Chapter 503: A Decisive Slash
Chapter 503: A Decisive Slash
Upon entering the space within the Box of Bliss, Mu Yue was greeted by endless darkness.
However, with his enhanced sensory abilities, Mu Yue could perceive that the space within was much larger than the exterior of the box suggested.
Mu Yue was not surprised, as this was most likely the work of the Sage of Six Paths.
After all, the Sage had gone as far as to create the moon to seal away Kaguya; creating a peculiar box was not a significant feat in comparison.
Mu Yue curiously wandered through the box, carefully sensing the sealing techniques within. It was a different experience from when he had studied it from the outside.
"Human, do you desire eternal life and limitless power? For a sufficient amount of chakra, I can grant any wish you desire."
A hoarse voice echoed from all around.
"Any wish, huh? Then, can you resurrect the Sage of Six Paths?" Mu Yue asked curiously.
Perhaps it was his imagination, but Mu Yue felt the dark space tinged with a faint redness.
After a moment, the hoarse voice spoke again.
"Of course, for the right price of chakra, anything is possible."
"Then, I wish for the power to grant my own wishes." Mu Yue replied, his face serious.
The voice fell silent once more.
Enlightenment was impressed; in all its years of being sealed, it had never encountered such a person.
If it hadn't discovered its inability to forcibly control Mu Yue, it wouldn't have wasted its breath trying to deceive him.
"Gathering chakra is essential. Only with an abundant supply can you earn the chance to make a wish." Enlightenment emphasized.
"You can start by infusing the box with your own chakra; your reserves are already quite impressive."
"I see." Mu Yue nodded and, with a flick of his wrist, threw a Flying Thunder God kunai in a particular direction.
Enlightenment's eyes widened as it sensed the incoming kunai, surprised that Mu Yue could sense its location in this pitch-black space. Was it a coincidence?
It swung its sharp claws, attempting to swat the kunai away.
Whoosh!
In the next instant, Mu Yue appeared before Enlightenment, his fist coated in Armament Haki, delivering a devastating blow.
BOOM!!!
Enlightenment's claws, harder than steel, shattered under Mu Yue's punch, and the resulting pain caused it to hiss in shock.
Mu Yue's punch had shaken its confidence. Was this the strength and defense a human should possess? Who was the real monster here?
Enlightenment hastily channeled its power to heal its injured claw and then opened its maw, spraying chakra rays at Mu Yue.
Its initial plan had been to deceive Mu Yue into wasting his chakra, but Mu Yue wasn't falling for it.
Whoosh!
Mu Yue, using the Flying Thunder God technique, appeared before Enlightenment once more and landed a heavy punch, slamming it forcefully into the ground.
With the first punch, Mu Yue had already imprinted the Flying Thunder God formula onto its body.
Drawing out his sword, Yanmo, Mu Yue infused it with a portion of his chakra and Armament Haki, switching its breath from Rock to Lightning. His figure became a blur as he moved swiftly.
As Enlightenment struggled to get up, six sword lights descended, severing its legs, feet, and wings.
"Who are you?" Enlightenment couldn't help but ask, its voice filled with curiosity.
It knew that anyone capable of leaving marks within the Box of Bliss was no ordinary person, but it had not expected Mu Yue to be this strong.
Not exactly strong, but peculiar.
It couldn't understand how Mu Yue could see in this lightless environment; it should have been impossible.
Moreover, Mu Yue showed no signs of fear in this enclosed, pitch-black space, rendering its innate abilities useless.
Coupled with Mu Yue's spatial ninjutsu, Enlightenment found itself virtually helpless.
Mu Yue had no interest in answering Enlightenment's questions. Shaking his head regretfully, he said, "I thought this was the work of the Sage of Six Paths, but it seems I was mistaken. You're too weak."
Enlightenment's true form was much weaker than Mu Yue had imagined, even weaker than the tailed beasts. Mu Yue had been prepared to use the Flying Thunder God technique to escape if necessary, but it turned out that he could easily overpower it.
Enlightenment's fist, which had just connected with Mu Yue's, trembled.
"If it weren't for that damned Hagoromo sealing me away for millennia, I would have swallowed a puny thing like you in one bite," Enlightenment snarled, its voice dripping with rage as it launched a frenzied assault on Mu Yue.
However, Mu Yue saw through each of its attacks and, with a few swift slashes, severed its limbs once more.
