Chapter 505: Conditions for Success
Chapter 505: Conditions for Success
Following Grandmother Gu's secret advice, Li Qian agreed to Mary Gallovy's invitation.
After accepting Mary's invitation, Li Qian initially planned to take the girl to the third canteen for a meal. However, after some thought, he changed direction and headed straight towards the back entrance.
Li Qian was unaware of Grandmother Gu's intentions when she secretly communicated with him, urging him to accept Mary's invitation.
However, he understood that there was a deeper meaning behind it. Grandmother Gu clearly wanted him to spend time alone with Mary, and so he decided to follow her wishes.
Bringing Mary to a unique restaurant near the school's back entrance, they found a small table in the hall and sat down in high spirits.
Soon after they sat down, they ordered their meals, and before the food arrived, a familiar voice suddenly rang out.
"Li Qian, it's really you!"
Li Qian turned towards the familiar voice and quickly spotted a beautiful figure at the restaurant's entrance.
The person who arrived was none other than Li Lanying, whom he hadn't seen for a while.
"Li Lanying!" Li Qian greeted her with a smile on his face, but inside, he was already sighing.
What a coincidence, to run into Li Lanying like this.
If it were any other time, meeting her would be no big deal, just an opportunity to chat over a meal.
But at this moment, it was different. He was currently carrying out Grandmother Gu's "mission."
If Li Lanying's appearance disrupted the "mission" or caused any changes, it would be troublesome.
On the surface, he smiled, but inside, Li Qian already had his reservations. Without hesitation, he extended his hand and gestured for her to join them.
"It's perfect timing; we've just ordered, and the food hasn't arrived yet. If you don't mind, please join us."
Li Lanying smiled and walked over, "Since it's an invitation from an old classmate, I can't refuse."
After sitting down, the three of them started chatting, and Li Qian introduced the two girls to each other.
Both girls smiled and shook hands, creating a harmonious scene. As two beauties with no shortage of charm, they attracted the attention of many male students nearby.
The students looked at Li Qian with envy, secretly marveling at his good fortune with women.
"Why did you come here to eat?" After chatting for a while, Li Lanying asked curiously.
"We met in the library," Mary Gallovy replied softly. "Qian is my savior, and it's rare to see him. I must thank him properly."
Hearing this, Li Qian smiled bitterly and shook his head. "You're bringing that up again. I already told you it was my duty to save you."
"And didn't we agree that this meal is on me?" Li Qian joked. "Before, it was just you, but now with Li Lanying, it's even less your turn."
Seeing that Mary wanted to say more, Li Qian interrupted her, "Enough, if you truly want to thank me, treat me to a meal next time. This is settled."
Mary's eyes lit up as she stared at Li Qian and nodded.
Li Lanying, sitting beside them, showed no outward reaction, but inside, she couldn't help feeling a surge of jealousy.
Although she knew that with her current status, she was not on the same level as Li Qian, it didn't mean other girls could freely covet him.
Mary Gallow, though beautiful, couldn't compare to Li Qian in Li Lan Ying's eyes.
If she dared to pursue him, why should she back down?
Li Qian didn't think much about it. After the meal arrived, he started eating heartily and casually asked, "Oh, Lan Ying, what brings you here?"
"I don't have class this afternoon, and I heard the food here is good, so I thought I'd give it a try," Li Lan Ying replied.
Of course, this was just an excuse. She did have class this afternoon, but she had chosen to 'not have class' at this moment.
Moreover, she wasn't here because of the restaurant's reputation, nor was she the type to go out of her way for a meal.
The reason she was here was because she had seen Li Qian and Mary Gallow walking together at school, and out of curiosity, she followed them.
After the meal, Mary Gallow took the initiative to ask, "Qian Ge, do you have class this afternoon?"
Hearing this, Li Qian's heart stirred with excitement, and he directly responded, "I don't have class, Mary. Do you have any plans?"
"I heard that if you follow the path behind the school, you'll reach a mountain where there's a forest of Dragon Ink Trees. At this time of year, the leaves have turned golden yellow. Shall we go and take a look?"
Upon hearing this, Li Qian's joy intensified. He had originally wanted to create an opportunity to be alone with her, but now the opportunity had presented itself.
The only trouble was that there was one extra person, so he directly shifted his gaze to Li Lan Ying.
He asked, "Lan Ying, what about you? What are your plans?"
Li Qian's words were quite obvious in their implication clear.
Li Lan Ying naturally understood his hidden meaning and smiled, "Really? There's such a beautiful place? Then I'll go take a look too!"
Hearing this, Li Qian sighed inwardly. At this moment, he couldn't just let Li Lan Ying leave.
So, he had to agree with a smile, and the three of them chatted as they walked. Before long, they arrived at the foot of the mountain.
It was indeed a small hill, and on the hill, many Dragon Ink Trees were planted.
The three of them entered the forest, and Li Qian looked around before shaking his head, "Only a third of the Dragon Ink Tree leaves have turned yellow. I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer for all the leaves to change."
Mary Gallow's mouth twitched into a strange arc as she heard this, "It's a bit disappointing, a flaw in the beauty."
She turned to Li Qian, "I heard that there's actually a way to hasten the yellowing of the Dragon Ink Tree leaves."
Li Lan Ying's interest piqued, "Oh? How can we make the leaves turn yellow faster?"
Mary Gallow laughed, "It's simple. Just water them with enough blood."
After saying this, she turned to look at Li Qian and Li Lan Ying, her smile no longer sunny, no longer bright, but instead, very cold.
