Chapter 503: Third District
Chapter 503: Third District
"Xun."
Treasure Seeker used its claws to lift the sleeping intruder and floated to the window, then threw it outside.
It then turned to look at the sleeping Fangy Big Brother, shook its head, and wore a worried expression.
What would they do without it?
...
On a dark street late at night.
"Isn't that Steel Sparrow?" A black-skinned Bald Man, with a dazed look, stumbled closer and kicked the motionless purple bird familiar lying on the ground.
A similarly intoxicated White Young Man squatted down and took a closer look. Once he saw clearly, the drunkenness in his eyes vanished instantly:
"It really is Steel Sparrow! And it's a wild one! Doesn't it look like the one in the news recently?"
Hearing this, the Bald Man also sobered up a bit.
He picked up Steel Sparrow and examined it closely for a few seconds before exclaiming in surprise:
"It really is! The news said Steel Sparrow's claws were damaged, and this one's claws are damaged too!"
As a familiar with steel attributes, Steel Sparrow's defense was naturally top-notch. How many could have damaged claws?
Almost the moment he saw the damage under Steel Sparrow's claws, the Bald Man knew this was the one that had been wanted recently.
The White Young Man's eyes lit up. "I remember the bounty on Steel Sparrow is 200,000, right?"
The Bald Man whistled.
"The government bounty is 200,000, but on the Black Market, Steel Sparrow is worth much more. Its feathers are top-notch materials."
The White Young Man immediately understood the Bald Man's meaning.
The market price for Steel Sparrow was around 600,000, but that was based on Companion Base.
Wild beast companions were generally hard to tame and thus difficult to sell on the market unless they were still in eggs or extremely rare. However, the Black Market didn't have this problem. Beastmasters who bought familiars on the Black Market weren't always looking for a bond.
Selling a Steel Sparrow worth 600,000 on the Black Market would definitely fetch more than the government's 200,000 bounty.
Steel Sparrow was hard to come by, especially a wanted one. He wondered why it was lying on the street ... As White Young Man's thoughts raced, he suddenly had an idea and looked at the Bald Man, asking, "How do you plan to split it?"
"How do I plan to split what?" The Bald Man's face darkened. "I saw this Steel Sparrow first."
For a moment, the sharpness in their eyes dispelled all traces of drunkenness.
Unseen by the Bald Man, the White Young Man secretly made hand signs behind his back.
A white Star Array lit up.
Summoning a familiar at this critical moment, anyone with a brain would know what the other was up to.
"Bastard!" The Bald Man's face changed drastically as he quickly made hand signs.
But it was too late.
From the white Star Array, a moth familiar with pink ringed wings appeared.
"Hypnosis Powder!" the White Young Man said quickly.
The moth familiar flapped its wings, and fluorescent powder drifted toward the Bald Man.
Before the Bald Man could finish his hand signs, he fell to the ground, asleep.
"You actually thought you could take it from me." The White Young Man's smile turned into a sneer as he kicked the Bald Man and bent down to pick up Steel Sparrow before turning to leave.
He didn't notice that Steel Sparrow had quietly opened its eyes, glanced at the ID Bracelet on the moth familiar, and then closed them again.
...
The next day.
Qiao Sang yawned as she got out of bed around noon.
She picked up her mobile phone and saw the time: 11:41.
Qiao Sang was shocked and turned to Yang Jiayi, who had just come out of the bathroom, asking, "It's almost 12, why didn't you wake me up?"
"Officer Chen said not to wake you up", Yang Jiayi explained. "He said you finally got some sleep, so you should rest a bit longer."
He’s quite considerate... Qiao Sang thought as he put on his shoes and asked, "When are we leaving?"
Yang Jiayi replied, "As soon as you're awake."
As they chatted casually, Qiao Sang finished washing up and packing the books he had taken out the previous day. He then carried Fangy and followed Yang Jiayi out of the room.
The Yuanxin Hotel was close to the airport, and it only took them about ten minutes to walk to Lade Airport.
The flight tickets were bought last minute, so the four of them were seated in different parts of the plane.
The person sitting next to Qiao Sang was a Southeast Asian woman who was on a phone call.
As a Beastmaster with three Advanced Familiars, Qiao Sang could clearly hear their conversation.
"What? The Toxic Moss Moth's ID Bracelet was stolen? Who did it?"
"It was a wild familiar. I found it sleeping on the street and felt sorry for it, so I took it in. I didn't expect the Toxic Moss Moth's ID Bracelet to be gone when I woke up."
"Good heavens, you can't just pick up any wild beast companion!"
"It's my first time, I didn't expect this to happen."
"You're just too kind-hearted, dear. Promise me you won't pick up any more wild beast companions, okay?"
"Anything you say, darling. But the Toxic Moss Moth's ID Bracelet is gone, so I can't board the plane. I'll have to trouble you to wait for me for a day."
"Oh, dear, I'll wait for you."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Qiao Sang remained expressionless, pretending he hadn't heard anything as he quietly read his book.
...
Three days later, the plane arrived at the Third District.
The sun in Supernest always casts a halo during the day, and the colorful rings captivated Qiao Sang, who took several photos as soon as he got off the plane.
On the way to Sai Nan High School, Qiao Sang noticed that there were fewer familiars on the road compared to Sector 13, but the number of large familiars had increased significantly.
The skyscrapers here soared into the clouds, and most of the flying familiars in the sky had people riding on them.
Advertising blimps slowly passed through the flock of Flying-type Companions.
Compared to Sector 13, the environment in the Third District was much better.
"Yah!"
Fangy, looking out the car window, grew increasingly excited as he saw more and more large familiars.
The driver, a talkative man, didn't stop chatting the entire journey.
"Are you all students at Sai Nan High School?" the driver asked, explaining himself, "Don't mind me, I was just curious. I've been driving around here for a long time, but I've never picked up any students from Sai Nan High School."
"I'm not doubting you, it's just that most students there usually travel by familiar. I've never seen anyone take a taxi."
"But you all look like students there. By the way, what's the name of the familiar you're holding? I've never seen one like it before."
In the car, only Qiao Sang was holding a familiar.
Tang Yi didn't have a Compact Shrinking Bracelet, so he kept his familiar hidden when traveling.
Yang Jiayi, to avoid Sage and Fangy getting into another conflict, had mostly kept Sage in the Beastmaster Codex over the past few days.
"It's called a Blazing Star Hound", Qiao Sang said.
"Blazing Star Hound", the driver praised. "That's a beautiful familiar, it must be a rare breed. I've never heard of it before."
"You wouldn't have", Officer Chen interjected, just about to introduce the three prodigious young men from the Dragon Nation of Blue Star.
At that moment, the car stopped.
"We've arrived at Sai Nan High School."