"You claim to have been sealed by the Sage of Six Paths. What proof do you have? Are there other beings similar to you that have also been sealed away?" Mu Yue continued to probe.
He found Enlightenment's intellect lacking, whether due to the prolonged sealing or its inherent nature.
"The Koromo could not kill us, so he sealed us away," Enlightenment replied proudly.
Mu Yue casually swung his sword, beheading Enlightenment.
As he watched the body continue to move, Mu Yue had to admit that its life force was remarkably strong.
Unlike Hidan, who had to sew his body back together, Enlightenment's body would regenerate over time.
"Katon: Karyu Endan!"
Mu Yue unleashed a torrent of fiery breath, turning a portion of Enlightenment's body into charred ashes, curious to see how it would recover this time.
After a short while, Enlightenment grew a new body.
"I've heard that a miko sealed away the Koromo. That doesn't prove that the Sage of Six Paths sealed you," Mu Yue refuted.
Perhaps due to the rising anger, Enlightenment ignored Mu Yue's question and focused on attacking him with all its might. It was only when it realized it couldn't land a single hit that it spoke again.
"Humans have their limits. Even if you were as strong as Hagoromo, you wouldn't live long. If you free me from this seal, I can truly grant you immortality." Enlightenment offered what it believed to be a fair deal.
Enlightenment wasn't lying; the only wish it could fulfill was eternal life.
Those assimilated by it might not gain its incredible life force, but as long as they weren't killed, their lifespan would be extended significantly.
"You can go to sleep and fulfill your wishes in your dreams." Mu Yue bluntly refused.
If he truly desired a longer life, his best option was to further develop his golden finger, and his second choice would be to collaborate with Orochimaru. A deal with this inhuman monster was out of the question.
Realizing it couldn't defeat Mu Yue, Enlightenment resorted to stalling tactics, but Mu Yue, having extracted all the information he deemed valuable from its memories, turned his attention back to studying the sealing technique.
Although the seal used on Enlightenment was different from the Yang Seal he intended to develop, it was still a sealing technique employed by the Sage of Six Paths. Studying it would undoubtedly improve his own sealing abilities.
"Box of Bliss, please help me heal my wounds..."
Just then, Yokokawa's anxious voice penetrated the Box of Bliss.
Enlightenment glared at Mu Yue, furious. Even Hagoromo Otsutsuki had never humiliated it like this in the past.
Mu Yue ignored Enlightenment; this old thing was too useless, pure garbage with no value to the world except wasting food.
Once Mu Yue felt he had learned enough about the sealing technique, he immediately used the Flying Thunder God technique to leave the Box of Bliss.
Whoosh!
Swish!
Mu Yue appeared above Yokokawa and, without hesitation, swung Yanmo, severing the arm that held the Dragon Gate.
The sudden, intense pain caused Yokokawa to turn instinctively.
When he saw Mu Yue's face, sheer terror spread across his own.
Although they had only exchanged a few moves, Mu Yue had displayed overwhelming strength. If it weren't for Mu Yue's punch injuring him, Yokokawa wouldn't have been so badly battered by Kakashi and the others.
"Box, how did you let Mu Yue out? Quick, seal him back inside!" Yokokawa begged the Box of Bliss.
Enlightenment, inside the box, let out a cold laugh. Being sealed inside this box and then chopped up? What a pipe dream for a puppet like you.
Enlightenment paid no heed to Yokokawa. Its resurrection attempt had obviously failed, and with Mu Yue around, Yokokawa stood no chance.
Mu Yue didn't bother with idle chit-chat. He grabbed Yokokawa and threw him into the main residential area of the Grass Ninja Village.
The residents, upon seeing the terrifying monster, scattered in all directions. Mu Yue, however, gripped Yanmo tightly, unleashing a massive amount of Lightning-attribute chakra and swinging it with the true power of the Peerless Blade.
BOOM!
CRACKLE!
Purple lightning shot up to the heavens, and in the next moment, a gigantic purple lightning strike enveloped Yokokawa.
Under Mu Yue's formidable slash, Yokokawa instantly turned to black ash. The lightning strike continued unabated, slamming into the empty ground and leaving behind a charred gully over thirty meters long.
The villagers of the Grass Ninja Village, witnessing Mu Yue's god-like display, stood agape.
Some even rubbed their eyes, thinking they were dreaming. But when they saw the scene remained unchanged, they realized this was reality.
