have a seat," Feng Ye offered, closing his laptop. "Help yourself to a drink; the waiter will bring it over."
Sweet Mask took a seat opposite Feng Ye, his demeanor relaxed as he smiled and pressed a button on the table. Turning to Feng Ye, he said, "I heard about your exceptional rise to the A-Class ranks and your swift climb to the second position. I thought it prudent to get to know you, especially since you are a likely candidate for an S-Class promotion."
A moment later, a waiter arrived with a glass of juice. Sweet Mask picked up a straw and gently stirred the ice cubes in his glass. "As professional heroes, we must always uphold the symbol of justice and maintain our image, especially at the S-Class level. This is my principle... You should know that to advance from A-Class to S-Class, you must either surpass me in terms of points or gain my acknowledgment, correct?"
Feng Ye smiled casually. "And so?"
"So, I acknowledge you." Sweet Mask drained his glass and smiled at Feng Ye. "Your image and strength align perfectly with my definition of a hero. You are indeed worthy of the promotion, and I will not stand in your way. In fact, I look forward to witnessing your future achievements."
With that, he stood and smiled. "Well, I must take my leave."
Chuxue, who had been standing off to the side, stepped aside to make way and took a subtle breath as she watched Sweet Mask approach the door.
His acknowledgment meant that he wouldn't impede Feng Ye's path to an S-Class promotion. With Feng Ye's previous accomplishments and strength, he might become an S-Class hero immediately!
Chuxue processed this information.
Just then, Feng Ye rose from his seat and headed for the door, with Chuxue following close behind. They walked together down the corridor.
"No need to see me out," Sweet Mask said, waving as he stepped out into the corridor. With a smile, he turned to leave.
Chuxue watched as Sweet Mask disappeared around the corner, then let out a sigh of relief. Turning to Feng Ye beside her, she paused, her eyes widening in surprise.
Feng Ye had vanished from the corridor, leaving only the slowly closing door in her line of sight.
Creak! The door shut.
Chuxue found herself alone in the empty corridor, a gentle breeze wafting in from a nearby window.
Chuxue: "..."
