Chapter 508: Kaido, You're the Chosen One!
Chapter 508: Kaido, You're the Chosen One!
In this vast sea, there are many beings like Tonatiuh, who either see through the world or lack interest in it.
There's more to life than mere hedonism.
Even if it's just about pleasure, what if one can't achieve what Sage desires under the current circumstances?
The solution is simple: strive to reach the level he desires!
Being a chieftain among savages and being a landlord in a bustling world are essentially the same, but the experiences are worlds apart.
After the ransom was paid, these people had no reason to stay. They left in their ships, dejected. Sage also set this city-like ship in motion, sailing towards Storm City.
Meanwhile, a banquet took place within this city.
Among the attendees were not only those who came to play but also locals who were heavily indebted and could only work here.
Not a single person in Gran Tazoro had come to do business willingly. Whether shop owners or employees, they were all deceived and forced to stay.
No matter how much money they earned here, it would never be enough to repay their debts.
Sage waved his hand, "Those who want to leave can go, and those who stay are welcome to join me. I always need more people."
And so, the banquet began.
This colossal ship rivaled the size of some countries on the high seas, and its storage of materials was equally impressive, capable of sustaining the needs of its inhabitants.
Whether they were finally free or chose to join the Four Emperors, everyone celebrated with abandon.
Sage, having taken over Tazoro's former habitat, summoned his subordinates to join the feast.
Marika herself took charge of the cooking, gathering chefs from within to cater to this group of subordinates.
"It's too slow and too big!" Renetia exclaimed, holding a bone-in leg in her hand as she ate. "Such a massive ship, yet it's just a decoration, propelled by two giant tortoises at the front. Where's the engine? Where's the technology? Whether it's vehicles or ships, they're all just empty shells!"
Without the imminent threat of enemies, Renetia had just finished inspecting the surroundings and immediately noticed the issue.
Not only were the vehicles powered by tortoises, but even this ship relied on larger tortoises for propulsion!
It was less a ship and more like a movable 'island.'
"What's the point of discussing bicycles here?"
Sage sat on a golden throne, a bottle of wine in hand, and laughed, "A ship this size is hard to come by, and its facilities are mostly intact. With some repairs, it'll be usable. If it can't sail on its own, you can modify it later."
"Of course! If a ship can't sail on its own, it's not a ship. It's heresy, a heretic! It must be changed!"
Sage smiled, ignoring the excited Renetia. He took a swig from the bottle and, squinting, surveyed his subordinates. Suddenly, he said, "It's almost time."
Lily, standing before him, was taken aback for a moment and looked at Sage. "So soon?"
"Yes," Sage nodded. "The fact that the Council of Five came instead of Haki indicates this. With the World Summit still ongoing, they're unlikely to be able to spare the time. We shouldn't let this opportunity slip by!"
"The money is in hand. We can proceed with the plan and have people follow behind to develop the area. Without worries, it's time for the next step!"
"Big Mom has been annexed, connecting the front and rear. The cooperation with Tich in the latter half remains, and in the former half, there's only one obstacle left!"
Hearing Sage's words, Lily instinctively tightened her grip on her sword, even amidst the festive banquet.
Sage's plans were always straightforward, brutal, and efficient.
From the initial plan to infiltrate the New World to the plan to occupy Whitebeard's territory in the New World and now, his strategy has always been the same.
Whether attacking Big Mom or coming here to rob Tazoro due to a lack of cash, his goal has never changed.
In the first half of the New World, he aims for complete unification!
"Kaido!"
Sage extended his five fingers, clenching them into a fist. A sinister smile appeared behind the fist, "He's the chosen one!"
The one he had kept for last, the one he intended to eliminate!
With Kaido out of the way, no one would stand in his path in the first half of the New World!
"Understood."
"Lily loosened her grip on the sword hilt at her waist and said, "I'll go back and prepare now. Do we need to call Katagutsu?"
"No need. Let them stay and guard. We haven't fully settled and stabilized Totland yet, and we need people to watch over it. We can't afford to have it attacked after we defeat Kaido."
Sage considered the idea of recruiting the Big Mom Pirates but ultimately abandoned it.
The larger the territory, the more concerns one has.
He had worked hard to capture this territory, and while he could accept some losses, he preferred to avoid them if possible.
"Besides, why would I need a numbers advantage to deal with Kaido?"
Sage bared his teeth in a menacing grin, "That kind of guy..."
Recalling his previous battle with Kaido, Sage had knocked him away, but he himself had been knocked unconscious by a single blow.
He reached for the seven scars on his chest, his eyes turning sinister, "I'll kill him with my own hands!!!"
...
The enormous sum of five billion belli was a massive amount for all of Ohara. Sage had been expanding his territory and influence for so long that his organization provided such good welfare and benefits that even the lower-class civilians outside referred to it as 'Heaven'.
However, the taxes collected and the deposits in the gold bank did not amount to five billion belli. With this money, Ohara, which had been short on funds, suddenly became affluent.
With money in hand, it was time for allocation, but Sage left this task to specialists. He wasn't concerned about causing inflation.
This currency wasn't unique to his territory; it was used throughout the vast sea. Ohara's scarce resources were not rare in the outside world, and he could still purchase what he needed.
No one would refuse to sell to him.
The risk of offending a Four Emperor was not something anyone could afford.
As for Tazoro himself, Sage sent him and Link to Hive Island. When they returned, Tazoro was nowhere to be found, and the ability to control gold had been passed on to Link.
"Hahaha! Sage, I almost couldn't hold it in! Where did you get these amazing abilities? My men want them too! You're the unlucky one, but you keep finding these great abilities."
In the Storm City Palace, Sage listened to the laughter coming from the telebeetle, annoyed. "Don't you know the law of misfortune replacement? It's fine if I'm unlucky as long as I make someone else even more unlucky, and my misfortune will be replaced."
"What do you mean?"
"It means if you annoy me, I'll come and finish you off!"
Sage growled, "Why are you calling me, Tich? Are you looking for a fight?"
"Hahaha! Don't get so worked up. Of course, I called for a reason, love."
Laughter echoed through the telebeetle again, "You defeated Big Mom, and I haven't congratulated you yet. Red Hair has been pestering me lately; it's quite bothersome, Sage."
"Just get to the point; I hate all this beating around the bush."
"The lighthouse, and at least one of the Triclops girls. We're allies, aren't we?" Tich's voice deepened.
"I can't give you people."
Sage was straightforward, "You can have a replica of the lighthouse from Big Mom's territory, but this time, you'll have to contain Red Hair as well."
The telebeetle on the other end went silent for a moment, then laughed, "Hahaha! Here we go again, Sage. You haven't digested it all yet, have you?"
"Then don't worry about it. That's all."
Sage hung up the telebeetle and looked ahead. He was in a grand meeting room.
On his left were the three female executives, and to his right were Moriah Hawkins and Urki. Further back were Akin Berami and Paru, along with many more of his trusted subordinates.
"Then let's make a plan."
Sage smiled, "The plan to unify the first half of the New World and defeat Kaido!"