"That's the forehead protector of a Konoha ninja," said one of the villagers, who knew a little about ninjas.
"Why is a Konoha ninja killing a monster in our Grass Ninja Village?" wondered the villagers.
Out of the blue, a disgusting monster appeared, only to be swiftly slain, not by their Grass Ninja Village ninja, but by a ninja from the neighboring powerful country of Konoha.
"I need to train more," thought Kakashi, his desire to cultivate soaring as he witnessed Mu Yue's Peerless Blade once more.
Compared to Mu Yue's slash, his own blade technique was unworthy of the name 'Peerless'. The power difference was immense.
If he truly mastered the Peerless Blade, Yokokawa wouldn't have survived his initial strike. Yokokawa's defense wasn't strong; even Ryohu's fire release could injure him, let alone the Peerless Blade.
"Damn, why do I feel like my fire style isn't cutting it?" thought Obito, longing as he watched Mu Yue bathed in lightning.
Upon further reflection, Obito realized that fire style just wasn't up to par.
He couldn't recall ever seeing a fire jutsu above a B-rank level. The highest was B-rank.
Even Mu Yue, a sage, didn't seem to possess S-rank fire jutsu.
Might Guy, a master of physical techniques, had the Eight Inner Gates and the Golden Sky, while Kakashi, with his Lightning attribute, had the cool and powerful Peerless Blade.
In an instant, Obito felt that he and Itachi had drawn the short straw with their chakra attributes. Fire style was lacking; there were no powerful skills, making it inferior.
"Should I start learning other nature transformations?" Itachi began contemplating expanding his repertoire and learning new abilities.
With his learning ability, he figured picking up the Lightning attribute chakra nature transformation shouldn't take long.
"If the new generation's Mu Yue is this strong, how terrifying must the Three Legendary Sannin be? And that Third Hokage..." Ryohu deeply felt the might of the Five Great Shinobi Countries.
Even if they got lucky and produced a strong ninja like Danzo, the deep foundations of the Five Great Shinobi Countries could easily crush a regular ninja village. The gap between them was just too vast.
"In terms of overall strength, Captain Mu Yue is probably even stronger than Minato," concluded Nara Suzaku, comparing Mu Yue to the Yellow Flash.
He had been on missions with Minato and had some understanding of his capabilities.
While Minato could cut down ordinary ninjas with ease, his strikes weren't as powerful as Mu Yue's, nor did he possess ninjutsu of similar destructive force.
Compared to Mu Yue, Minato was too specialized.
"If the Second Hokage knew about such excellent successors in the future, he would probably be very comforted," thought Maruxian Koji, as he watched Mu Yue wreak havoc with his combination of the Flying Thunder God technique and his slashes.
In his ninja career, Koji had encountered many ninjas who could be called geniuses, but compared to Mu Yue, they all paled.
He had seen stronger ninjas than Mu Yue, but never one as strong as Mu Yue at his current age.
After Mu Yue slew Yokokawa, the Box of Bliss underwent a transformation. The mask's wide-open mouth rapidly closed, sealing the box once more.
Sensing the change in the Box of Bliss, Mu Yue's figure flickered, and he appeared in front of the box.
"So when it's not opened, it's like a space is cut off?" Mu Yue mused.
At that moment, he couldn't use the Flying Thunder God technique to enter the box as he had before.
However, this situation was different from the one with Naruto. Mu Yue could sense the Flying Thunder God formula he had left inside the Box of Bliss, and he felt that with some effort, he might find a way back in.
Of course, since Enlightenment held no value to him, a useless old thing, and he had already studied the sealing techniques within, Mu Yue had no intention of wasting further time on it.
"Enlightenment, your threat is too great. You must be sealed," Mu Yue thought, adding a layer of Heavenly Seal on the surface of the Box of Bliss.
Although Enlightenment was like a little chick to Mu Yue, its true power was not weak. It was just that Mu Yue happened to counter it perfectly, making it seem pathetically weak.
If Enlightenment's true body were ever released, with its bizarre abilities, it could easily cause chaos spanning several countries.
The Sage of Six Paths' seal primarily affected the inside of the box, but Mu Yue's Heavenly Seal could isolate Enlightenment's power. Even if someone tried to offer chakra to Enlightenment, it wouldn't be able to receive it and thus couldn't gain the power to assimilate others.
With the Box of Bliss dealt with, Mu Yue turned his attention to resolving the issues with the Grass Ninja Village and Iwagakure.
